This is a very nice inn in the picturesque town of Cazenovia, NY. Peaceful when I was there in mid-May. It's an easy walk to the lake. My room was fine but did not have a refrigerator. The tap water was very hot. The shower temp was easy to adjust, but the flow rate was pretty extreme. Good thing it drained well. We stayed at the hotel on our way to Syracuse. I actually loved the old-time feel of the hotel, and the basement pub was a plus with good food and atmosphere. It was really a great experience - especially knowing the history of the building. However... For those having issues climbing stairs, be mindful that there is no elevator, the rooms are as expected for an historical building; and, there isn't much of a breakfast for the 'free breakfast'. The person seating me was a little hesitant as I was dining alone and wasn't sure if they had a table for one. I was caught a little off guard. But, she got approval to sit me at a table for 4. I had Fiona as my server. She remembered me from the pub the night before where I ate with my husband. Once again she was very attentive, knowledgeable and friendly. We chatted for a bit about stuff, which was great as I was dining alone. She's very sweet and very much made sure that I had everything I needed. Much appreciated. I was treated to a wonderful birthday dinner in the Pub at the Linklaen House in Cazenovia last week by my son & grandson. The menu selection was amazing which made it difficult to make a selection. Understand for many that eating at home is preferred but for us and our situation, eating out has been our choice the last few years. There was only one waitress on staff during the winter festival, and a few tables were seated so I wasn't expecting great service. The tables were slanted and we were worried that our glasses would slide off. Dusty and poorly lit. The house wine was HORRIBLE. And the Smithwicks beer was flat and tasted like its been sitting for months. Popovers that they give you instead of bread were yummy. The calamari had a hair in it. Gross. The chicken in my "flatbread" that was just an attempt at a gyro tasted microwaved and was so chewy. The wagyu burger was surprisingly good despite it looking so unappetizing. We stay here every time we come to central NY. We stay here so often that we are on first name basis with the staff. We have family in NY so we visit 6+ times a year. We stay in a suite. I don't know what the other rooms look like. We have a beautiful sitting room. Our bathroom has a extra large soaking tub with jets. (Easily fits two). It also has a shower. Our room also has a kitchenette. We have a lovely view of Cazenovia. Cazenovia it's just a quaint town in central NY. The shops are all small business. The service you get is wonderful. read more

I have come here before but never to stay. As we approached the house, we found parking near by assigned to people who stay here. That's good. When we came to the front desk, no one was there. I had to track down the receptionist. We got checked with no problem and went to our room. It is spacious with a king but the door is old and we needed a key. The knob is loose and could be easily compromised. The mattress needs upgrading and the TV is 32". Really in a day and time when you can get a a 65" for under $300 at Walmart makes this unacceptable. Had to crank volume all the way up and it was still not adequate. The room is electric heat making the heating of the room east and quiet. That's a bonus. No carpets on the wood floor making it cold. The room was clean but has no coffee maker , microwave, nor refrigerator. We went to dinner at tavern and menu is extensive. I got the wagu Hamburg and my wife the cowboy Mac and cheese. They sat us right in front of fireplace which made for a nice, warm evening in a cold night. Service was excellent. Food was above average and portions were ok. Wasn't too pricey either. All in all a good stay and I'd stay here again , although there are other places here I'd like to stay at to compare. Had to add something about continental breakfast. Yes waffles again! But to be truthful, the batter was terrible. I suggest New Hope Mills, a local business to the Syracuse area. read more

After a long day of traveling, our hotel recommended the Lincklaen House for dinner. It was a fixture in the town and easy to find with convenient parking. They offered a choice in dining-upstairs was more formal, old, classic! Downstairs was much more casual pub style atmosphere. The bar was full, half the tables in use. We were seated adjacent to a comfortable fireplace and it felt very nice! Our server was prompt, friendly and ready with information. We ordered a French Dip with fries (very good) and a turkey Reuben (also very good). Prices were reasonable, service very good, food fresh, warm and tasty, ambiance was quaint, warm and friendly! We went to Sunday brunch at the Lincklaen Inn, it is $16 for a huge buffet spread, it was very busy and I highly recommend making a reservation before coming. The food was phenomenal; they have an omelette station tons of pastries, strawberries with hot chocolate sauce, just so much to choose from. They serve mimosas and bloody Mary's. Not as many options for kids and would not recommend it for young kids. There are lots of little shops to explore and the waterfront is a close walk. Will definitely be back! read more

Came last night for early dinner in the tavern. Dark, yet cozy with a blazing fire in the fireplace. Waitstaff are super attentive and friendly. Nice drink option- although I opted for a saranac root beer (so goood). They serve complimentary popovers with a honey infused butter- what a nice touch. For dinner, we got the eggplant napolean (basically veggies over pasta), the chicken rice and bean bowl, and the burger. Burger was charred on outside- juicy meat, tasty option. It came with kettle chips. The chicken rice and bean bowl was good- lots of veggies, generous portion. The eggplant napolean was really fresh tasting and light. Beautiful old Inn with great staff and very comfortable beds in one of a kind rooms. Highly recommend staying here. And their food is FANTASTIC!!! During my years in Caz I visited the Lincklean for the following: Lunch w/ parents during family weekend. - BBQ Chicken Pizza - always delicious. Fancy dinner date w/ the main squeeze. - Popovers are awesome and make dinner feel a little fancier. - Buffalo Chicken Sandwich - our go to. Senior Class Dinner. - Chicken Picata with potatoes & a melody of zucchini, squash and carrots was obviously better than any cafeteria food. Yum yum! Saturday nights w/ the gals @ Seven Stone Steps. - One of my favorite spots to cause trouble. - Location of my 21st Birthday celebration. - Fabulous bartenders who were known to make up drinks (I hope for the sake of current college kids this is still going on.) - Live music on the weekends. Wedding. - Lovely back garden. - Elegant rooms available for folks to stay. - Nice acoustics for a DJ and plenty of room for a dance floor (buffet set up in a different room). If I happened to be rolling through Caz in the future I would absolutely stop by the Lincklean. Whether in the main dining room upstairs or the tavern downstairs there is a bit of elegant with good food and a decent price tag that you just don't get many places in the area. read more

As as you would have expect very accommodating. I called with only 30 minutes before they closed and probably over complained about my new diet. The Linklaen House is a cornerstone of the Cazenovia community. It is comprised of 4 areas...the upstairs dining room, the 7 steps pub, Duepassi Pizza, and the Bar. The dining room and pub work out of the same kitchen. I am not sure about the pizza place. The dining room and pub menus are available in both spaces. The choices have good variety and consistency. There is also a seasonal outdoors dining patio, which I do enjoy. Duepassi Pizza does this Gourmet-styled pizza well. The bar is the cornerstone. I guess that quality depends on the bar tender. I had often gotten Manhattans that were mostly whiskey on the rocks...that is not a Manhattan. However, more recently, their cocktails have improved. The waitstaff is consistently competent...again, the phrase is meant to be a strong complement. read more

So this review is just for the Sunday brunch. It was really tasty and there were tons of different food types there. You have to make reservations ahead of time, but you usually wont have an issue getting in. It is one of the higher priced buffets, but that is because the quality of the food is on the higher end as well. Also, who doesn't love the idea of a brunch buffet! Once you go in, you will go to the main stations and they will find your reservation and seat you accordingly. After you order what ever drink you want, its time to dive into the food. There is just about everything you could possibly want there. They have common items like bacon, sausage, and eggs. Then they have other items like eggs Benedict, Sausage gravy with biscuits, and fresh made to order omelets. After you have had your fill of all the amazing breakfast items, you can hit of the desserts! There is a delicious apple crisp and all kinds of fruits that you can eat fresh or dip in chocolate! All and all I really enjoyed my meal here. The were a couple of things that could be fixed though. The eggs Benedict were really good, but we really wanted more sauce. If there could be a side jar of sauce that would be great. The only other issue, was the gravy should have been much more hot. I do recommend coming here ASAP! read more

Visited this Sunday July 23 for brunch. Overall the food was good. Eggs Benedict muffins were quite hard most likely from being frozen then cooked while still moist. Staff is always pleasant, however some of the customers are another story. An older lady with a dog inside was very rude and inconsiderate. She stood in the main entrance blocking patrons from passing through. I heard several people ask her to move as myself did twice and she rolled her eyes. Same lady has been there in the past and even staff I could tell was unhappy with her. Very clean environment, tentative staff, good choices for brunch buffet and fair priced. The Lincklaen House is a combination hotel/restaurant/tavern located in the center of Cazenovia. Whether you decide on the finer dining upstairs, or the pub menu downstairs, the food is fantastic with great service to boot. In the upstairs portion of the Lincklaen House, you will be treated to a fine dining experience, with a great wine list and entrees. The upstairs has a large fireplace which is always lit in the winter. If you come during the holiday season, it always looks beautiful with their Christmas tree and other decoration throughout the dining area. They also serve brunch upstairs every Sunday with an assortment of food that is all-you-can-eat. I think it is somewhere in the neighborhood of $12 for brunch. Good choices here with fresh omelettes, breads, and the usual breakfast foods. My favorite part of the Lincklaen House is the tavern downstairs, The Seven Stone Steps. Here you can have a tavern-style meal in a small and intimate dining area. On the other side of this dining area is a wood paneled bar area where people have scratched their initials over the years, giving it a very cool ambience. They have live music on Saturday nights, which is always a blast, and the bar prices are very reasonable. I highly recommend stopping in for a formal dinner, or an informal night of food and drinks downstairs if you're in Cazenovia. read more

From what I've come to understand is there are 3 restaurants connected/in the lincklaen house. There is the fine dining, the tap room/tavern and then the pizza place (hopefully this helps some confused minds). My boyfriend and I stayed in the hotel and after looking at Yelp- the fine dining in the lincklaen house was the top rated place to eat at in town (convenient!). The fine dining is reservations only but we had the option for room service where we could order from any or all of the 3 restaurants (even more convenient!). We chose off of the the fine dining menu and ordered the sundried tomato and smoked Gouda fondue served with pretzels to dip, I had the beef tenderloin Marsala, my boyfriend had the 12 oz New York strip steak with a tomato and garlic ragu sauce, he had the strawberry cheesecake and I had the special pumpkin cake with cream cheese frosting and candied pecan. The food was ready in less than 30 minutes and we had to go pick it up at the front desk due to covid procedures. The fondue was great and pretzels were even better - it probably would have been best fresh hot but it was still good. I was disappointed with my beef tenderloin Marsala- the flavors were great. It was served with mashed potatoes and some veg and a great mushroom Marsala sauce, however, I was given one slice of tenderloin (maybe 4 oz of meat so 4 stars). My boyfriend had no complaints about his especially since he had 12 oz of meat! Oh man but the desserts were by far the best. You could tell they were home made and just amazing. I'll be dreaming about the pumpkin cake. I definitely recommend this place and even recommend a staycation at the lincklaen house with some great room service. Made a business trip out to Cazenovia and stopped in for lunch at the Lincklaen House with a couple colleagues. The meal started off with fresh popovers which were a nice balance between a crunchy croissant crust with a hollow interior and a custard like lining. A little bit bland but with some honey butter and a touch of salt they hit the spot. We all ended up getting the open faced beef tenderloin sandwich special with fresh made chips. The steak was served on garlic French bread covered in a Gouda sauce with peppers, onions and mushrooms. Everything was a bit overlooked with the steak closer to medium well than medium rare as advertised and the peppers were basically falling apart. No sear to speak of on the steak but despite the flaws it was satisfying especially with the rich cheese sauce bringing it together. The chips were pretty fantastic and obviously fresh cooked. Some were darkly fried and extra crisp and some were a touch softer but they were easily the high point of the meal. Well salted and some of the better house made chips I've had. The restaurant is located in the basement of the hotel and the decor is comfortable and a bit dated. Service was prompt and very pleasant and everything came out expeditiously. If I find myself in Cazenovia for lunch again I'd keep the Lincklaer on my list of options but wouldn't call it a favorite either. read more

Update: you should discover their menu. there are some foods that are amazingly good in there but some of them are not as good as the others. lobster bisque is one of the good ones. Asian salad is good, but i had it in 2 different version in two different occasions. i liked the first one much better. Kobe burger is very good and tasty. they have good chicken riggies too. the sauce is enough and the riggies are perfectly cooked. not too soft, not under cook. if the weather's good always sit out side. Good atmosphere good food. Food is not the best but you can not get better food in such an atmosphere in Cazenovia. read more

Stayed at the Lincklaen House for two days while here on business. The first night I ordered the special which was shrimp scampi and linguini. It was delisted, nice size shrimp and very flavorful pasta. I personal LOVED the amount of Garlic. Tonight was a busy night, but I very much enjoyed the scallops on special. I ate here twice during a recent visit to Cazenovia and have to say, that I wasn't really impressed. ON the positive side, the service was good with friendly staff. Also they do have a nice bar, with some excellent cocktails. (Unfortunately, they don't have a copy of their cocktail menu on their website, so I can't give the name of the very delicious gin based libation that I enjoyed each time I ate there; but i can vouch for it; whatever they call it!) The food however was a mixed bag. On my first trip I ate alone. I started with a special appetizer, a duck stuffed "fried wanton". It wasn't good. I'm not sure what the stuffing was, but there wasn't much of it, and it didn't taste like duck. The plate was covered w/ an abundant squeeze of sraracha sauce, and a small serving of a bottled Vietnamese styled sweet&hot chili sauce. I would have hoped for something more imaginative; but given the quality of the wanton's I was glad enough for the choice. I left one of the wantons on the plate. My main course was the Eggplant Napoleon. It is comprised of three thick slices of eggplant, breaded and deep fried, w/ a layer of steamed spinach above, and topped w/ a melted mozzarella cheese. All the above served on top of pasta w/ the house sauce. Essentially, the house take on eggplant parm. Not bad, but could have been better. The house red sauce is a bit thin and fairly bland. The pasta was over-cooked. The presentation was nice; but the dish lacked any real punch. The first night's meal was "fair"; and given the thin choices of dining in town, I opted for a return trip; this time w/ a group of co-workers. On my second trip I had a cup of the soup de jour; a creamy ham soup. I was very good! One of my friend had the Seafood Bisque, which was utterly lacking in any sort of aquatic life beyond the dish's name. A bit of a disappointment there. One friend enjoyed a salad, which she reviewed favorably. My main on this visit was the Seafood Soba Noodles. It was bad. I do a fair amount of cooking, and I know soba noodles; and these weren't them. The seafood was mostly the "small" size shrimp that overcrowd the "all you can eat" shrimp bars that plagued the nation's dining scene back in the 1990's. They found a new home.... The broth wasn't quite miso; and wasn't quite seafood. Generally it lacked any real distinctive flavor. One of my friends ordered the Pasta Richard; a "blackened" chicken breast over linguini in a sherry cream sauce. She enjoyed it, though the chicken looked more grilled to me than "blackened". Friend two had the Beef Tornado, which is a fairly small portion of tenderloin (4 oz) over garlic mashed. It was as advertised, and my friend said the beef was tender and properly cooked. I give the place 3 stars, but that might be stretching it a bit. I will say that the decor is pleasant, and the ambiance pleasing. read more
