I have been going to Rush dental in Maple Lawn for several years now. Today's service was a shocker. Hygienist showed up late to a 7am appt which people take because they have to go to work. Then when I said I needed to be out of there by 8am, the cleaning lasted 10 minutes. She took my X-rays, the doctor came in and didn't even look at my mouth, but told me I needed 2 crowns - $2300 please and asked me if I floss! I floss religiously, but then the Dr. would have known that if she had taken a look at my mouth. After telling me I needed two crowns, she finally looked at my mouth for all of 10 seconds. So disappointed. So angry that my insurance will pay $250 for that service. Of course, I don't trust the diagnosis and will have to take the time to get a second opinion. read more

This is a superior dental practice, mercury free (!) and run by the loveliest people. Yes, I drive all the way from the other side of town to be seen by Dr. Rush. At first it was simply because I wanted to go to a dental office that didn't have mercury vapor in the air, but after my first visit, I returned because of the meticulous cleanings and examinations. The family who manages and runs this dental office are just wonderful people. They're extremely friendly from the front office to the back where they could (but don't) treat you like a number. And there is zero upselling here. I asked whether I was a candidate to whiten my teeth and not once did they mention that they could do it in their office. Instead, I just got a straight answer to my question about my teeth. This dental office is out of network for me, but I'll continue coming here because when you find a gem, you stay with them and Ahwatukee Family Dental are pure gems. read more

Run away from this practice. My adult son and I both moved to this area which meant we were 35 miles from the dentist we used for years. I got a recommendation for this practice and both my son and I had a cleaning and exam. For my visit the treatment plan used up all our dental benefits and $1600 out pocket. When my son had his appointment it was the same thing. Supposedly a mouth full of cavities with $2000 out of pocket after exhausting his benefits. He then went back to our original dentist for a 2nd opinion. This office sent over someone else's x-rays. While there were some cavities because he hadn't seen the dentist in a while, it was nothing like this office claimed. Out of pocket is $300. As far as crowns, rather they completing them in one visit you have to make two appointments 3 weeks apart. They have a beautiful expensive-looking office and now we know how they pay for it. I think any healthcare provider who exploits patients to do unnecessary work is disgusting. Run, don't walk, to another dentist. read more

I was referred to this dentist by my wife, she came to this dentist several times already and she loves it. I had great experience on my first visit As well. The office is extremely clean and organized. they have also have a TV placed above the chair so you can watch while the dentist works on your teeth. All the staff is very knowledgeable And very friendly. Upon completion of my appointment I was provided detailed description of what needs to be done on my teeth in writing and pictures. I'll never go anywhere else. Contrary to what a couple of bad reviewers said, they do not upsell you or do any unnecessary work. They only use the latest technology and highest quality equipment, which includes advanced detection techniques that allows them to detect smaller cavities earlier than places who don't want to spend the money on this equipment. This means that they can catch cavities when they're smaller before they become a bigger problem and they can be taken care of quickly, easily and sometimes even without anesthetic. The kids area is awesome with tons of Legos and toys, nicely decorated for kids with two loungers and a big screen TV. The adult seating area is very nicely furnished with comfortable couches and arm chairs. The staff is very friendly and sociable, I feel very comfortable with them with my kids. The exam rooms were very open and very clean. They were very thorough examining and doing their work efficiently. Both dentist were kind, personable, and very patient with my sons who are 6 and 4. BE WARY with this dental office. I went into get a cleaning for the first time and they reported multiple cavities and tried to schedule me for fillings. This seemed peculiar to me seeing that I had a cleaning 6 months ago with no reported cavities. So of course I declined coming back and checked another dentist who said everything is fine and they were most likely trying to scam me. Frustrates me that an office would try to sucker someone into getting their mouth all drilled up just to line their greedy pockets. Go somewhere more reliable. read more

Being new to town almost two years ago I trusted my two times a year teeth cleaning to Joelle at Ahwatukee Family Dental by the way who is a dental hygienist who knows her stuff. If you need your teeth cleaned she's the best. I'm a patient that has had four other root canals in my life, none of which were hard to numb [numbed first time/didn't feel the injections(s)], never a broken file, never non-stop talking over my head, no swelling or pain of jaw/cheek, no trouble moving my lower jaw left to right, no bright purple bruise on the inside of my cheek, no pain with light tongue touching the tooth or normal swallowing, and no pressure pain from very light chewing. In the past I experienced nothing but total focus on the root canal procedure and the patient along with a call once home to check on me the next day. I recently had a fifth root canal performed by Dr. Cory Rush. When I had level 10 left jaw pain in the midst of COVID shut down I had an emergency exam with Dr. Cory Rush which turned out to be the wrong choice, but being new who was I trust in the midst of COVID shut down. I saw Dr. Cory Rush on Feb. 19th at which time he assured me things looked fine according to an X-ray of a lower left molar. Due to a government stay-at-home order during COVID I tried managing my pain with ibuprofen. My entire left jaw/cheek/ear area did feel normal so I had to do a second emergency exam on April 20 with Dr. Cory Rush who the x-rayed a different left molar identifying it as a molar that needed a root canal. Isn't it best practice for a dentist to be attentive and x-ray all the bottom left teeth to help identify the tooth with an issue and verify where the pain is coming from? At this time I had paid for two emergency exams and suffered with level 10 and above pain for two months. We were still in government stay put order due to the COVID so I trusted Dr. Cory Rush to complete a root canal on my tooth rather than try to shop around for another dentist to complete my root canal. (I had never had any dental procedures at this dental practice except for 3 routine cleanings.) Boy was trusting Dr. Cory Rush a mistake. He was unable to numb me after many many attempts so I experienced pain during the whole procedure. The entire procedure Dr. Cory Rush was distracted by the non-stop talking between his assistant Maryam about family, brother Kyle's experience with learning to complete a root canal, webinar Dr. Cory had watched that showed him how to numb like they dentists do to remove wisdom teeth, vaccines for his children, and on and on and on. This was unprofessional behavior to say the least. Dr. Cory Rush should have been totally focused on the root canal procedure and the patient. Isn't that what he was getting paid for? Dr. Cory Rush asked that I excuse his fat fingers as he proceeded to clean the canals in my tooth. He used a file between his index finger and thumb to clean the canals in my tooth. Long story short he broke the file off into my tooth at which time he stated that the root canal had gone well except for this one little thing the broken file in my tooth. Dr. Cory Rush motioned with his hands that he guarantees his work, but never explained what that meant. He tried to pass the broken file off as normal and something that happens often. Dr. Cory Rush never showed empathy or concern for me as the patient. He did not refer me out to an Endodontist. By this time (two hours in pain) I was so ready to leave so I could get home and get my tooth/jaw/cheek to calm down. I had continued with pain and no checks or concern from the Ahwatukee Family Dental/Dr. Cory Rush. I researched endodontists and I saw Dr. Kip Sterling who relieved me of pain in under an hour by retreating the root canal Dr. Cory Rush had performed with a lack of confidence, incorrectly, and unprofessionally in a long painful procedure. If you ever need a root canal avoid Dr. Cory Rush who shouldn't be doing root canals and go straight to Dr. Kip Sterling. Dr. Sterling is an expertise and calls to check on you the next day!! 5 stars for Joelle, hygienist, 5 stars for Endodontist Dr. Kip Sterling Zero stars for Dr. Cory Rush. I was referred to this dental office by a coworker and all the great reviews that she gave about this office was "all true!" I was first impressed when I walked into the office on how beautifully it was decorated and secondly by the warm welcome from Brad! The Hygienist which I can't remember her name was great and my teeth felt brand new after her cleaning. I studied mercury toxicity and safe amalgam removal before making my move for 3 months. I have contacted number of AZ based dentist before finding David Rush. He is not listed with iaomt but follows Huggins protocol, unlike Scottsdale based dds (who wanted $450 just for consultation), consultation with dr.Rush was free. All staff is super friendly, the facility is modern and clean and the removal went terrific, pricing was very reasonable too. Highly recommend. read more

I find the poor reviews odd because I had a fantastic first experience. After having a truly awful experience with another Ahwatukee dental office who I feel very much scammed by, with a botched crown to prove it, I found Ahwatukee Family Dental to be a breath of fresh air! The office is beautiful, the exam chairs have TVs above them which makes the whole thing go by faster, the hygienists and front office staff are delightful and Dr. Rush is awesome! I have one filling needed and minimal out of pocket for it (less then a dinner out). They did not make me have that awkward conversation with my previous dental office for records and x-rays but got my insurance to cover another set of x-rays and did a panoramic complementary so they could provide the best treatment for me. Not to mention Dr Rush is fixing my crown at no charge as well. So... needless to say, they are not scam artists in my experience. All I can say is WOW! Dr. David Rush saved me this week from the most painful situation in my life. I had bad dental work performed a week prior to coming to Dr. Rush that has created an abscess deep in a molar. I was not a patient of Dr. Rush's as I was visiting Phoenix from another state, but he agreed to see me for an emergency visit at the end of the day. Dr. Rush took care of me with the most gentle touch I've ever received at a dentist. I felt no pain whatsoever during a very intense situation. He also was very calming and soothing as I was absolutely losing it from the pain I walked into his clinic with. He fixed it all right away and I think this was the best dental care I've ever received. I will be back. It's worth the flight once you've found the right dentist. Dr. Rush has been my family dentist since we moved to Ahwatukee 25 years ago. He has been the single consistent Dr. for my husband and I and our kids through those 25 years, and for good reason. He's compassionate, he truly cares about his patients, he is gentle, and his work is excellent. In addition, while he adds to his staff on occasion he has maintained much of his team from the beginning. This says a lot about a Dr. when his team is happy and looks forward to coming to work each day. You can tell that everyone there is happy to be there and its reflected in their customer service. I found the Rush office through a friend who said that he had been a patient for over twenty years. I visited the office for the first time 2 weeks ago for a routine cleaning. I needed other services but wanted to get a feeling of how I would be treated before I committed to returning. My first impression was that the office staff was friendly, not just to me but they genuinely got along well with each other. The office itself was new and modern. The equipment and technology they used was top notch and Dr. Kyle was patient, gentle and informative. After the visit I'd seen enough to visit them again. I had small chip in my tooth and a cavity that needed filling. I'd spoken to Dr. Kyle about the chip and he assured me that this was something he was especially good at. My second visit was yesterday and as he worked to fix my tooth I was pretty nervous. After he finished, he handed me a mirror and all I could do laugh. I was so tickled at how uniform he made my teeth look! Color, symmetry, and his priority was to make me feel good about it. He kept asking me, "What do you think and how does it feel?" I have been going to this office for over 20 years and never once did I have a bad experience, I have cleanings 3 times a year and they have filled a couple of cavities, did a couple of crowns a bridge and most recently an implant. My wife who is very picky too has been going her for as long as I have. They have a terrific office staff and stay up to date on dental procedures. Dr David Rush recently passed away and his son Kyle who was in the practice has taken over the office.
