I normally book a last minute appointment online so I've never consistently seen the same vet but it doesn't matter to me because every one of them has been great. There are other vet clinics that are cheaper than this office but pets are a luxury expense. If you cannot afford to get a pet, maybe it's best not to have one since you won't be able to really care for them. However, I am a person that cares about prices so I will list them here for others awareness based on what I have been charged: exam: $86.90 regulatory waste fee: $7.50 anal gland expression: $41.50 fecal test with Giardia: $61.20 topical flea/tick/heartworm med (revolution-1 month supply): $23.49 clavamox drops (15 ml): $71.00 Leptospirosis vaccine (shot 1 and shot 2 ): $33 each, $66 total alton-deworm $38.60 This is my first pet ever so I had a lot of questions for the vets. I've NEVER felt rushed by the vets. Each vet has been willing to listen to my questions/issues and answer me thoroughly by providing good tips on how to care for my pup. I've never felt pressured to buying any products from them. When I ask them to approve a request from Chewy.com or Petsmart.com about a prescription for a flea/tick/heartwork product they are always happy to authorize the approval for it. I've always been seen on time or early (when I arrive early) so they are punctual for the appointments. I highly recommend this clinic! Other things to note: --Each vet takes notes of the visit in their own way. I've received notes in PDF attached to email. I've also received notes via Scribenotes where it's 'voice to text' technology (I provided my consent to be recorded). But the notes are always emailed the same day of the visit which helps with processing pet insurance claims. --You can book an appointment online (which is super easy to do) but you cannot cancel or reschedule the appointment online ( you have to call) --Everyone here is so friendly and willing to take care of your pet because they know how much you love them.

About to switch to a different vet…read more They are always too busy to get back to your preferred vet, and if you have a recurring issue, it's like starting over each time and it costs a fortune over and over again. They get so busy that they send you to a different vet, but of course that causes issues because now the dog's medical records are spread all over the place. Sick and tired of this.

We wanted a closer place to groom our cats and we figured it would be about $150.00 for grooming and vaccs, turned into $270.00! A stool check was $48.00! Oh the fees... and double what Macrae charges for vaccinations. So back to Smitten Kitten we go for grooming.

My usual vet was short staffed so they referred me to VEG ER for Pets. When I came into the hospital I was a bit frantic explaining what had happened. The intake person was so calm and nice. The vet tech was also very nice and asked if I was comfortable holding my dog because if I wasn't she could get someone else to do it. Dr Sands was awesome and explained that my dog would be okay and that he just needed to continue taking Benadryl. I'm so thankful that VEG ER for Pets is open 24/7 and in the West Des Moines area so I no longer need to drive all the way to Des Moines for 24/7 emergency care. I'm a little obsessed with the health of my dog and worry about every little thing so you will likely see me and my pup in the future! UPDATED REVIEW: We…read moreare updating our original review because, after sharing our concerns, the Director of Veterinary Medicine, Dr. Cates, personally reached out to us and completely changed our experience with the ARL. Our original experience after adopting our 11-week-old kitten, Lola, was heartbreaking and extremely frustrating. When we adopted her, we were not informed that she had been spayed the day before, and we received little to no communication about her surgery, recovery, activity restrictions, incision care, warning signs, or follow-up care. Just two days after bringing her home, she developed a noticeable limp and an extremely high fever, which resulted in multiple veterinary visits and significant concern for her health. We were especially frustrated by our initial experience when we brought Lola back to the ARL for follow-up care. At the time, we struggled to get updates about her condition and felt like we were left in the dark about what was happening with our kitten. However, we want to recognize that Dr. Cates took our concerns seriously and stepped in to make sure Lola received the care she needed. She personally reached out to us, kept us updated over multiple days, called us with updates, answered our questions, and made sure Lola received appropriate veterinary care. Most importantly, Dr. Cates provided the care and attention that ultimately helped get Lola healthy again. We do still wish this level of care and communication had been provided from the beginning, particularly on Friday when Lola was first brought back to the ARL for follow-up. We wish we hadn't needed to leave a negative review in order for our concerns to be heard and for this level of communication to happen. That being said, we appreciate Dr. Cates reaching out, listening to our concerns, and following through with Lola's care. We are very thankful to say that Lola is doing much better. We hope the ARL can take what happened as an opportunity to improve communication with adopters. Complications can happen, and we understand that. What matters is making sure adopters are informed, supported, and included in their pet's care.

Then the cops called the ARL the lady's last name was Oswalt and she acted very rude yelling at me when I was trying to explain what was going on. Eventually took the dogs after throwing a fit because she had to come get them.
