Atmosphere was very nice, we came on a Saturday at lunch and it was not busy at all. Our waitress was very friendly. Menu had lots of options. Kids menu too, very reasonable priced which I was surprised. My husband ordered an appetizer platter with his meal. He liked almost everything, but the potato skins tasted chemically- he didn't eat those. I had a buffalo chicken salad. It had very little veggies in it, not enough dressing. And the chicken (which I had asked for crispy came out grilled.) it was a little underwhelming for the $55 price tag for my family. I may go back in the future. Stopped in here while visiting Colgate for the weekend. My boyfriend was absolutely raving about this spot as this used to be his go-to spot back in college. It was pretty good for being a college go-to spot. We had the wings with italian hot sauce, steak panini, mac & cheese bites, and a chicken panini. Everything was pretty solid. Service was quick and nice and food came out pretty quick. The spot is also relatively clean and spacious. Would def recommend if you're visiting Colgate and need something to eat! read more

It's inconsistent which seems to be consistent for them from other reviews. Makes me sad because I have had some good things that were disappointing the second time around. Prices aren't horrendous but not a price point where I want to gamble. I picked this place based in the location as I was meeting a friend for lunch and we'd each be driving 45 minutes- 1 hr. It was a great call!! Yummy food in a comfortable setting. We were among the first diners on a recent Saturday afternoon but people continued to come in. The walls are full of local and national sports team photos and memorabilia. TVs were on different games/events. Our waitress was the perfect combination of friendly and helpful. She quickly greeted us, gave us menus and took our drink orders. When she came back we'd been chatting so much we hadn't looked at the menu. She was good with that and checked back in a reasonable amount of time to take our order. I had the build your own burger with Swiss cheese and mushrooms (and the lettuce tomato and onion that was included). I picked sweet potato fries for my side. There was NOT an up charge for this!! My friend had the chicken and pesto panini with fries. We each had iced tea -which only comes unsweetened (bonus points for this!!) Our waitress checked in to make sure we were set and enjoying our meal and that our drinks were full and at the end even offered an alternative route for me to take home as she'd heard me talking about a road closure on the route I would have taken. Food was good, the server was nice. My biggest issue was that they split our group even though there was a perfect fine table for our group of nine people. First argument was that they wanted to " leave it open just in case a bigger group showed," then they didn't "have enough chairs," and finally they said there was a "big party coming in later." That sounds like a reservation to me. Which is fair. But before my group arrived we called ahead and asked to make a reservation, and we were turned down by the person on the phone because they "don't allow reservations." In town for a Colgate athletics camp. Found this place on yelp. Definitely exceeded expectations. My son had the wings. They were large and well prepared. Really good. Potato skins were really good as well. Buffalo chicken salad was really good as well. Freshly made salad with buffalo chicken tenders and great homemade ranch dressing. Friendly and great atmosphere. My wife and I stopped in to have dinner with my parents as we came back to NY. I love the little town of Hamilton and this is a nice little corner bar. I appreciate the owners passion for good beer and both the on tap and can cooler selection is top notch. For dinner I had the meatloaf, which I love. Their take on meatloaf is excellent with the addition of blue cheese. Lots of flavor and the portion was just the right size My wife had a fish fry. She didn't care for it much, saying that the breading was soggy. Her entire meal was a bit cool like it sat for a minute to long before it was brought out. All in all the place is great and I think that every once in a while you will run into a meal that isn't the best. read more

Me and my family came to this small town in Hamilton, New York to visit the college my parents went to. We decided to go out to dinner and Rusch's was recommended by the B&B we were staying at. There were some small inconveniences, the men's bathroom's lock wouldn't really hold the door closed, our waiter said she was getting me a coke, but it wasn't a coke, it was a Pepsi. Of course, this all wasn't very important but did not help with impressing me either. We got an appetizer which was pretty good, popper shrimp. And for my entree I got a burger with lettuce, sautéed onions, mushrooms, cheddar cheese, and bacon. While the burger was good the mashed potatoes I got on the side were terrible. They were hard and tasted like my grandmas carpet. Overall, it wasn't terrible but wasn't worth more then four stars either. read more

Friday night at Rusch's - we sat at the bar, just looking for appetizers and a drink. Quick service, we ordered the flatbread pizza and mozzi sticks. Mozzi sticks were below average, small, nothing to rave about. The pizza was good, we did the Meat Lovers. Now let's fast forward to Sunday when we stopped in spur of the moment while in the area - horrible. Flat soda, took FOREVER, we arrived at 2:30, sat at the bar, ordered promptly the Minor League Nachos, FINALLY set them down in front of us 30 minutes later, ugh! And they really were not what we expected, we chose steak as a topper, they must have forgotten to cut it up? On vacation in upstate NY, we stopped in Rusch's for dinner. The server was very nice but service was super slow. It was busy and there was only one person working in the bar section. We ordered Mac and cheese bites and hot wings as an appetizer. Both were very good. We ordered a Reuben panini and fries to split. We ended up getting sweet potato fries instead of regular. First of all the servers were obviously very busy, so I don't mean this as an insult towards them because I think they were truly trying their best. Unfortunately they forgot to put in our appetizer, the sandwich I ordered was tough to the point of me washing it down with water between bites, the fries were cold and soggy and the salad my girlfriend ordered was literally Romain lettuce with 10 croutons and a chicken tender. I had come here before and found it to be a pretty good restaurant so I'll blame Covid and being understaffed for tonight, but regardless it was a pretty poor experience non the less. read more

Went here after a recommendation from the Wendt Inn just up the road, and came to find that all the food everyone ordered was just filled with grease. While staying at the nearby Lebanon Reservoir Campground in our RV, we wanted to explore the town of Hamilton. We parked near the park in the center of town and proceeded to walk the historic streets. After making an earlier stop at a local brewery, we got to the far end of town and were ready for a second beer and felt the draw of Rusch's Bar & Tavern. Great choice! Although I thought I was going to find more bar than grill, the exterior may be a little confusing. What we found was a crowded dining room of locals enjoying a Friday Night meal out on the town - many were families with children, I was confused because there was a shuffle board table pushed into a corner with tables right next to it. Not to worry, a quick turn to the right and we found the bar with numerous large screen TV's, all with different sporting events taking place - even got to see the Dodgers score their first run against the local favorite Met's, ultimately delivering a 7-2 victory - Go Dodgers! The bartender was a friendly guy. When asked about IPA's we told him what we like and he found one that was very close to our favorite California IPA - Stones (which he was surprisingly familiar with). The conversation was great, talking about everything from local attractions, things to see and do and some of the differences between NY & CA. We were engaged by several locals and were made to feel right at home. I wanted to know about 'local' dishes and was told about their greens. Hmmm, I wish I had taken a picture and some notes, but we were just having a good time I do remember there was garlic, Pancetta and Parmesan cheese. I'll have to go back and try it again, it was awesome and I understand all of the restaurants in the area have their own version - but if you are here you got to check out Rusch's Greens! After a while, the owner joined us at the bar. Turns out he is a local REALTOR, so he was able to satisfy my REALTOR brain about some of the questions I had on local real estate practices...for example, whats with the Villages and Towns? What is a City in NY - well, thats another topic for another post. Just know we had a great time. Food was good, Beer was Cold and Ambiance was incredibly friendly...Highly recommended! This is a friendly diner/restaurant with a full bar, adjacent bar seating and a full dining room. We came at lunch time and the place was 90% full. There was only a few waitresses and they were working fast and efficiently. We ordered the spicy chicken sub with a side of Parmesan truffle fries and chicken tenders with a side of regular fries. The price was a bit high for a Blue Moon but nonetheless was cold, delicious and served with a thick slice of orange. We ordered a burger made vegetarian with sweet potato fries and the street tacos. Stopped here on my way passing through. Was surprised by the outside of the building. As i walked through i immediately felt a great atmosphere. The serving was fantastic. I appreciated the wide variety of beers to pick from. Being me, I did my homework on the menu and already knew what I wanted coming In but the food selection was great.
