I don't usually "gush" about my experiences with health care providers, but Dr. Shiffenhaus and his staff are a cut far above the norm for dental care. My wife and I were seeking a new dentist as we had a negative experience with our prior dentist. SofTouch has a 4.9/5 rating on Google, which is a great indicator, but our prior dentist had a 4.6 rating, so ratings alone don't tell the whole story. That's why I feel SofTouch deserves a full and fair review. My first experience was dealing with a painful tooth that had just been filled by my prior dentist. I was in agonizing pain, and SofTouch provided an outstanding treatment plan which they executed flawlessly. Unfortunately, I ended up needing a root canal and crown, and they made the whole process painless (literally and figuratively). The real test, however, came when my wife needed to have an old filling repaired. She is the classic case of "odontophobia," requiring medication just to walk into a dental office. SofTouch made her feel comfortable enough to have the treatment completed without Nitrous Oxide- a true first for her. Once the procedure was finished, she concurred with my prior assessment that Dr. Shiffenhous and his staff were on par with the best dentist we'd ever visited (high praise when compared to our "ideal" dentist from when we were first married- Dr. Olson). I wanted to share a non-dental related experience that gives a great idea of what kind of people work at SofTouch: After my wife finished her treatment, our car battery was dead. Their front desk manager, Jenny, and the technician, Terah, both came out and offered to help. Jenny brought her car around and let us use her jumper cables. Terah helped connect the cables (my big mitts couldn't get to the negative battery terminal!). Jenny even reached out to her mechanic husband who helped us diagnose the problem, and they were successful in getting the car to start! They didn't have to help, and ended up going WAY beyond the expected! So, to highlight our experiences: They made us feel "at home" (actually like family). They provide superb dental care. They exhibited a level of care and concern far above anything we've experienced in years,. They made my wife's fear melt away. Oh, and they have wonderful people working there. You know how you keep going to a doctor's office *despite* the staff because he's really great at what he does? It's the exact opposite at Softouch. Not to say that the dentists there are poor in any way, but I've seen at least 4 of them come and go in the 5 years I've gone there. I am very happy with the current dentist, Dr. Lopez. The front desk staff are wonderful! Melissa and Crystal are the sweetest ladies. They always remember my name and greet me with a cheerful smile. The hygienists, Coleen and Pam, really know their stuff and take great care of you. They are maternal and caring and don't make you feel like a loser for not flossing. To start off, I am TERRIFIED of dentists and I am so happy I came here. I accidentally stumbled upon Softouch dental while looking for an emergency dentist. Thank god I found them! Their customer service was amazing and they were able to book me an appointment the next afternoon. I was in such excruciating pain that night from an awful toothache, that I showed up the next morning with tears in my eyes and they took me right in! I believe Ginger was the receptionist and she was so sweet and sympathetic, I felt very comforted by the staff because I was in so much pain and they were amazing. All my nerves disappeared. I ended up having to have a root canal at Azrari Endodontics (review to follow because I was blown away by their service as well) Back to Softouch. I've now been there twice for follow up visits and some cavities to be fixed and i've absolutely lost my fear of the dentist. They made me so comfortable with a cozy, plush blanket, personal headphones and a remote to watch anything I wanted on Netflix! So far I've had Dr Bailey and Dr. Rajyaguru and my experiences have been wonderful, I barely felt any pain and even started falling asleep while they were working on my teeth. Their assistants, Miranda and Kailahnie were so kind and gentle that I am actually happy to go back and finally take care of my teeth properly without letting the fear of dental work get in the way! This is the first time I have ever RAVED about a dental office and seriously recommend anyone that needs any type of dental work done, to try them, especially ones with dental phobias. read more

I have been going here for many years. Both Pam and Colleen have always taken very good care of me. The practice recently changed hands and now the dentist is Dr. Schiffenhaus. I hate to have to leave a negative review, but I depend on reviews when I'm looking for a new dr or dentist and I'd want as much info as possible. My husband and I both loved Softouch Dental. The staff was super friendly and helpful, we liked the hygienists and Dr. Bailey was nice and easy to talk to. We went in with no pain, but were both told we had each had several cavities which we had filled. Afterwards, we both started experiencing pain and discomfort in the teeth we had fixed. I went back after one tooth in particular was causing me a lot of pain. She couldn't understand why, but offered to redo the fillings for free which I accepted. After the second fillings the pain ended up getting worse. I went back again when the pain had gotten unbearable and was referred to a specialist to see if I needed a root canal. I was told I did not but the specialist wasn't sure what was wrong either. My husband said several of the fillings he'd had done were more sensitive now too (6 months later) and we both had pain and difficulty when flossing between them. Ultimately I found another dentist for a second opinion. He took one look at the Xrays and could see that the filling was damaged. Even I could see it and I can never interpret those Xrays. You could see 2 clear cracks in the filling. He said I should go back and have her redo them, but after already having had them redone once, I was feeling very confident that I would have a better result and opted to have him do the fillings, even though I had to pay out of pocket for them since my insurance had already paid for Dr. Bailey to do them. The new dentist said after redoing them that there were basically holes or gaps inside the filling and since he did them the pain is gone. Today my husband went to see him and he was informed that a filling that he just had done by Dr. Bailey 6 months ago still has a cavity underneath it that is now nearing the root and again, he has the choice to have her fix it for free (and run the risk of being worse off like I was after) or paying out of pocket to have them done right. We are going to have to pay the money again which is really a bummer. I really like the office and the staff and even Dr. Bailey. They were all really nice and helpful, but when it comes down to it, we have to choose the dentist that is going to do the job right over the friendliness of the office. I was not disappointed with their dentistry services so they get 2 stars instead of 1. I went to my appointment in July and they notified me when I arrived that they don't take my insurance anymore. They explained that I would have to pay for the visit and they would submit the bill to my insurance who would reimburse me. They also said they would cover anything the insurance didn't reimburse to me. I went back to get my $177 and they said they cannot reimburse me and no one should have told me that. Shame on me for believing/trusting what was said. I get that. However, bigger shame on them for not following through on a promise. A truly ethical business would discuss and explain all the possible expenses I might incur to ensure the customer was treated well. Also, they should have called me before the appointment to notify that they don't take my insurance anymore. read more

I would highly recommend! Everyone was very friendly from the moment I stepped in the door. They went above and beyond to fit me in for emergency work the same day since I was going out of town for the holidays. Dr. Schiffenhaus was amazing! I left this dental practice years ago after leaving every exam being told myself or one of my kids needed hundreds of dollars of dental work. Before I did that, however, I used their in-house orthodontist for braces. About 2 years after I got the braces off, I needed a replacement retainer. I went in, they took molds, I got my retainer. No big deal. Recently, I needed to get another replacement retainer. I called and was told they "threw away" my old molds and I would need to come pay for and get new ones. Seemed like they would hang onto that stuff for a certain amount of years, but whatever. Decided to pay cash for the mold and replacement. Went in, got the mold. Dental assistant asked me when I was going to schedule the fillings They told me I needed back in 2019. I explained to her that I had a new dentist and was never told since 2019 that I had cavities that needed to be filled. The next day I received a phone call telling me that since I hadn't had a dental exam or x rays done in their office for 6 years I would now need to get those before they could proceed with my retainer, "by law". Uh, what? The replacement retainer that I'm paying cash for?? i don't get it and it smells like a small struggling office trying to get paid however they can. It was a blatant reminder why I left this place years ago. I plan on filing a complaint with BBB as well. read more

From the receptionist who answered my phone call and managed to schedule me in that very day, to Dr. Schiffenhaus who came to the waiting room to meet and greet parents waiting on their children and greeted my husband and me. Very welcoming. Very inviting office. Very nice and straight forward (what I call honest). I think Dr. Schiffenhaus and his staff truly care for their patients - I know I felt like they cared. I have a seizure disorder brought on by stress, and they allowed my husband to be near me to comfort me so I wouldn't have one. AMAZING!!!!! I highly recommend this office and Dr. Schiffenhaus to anyone who can read this. I will be telling everyone I know how great they are. I was given an estimate that was, quite frankly, below what I thought I would have to pay for this "emergency" procedure and I paid it without blinking an eye. Amazing experience from start to finish! I'm petrified of the dentist and haven't been in to get any work done in years...so I was nervous. Since my last post, I have had a deep cleaning as well as a couple of cavities repaired. Both were during the same sitting. I took my audio book and dr. Bailey was great! When she needed something, because I was trying to tune it all out, she would put her hands in front of me and attempt to mouth/sign what it was she needed me to do. Note: I asked for Nitrous oxide. Highly recommend that! It took the edge off and the shot of novacaine was still painful. Not because of a lack of anything but I am highly sensitive to this stuff. The teeth felt great after the deep cleaning, and the cavity repair has proved to be a good one (it was Nov when this was done). No problems so far. My next appt is scheduled and I'll keep posting updates. read more

I originally did not have a pleasant experience however, thankfully Danielle the manager was wonderful and totally took care of me. After talking with her and her fixingn everything she is the reason that I came back and am giving them a second chance. She really works with you to ensure that you are taken care of and works with payment plans. It is really nice to see the new attitude change since she has been working there. So disappointed! I don't leave negative reviews based on just one experience at a place. However, multiple consecutive bad experiences forces me to speak up. The only reason I actually gave them two stars is because they are very polite. The first time I went in there the person that took my x-rays did such a poor job. I work in radiology so I'm not just criticizing without having any knowledge of this field. On my second visit I was blindsided. I work nights and sometimes it's difficult for me to make appointments in the morning. I felt like I was lured in for a cleaning without any explanation of how much that would cost me at the time of my visit. Over and over I was told my teeth were beautiful and healthy, and despite that I got quoted a large amount of money that I'm supposed to pay on the spot. Fine I understand dental care cost money but an explanation of what I was gonna walk into would have been helpful. Needless to say I was lured in to waste precious sleep time. Oh well, time to find a new dental office. read more

This is absolutely the worst dentist office I have ever been too. The staff is friendly but the work is awful. I have had the same filling worked on multiple times and everytime they made it worse!!!
