I love shopping at RURAL KING not only for the quality clothes that you can find there. They also sell ammo and hardware to go with it if you catch my meaning. They have plumbing. They have dog food, cat food. Any kind of feed that you need for your pets. They have quality poultry feed, which interests me the most since I raised poultry and sell the eggs. Most of the time they are in stock with everything they sell. They do a lot of business and sometimes they're a little bit short with finding help but there's always someone in a department that will help you. They don't say oh that's not my department they actually call someone from that department and walk you down to the department and get you help. If you're loading heavy bags of feed or concrete or something that you can't handle they're always there to help. They even have someone that will load your product or purchase into your vehicle. Usually, you don't have to wait very long for help. I like buying chicks from them because I have the highest success rate with quality chicks. I really highly recommend RURAL KING as your one stop shop for all your home and garden lawn, lawn equipment, animal supplies, paint everything you can think of they have. The store is very clean. On Thursday December 11th at around 1pm i went into rural king to pick up my rifle, it was my first time picking up a purchase from rural king. When i entered there was two employees at the gun barn. One person was busy handling inventory. one was attending the one person who was ahead of me in line. After they set him up on the computer, the associate named Joel went back into doing nothing, i was already waiting for about 30 mins, i was never asked for help or anything and I've been waiting the whole time. Joel then started to help a customer who came in after me. I became frustrated at that but still waited. The lady who was already busy seen what was going on and asked me if i needed help, finally...i told her i was here to pick up and she asked for my ID, handed her my ID, then proceeded to show me to the computer for the background. She continued her work and never came back out. After that i was waiting for the next step, skipped again and then Joel finally asked me if i filled out the background and i said yes and was waiting for the next step, he then helped another 2 customers and skipped me again. He was about to skip me again and help someone else even when i was standing right in front of him, telling them "ill be right with you after this person", i then had to intervene and tell him I've been waiting and need help. He then tried to help me and proceeded to tell me i had to wait until the following Wednesday to pick up my gun because no one asked me for my concealed carry license which would have let me take the gun home the same day. I waited 2 hours I didn't leave until about 3pm just for all of that to happen. The experience was completely terrible and not what i expected at all, i already had a feeling i was going to be treated differently because of the way i appear, Im not one who usually likes to say that or uses it as an excuse but its literally what happened and they only confirmed that, i felt discriminated against as i was skipped multiple times like if i was invisible, never have i ever had this happen to me anywhere else it was a terrible feeling, especially when he(Joel) helped everyone else without a problem, even asking the guy before me if he had a concealed but never asked me...terrible experience i will be putting this review other places and to corporate. read more

We've been shopping at this Rural King since it opened, when it became THE first Rural King store in Florida. We've purchased lots of equine/dog/cat feed and supplies, farm hardware and I even bought my first Hobart Wire Welder there. Even though this store was quite a bit farther away from us than our 'usual' feed stores, we would still make the trip. I'll get right to the point now about the current situations at this Rural King. There has been a gradual decrease in the quality of the shopping experience over the last few years. THIS started before the pandemic crunch. 1. The Parking Lot - on busy days, especially the weekend, the parking lot is a nightmare. Especially if you're in a large pickup OR have a trailer in tow. Parking spaces can be hard to get, or hard to access. First, it was the weekend farmer's market at the West end. Then, the rows of farm equipment. Then they added tractors, for a while. And on and on and on. 2. The Entry Door - currently is out of order. SO, EVERYBODY must use the same EXIT doors to enter and leave. So much for Social Distancing. I see SO many folks walking towards the Entry door, only to read the tiny sign and have to go to the Exit. 3, The Aisles - tall pallets of merchandise are crowded along the full length of the main aisles. Big racks of merchandise crowded around the Check Out lines, making it difficult at times. Like a Walmart the day before Black Friday. In the aisles, there are few places where you can cross over, which I'm sure the Fire Marshal would not be happy about. PLUS, again, so much for Social Distancing when there is oncoming foot traffic. 4. General disarray - the shelves are a mess in most departments. Product is laying around, on the floor, in the wrong bin or shelf or wrong department. There are trip hazards and dangers lurking everywhere. Two days ago, I had to virtually 'catch' an older gentleman who was trying to squeeze past me and another shopper, only to trip over 3 white buckets sitting on the floor. So much danger. So much confusion. You'd think that stocking and product display would be even easier with the reduced inventory most stores are handling due to the pandemic. 5. Hit or Miss Help - it seems like I always see employees in a huddle of two or three. When asked for help, most are courteous and glad to help. BUT, I have witnessed on a few occasions where the employee was not helpful or even borderline rude. My last visit I asked an employee if the store had any more of this one hardware item I was trying to buy in bulk. The response? "No. Did you look in the other bins? You might find one misplaced". So much for customer service. I will close by saying that I intend on staying loyal to Rural King. In a sense, we need them as much as they need us. But I find it difficult to believe that the above mentioned irregularities cannot be addressed and tweaked to instill a much more comfortable AND favorable shopping experience for all.... read more

Terrible customer service in Spring Hill location, purchased a chainsaw and got the 2 year warranty. In under 2 weeks the machine had problems and after 3 times going back to address the problem they refuse to replace, refund purchase, or fix machine in timely manner. The soonest repair would be over a month of wait for a product that I just got. Everyone including manager refuse to take accountability and deflect blame to other departments. read more

Ever since I moved to the area 3 years ago, I love coming here for my popcorn fix while looking over the baby chicks and bunnies. They have a great assortment of bird feeders and feed, and I purchased a bag of the "no-waste" birdseed. I'll try it and see if it attracts the songbirds in my neighborhood and keeps the landscape tidy. Also purchased a hot pepper suet block, which claims to deter squirrels. As soon as I walked in I was greeted by the pleasant smell of their complimentary popcorn. I promptly grabbed a bag and started to explore the store. There were cowboy boots, hats and a sign informing people that they shouldn't open bags of socks to try on the boots. This store was great. As I wandered down the isles I imagined different ways of completing home and yard projects. There was every tool i'd ever need. But, for this trip, I kept my purchases trivial. The store is huge, and has an incredible amount of various merchandise, from gardening, to shoes and clothes (somewhat pricey though), to free bags of popcorn when you walk in. The employees are somewhat aloof - not rude, but not nice either. I'm glad we visited to see what the store was like, but we're likely going to stick to our local Tractor Supply Store from now on. One thing particularly was odd was that there was no way to shop for compost and soil; it was stored outside behind two fences. We asked a sales associate about how we can look at the bags and buy them, but she told us to tell the cashier what we wanted and walked away; when we asked a second associate how we can look to see which bag we needed, he told us we could look through the fence - but the fences were about 20 feet away, so it was impossible to see the bags clearly. We obviously weren't able to buy any bags of soil from there. read more

We went to several counties looking for toilet paper (or as Beavis once infamously said "TP for my bung hole! Heh heh, heh heh"). We found it nowhere except.....wait for it ........Rural King!!! A place I had never been. My wife had astutely called them on a whim (last ditch Hail Mary!). They had TP and all was well. Was very crowded so didn't get to check out rest of store. They lost a star because a) they did not have enough shopping carts and b) the parking lot sucks as it was cramped and congested. Aside from that they seem to run a tight ship there. We will be back to Rural King some day!!!! read more

A great local BIG store. Need boots? They have that. Need a giant packaged pickle? They have that. Need a baby pig? They have that. Need a hair cut? They do NOT have that there (making sure you were paying attention) :). Seriously, you are greeting with the warm smell of popcorn, free while you shop. I must compliment them on their very stocked supply of generators so soon after Irma, very impressive. Think of a Big Lots, meets Wal Mart, meets a feed/livestock store, meets hunting store. My husband is quite impressed with their gun counter and supplies. If you hunt, I am sure you will find something to suit you in that section. I am a fan of their garden center where I have bought bird seed and bird feeders. They have a huge bag of clumping cat litter that is cheap that I am quickly becoming a fan of. They have honey, spices, kitchen tools, vinegar (cheapest around at $1.98 a gallon), furniture, gun cabinets, camping equipment, livestock feeders, cages, chicks, and anything else one might think of needing in one place. The only complaint I have is that the shelves are often not stocked or items are no placed in the appropriate areas for price matchup. I have not had poor customer service as some of the other reviewers have had, just the opposite actually. read more

This place is rednecktastic, bro! Anything you need for an outdoor lifestyle, tractors, automobiles, farming, hunting and they've got it. Hunter camo couches? Yep. $11 tow straps? Yep. Chickens? Yep. Buck knives? You betcha. Livestock feed? I don't know, but I'd be willing the answer is yes. I picked up a LED work light/flashlight for $9, a rubber mallet for $5 and a few other miscellaneous items that the average Jeeper might need, but I could have gotten a whole lot more. Wow. I had never heard of Rural King. Guess I've lived a sheltered life cause by the crowds of "shoppers" in here other people know it very well. The place is HUGE!! I had no idea until we started walking all around. It's as big a footprint as a Home Depot. And the merchandise they have in there ranges from guns and ammo to Under Armour clothing (non camo even!) to food to live pigs and chicks. Yep. This is certainly your one stop shopping experience right here. You could spend a lot of time walking around in here looking at the diversity of offerings and people watching. Both are entertaining. This location was OK. It's only the second one I've been in. I like more of the woman's shirt selection in the Crystal River location. Too many have religious sayings. But these are great stores for cheaper feed. I like the dried mealworms for my chickens and our local feed store (and Amazon) are overpriced. They always have baby chicks here, too. read more

Knowledgeable staff! One of the most affordable and huge pet and fees stores I have ever visited in this state. A Weeki Wachee Gardens neighbor rescued a litter of 5 week old feral kittens and my partner took two of them in. We noticed that they seemed especially hungry (trying to chew on our fingers and suckle), so the kind staff helped me locate many supplies for them, most importantly the lamb's milk and baby bottles that I was to feed them until they could take all hard cat food. I didn't realize how much work, but love, these little kitties took. I also got them a small cat tower and some canned food. I never got the pleasure of exploring the whole store, but from what I saw, there was candy, foods, pet foods, live animals and even free popcorn. AND...pet friendly. I was recently in your Spring Hill, FL store in the gun department. The customer service in this department has been consistently horrible and non-existent. The one thing the employees in this depart do well is ignoring you. No matter how many people are waiting, the employee will not make eye contact or speak to anyone except the person they are helping, even if they are awaiting information on the computer. While I was there, the employee stated to the customer, "this will take a few minutes", and then proceeded to stand there staring at the computer screen and pretending no one else was there. I was third in line and I asked a question, and was promptly told I had to wait because he was with a customer. Every time I go into this department it's the same thing, the employees have an attitude best summed up as "we are doing you a favor by letting you shop here". I've never had a problem anywhere else in the store or with any other employees. Just the ones in the gun department. I just wanted to know what the price of a Henry repeating .45 was. After 25 minutes of being third in line, I just left. The same thing happened when I went in to buy a Henry repeating .22. I left then as well and went online to Buds gun shop and got a great deal with great customer service. I'll never buy a gun, ammo, or cleaning supplies from this store again. At least not until something drastic is done about it. read more

The comment is only for the gun shop inside, not the rest of the store. I arrived on a Sat. afternoon (approx 13:30) to pick up a three day hold purchase. It was crowded as usual and I waited approx 45 min. The associates are friendly and knowledgeable but the work space is cluttered and disorganized. My main complaint is the complete disregard for the protection of private information. The computer screen that has the background check questionnaire on it is facing the customers in the store at eye level, (people can see SSN, DOB, Address, and such). The associate (handling my weapon) publicly announced my SSN, and such when verifying my background data sheet, including my place of birth etc. The background data sheet was routinely left on the counter face up for all to read, as well, my DL. My attempts to keep my data private were ignored and this ignorance went all the way to the manager on duty. The manager on duty left my data sheet out for others to read also. There are people with cell phones out, wandering eyes, etc. and it's stunning to me that weapons and there owners are treated with this much blatant lack of situational awareness. I feel It is just too risky to make weapon purchases at this store. read more

I will never shop in this store again. They run ads and I drove up to Springhill, FL, from Port Richey, FL. I did not have any luck with the customer service employee, I called asked if they had the Gravity Lounge Chairs in stock, she said yes like 8 of them, asked for the 12, air conditioners and said 23 in stock. Drove up to Springhill a second time and they did not have any, took half hour both days to get there and back. That store was a mess. The employees there are so rude and unfriendly. so unorganized. This place is falling apart. The store years ago used to be great, but I don't think they have made any changes since they opened including the carts. Good luck finding a cart as well, there's usually only one or two to choose from. Every time I come the parking lot is full of carts and maybe one employee pushing some back. The main reason I shop here is for goat and horse feed. The only reason I give 2 stars and not one is they always have the feed in stock HOWEVER, you must inspect every bag you load as I have had multiple problems with mice and rats that chewed holes in the bags in the store (I've seen them run across the floor). There's no flat carts for hauling loads of feed, instead you have to use a shopping cart. Again back to the carts. I don't think they have replaced a cart from the day this store opened, every cart is falling apart and is a workout trying to maneuver it though the store. The employees have no idea what is in their store most of the time and I've never had an employee ask me if I needed help. I saw an older woman walk up to three employees who were having a conversation and not one of them acknowledged her. My most recent trip the parking lot was full of carts, 2 registers open, a line half way back though the store and employees just walking around and talking. I've been trying to get a certain breed of chick they've had in the past but have not had for a number of months now. I've even asked if they could order and they said they would but when I've called on Saturday to see if those breeds of chicks came in on Friday they always say "no". They also do not carry organic chicken scratch and I don't recall seeing any organic chick feed either. I have to go to another big name farm supply store for those 2 things which is really out of the way. You can't feed non-organic feed and treats if you want organic eggs. read more

I had to go back out into the parking lot and fetch my own. no help to be found on the sales floor except for a woman walking with a clip board asking customers about their drinking water. another staff member at the back end of the store sitting on boxed merchandise playing on her phone. prices wrong when scanned at the register. credit card machines NEVER work for the chip scan unless you do the hokey pokey with your card. place is worse then Wal-Mart. We were in line for free popcorns, the long dark blonde hair woman worker was packing bags of popcorns, the woman in front of me got her popcorns and said to the woman worker: "Thank you ". She answered: " You are welcome". To my turn, after picking my popcorns I said : " Thank you " . The woman worker looked at me then stared at me from top to toes and did not say a word, I stepped to the side, the person behind me was my husband, after getting his popcorns he said to the woman worker :" Thank you ". She smiled and with a pleasant voice ; " You are very welcome ". I would call this woman worker at Rural King is an uneducated racist because I am Asian, my husband is Caucasian and the woman in front of me is also Caucasian. I had no idea what this store was up until recently when I went in on a recommendation from a neighbor. All I can say is that I really like this place, and I'm the farthest thing from "country folk." I've purchased everything from pool supplies, clothing, garden decor, outdoor furniture, animal feed and home improvement items. I especially like their nursery where the plants are well taken care of. The customer service is also incredibly friendly and helpful. My daughter enjoys the free popcorn they hand out at the entrance as well as the section where they have chicks, baby ducks and bunnies. Other chain stores carry a lot of the same stuff, but you get a better deal with Rural King's prices. read more
