    Corn chowder

Had a nice lunch at The Tavern at the Colgate Inn. We ate the corn chowder soup and Caesar salad. The soup is creamy and made from local sweet corn with potatoes and bacon. It is hearty and delicious on a chilly day. The salads were crisp with tasty Caesar dressing, shaved Parmesan, and big croutons. The service was friendly and the fireplace is very inviting.

With great outdoor seating at the Colgate inn, the Tavern is great for lunch or dinner, or even just grabbing a beer at the bar. The burger and fish came out quickly and the service from the staff was attentive while dealing with several others. In terms of price, this is a pricier option in Hamilton for the quantity of food. My suggestion is to go to the bar or "the library" their speakeasy and grab drinks here for the experience and to see the beautiful inn and grab food in the town to continue exploring.

Came for lunch. The Colgate Inn Tavern once was very good. Haven't been here in years, but decided to give it a try since there are limited dining choices in Hamilton, NY. My friend and I started with the soup of the day, loaded potato soup. Arrived luke warm after a 20 minute wait. Decided not to send it back to reheat, because we had already waited 20 minutes! If it had been HOT, it would have been really tasty, if it had been hot. We also ordered the endive and golden beet salad, which showed up 15 minutes after the soup. Fortunately it was supposed to be served cold and was delicious. See photo

When not familiar with food establishments in a town, I always seek a place with a 4+ rating in Yelp, and have never been disappointed! That includes this place! Oh my! The soup of the day for lunch was French Onion, and I think it was the best I've ever had! Definitely top 3. The turkey panini was excellent also. And the chocolate chip cookie skillet dessert was just the right size - and fantastic! I will be back here! My server was Shannon, and she was also fantastic- attentive, and served the food with perfect timing - I wasn't rushed to finish any part of my meal, and the next item was served upon completion of the former. I can't wait to return!

Limited menu but very well executed. The best poutine I've ever had! Absolutely delicious food and friendly service.

Staff were very accommodating and even helped fix a table that was slightly wobbly. Server was nice and the ambience was pleasant in the dining area. Not too loud, and wasn't packed. Food: the food was very good. We started off with a couple drinks and plentiful amounts of breads. I ordered a simple craft beer and my partner had the winter margarita which was exceptional with great presentation. We ordered the whipped feta skillet for an appetizer and it was very good as I never had anything like this before. My main course consisted of the braised short ribs (exceptional by the way) and my partner ordered the ratatouille (exceptional as well). Presentation and flavor for both and outstanding. I appreciate the black slate plates which were a nice touch. I hope the pictures do justice because the food was very good. . As expensive this place is and with the newer and younger staff, they did appear knowledgeable in how to navigate the restaurant world. In my opinion. The 1 star reviews might not really be necessary for this establishment because you felt slighted a bit, so reader be wary of allowing other bad reviews Influence your choice on eating here. Check their rating history, and if it's typically 1 star reviews, maybe it's just them? Overall we felt it was a great experience, the ambience and fireplace were nice , food was very good overall! We would come back, everything seems to be going up in price now adays, so it wasn't "too" unreasonable overall. They do offer some rich history with old photos of neighboring towns which I thought was very cool to see the historic side of things.

A typical day of Frank food consists of mushy veggies, lots of chicken, rice of some sort, and some strange cold pasta salad. If you're looking for a nice date spot, this is the place. The atmosphere is warm and inclusive. There are lots of benches making the space feel super cozy. If you're lucky, on occasion, Frank puts on special dinners. Some highlights include Root Fest (all vegan dinner), Franksgiving, and Sunday brunch. I highly recommend trying the vegetable spring rolls. The burgers are always a solid option, Mac n cheese always slaps. Personally, my favorite stations are the yogurt and fruit bar, the coffee station (sometimes hit or miss), and obviously the ice cream station (personal fav is the soft-serve). This wouldn't be an in-depth review if I didn't highlight some of the pitfalls. Lines tend to be long during lunch and dinner hours. If you're looking for a quick in and out on the type lunch, you probably don't wanna go to Frank. There are limited to-go options besides breakfast items. However, this isn't to say that I don't spend hours in frank with my friends, typically eating about three dinners each. Seriously don't knock it until you try it, make a trip down to Frank dining hall and enjoy a lovely dinner, lunch, or quick breakfast with a friend. You will never go hungry at Frank, whether you enjoy your food ehhhh, and always remember if you are ever constipated, Frank can help with that. When asked "What is your favorite thing about Frank?" Only thing missing is late night Frank.

When I read over the reviews, everyone raved about their baked goods - so of course I ordered the bread pudding in addition to a rosemary chickpea salad with grilled chicken. The salad was like a take on Thanksgiving stuffing with chickpeas. It was good a little thick but has good flavor. The grilled chicken did not have any flavor to it but once mixed into the salad it was good. The stand out for me was definitely the bread pudding. It had layers of fresh apples in between and was very moist. I really enjoyed this and even cold it was still very delicious. They mentioned to me that the apples were from a local farm, which I loved. Definitely recommend checking out the baked goods for sure.
