Pros -location is safe and conveniently placed -small/quiet facility -updated apartments -layout of apartment is well thought out -staff is nice, especially maintenance staff -maintenance is very quick Cons -expensive (but that's California) -carpet in apartments isn't the greatest, but it's not horrible -You probably won't get your deposit back I don't know why everyone is bagging on Michelle. I treated her with respect and she treated me with respect. If you follow the rules you shouldn't have any issues. Even if the management is not the best it's not like it effects you everyday. Unless you're the type of person that tries talk with them everyday. I probably talked to Michelle 5 times and each were pleasant. She even took the time to go over my deposit in detail with me. I think she just doesn't take other people's disrespect. The only issue I had was my automatic payment didn't work so I was charged a late fee, they did take it off, but did not apologize that it was actually the fault of the automative payment program, but whatever I just learned DON'T TRUST AUTOMATIC PAYMENTS... The things I was worried about the most was the apartment being in a safe location, that it wouldn't feel dirty inside, and my deposit. In the end I didn't get any deposit back. Even though I did deep clean the bathroom and kitchen (I used to own a cleaning business and so I did meticulously clean). I'm not mad about it I just want to let the next person know I recommend not trying to deep clean stuff just do the basics. It's just not worth it to do it yourself, regardless they will probably redo it. Over all GREAT PLACE would live there again! read more

DO NOT MOVE HERE. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place like the plague, Rush River doesn't care about you - you are nothing but $$$ to them. They raised my rent by $165 after 1 year of living there. It's a business, I get it - except they had my same apartment listed at the time for cheaper than I was currently paying. They don't care if you stay there long term, and will take the chance that you won't want to go through the hassle of moving and just eat the cost. I wasn't ever late on my rent one single time. The apartments themselves aren't even that nice to begin with. They are so old and the wiring is so funky that the neighbor upstairs will regularly flip a switch and turn stuff off in my apartment downstairs. Plus, I had to call the apartment complex because there were literal SNAKES that had gotten into my apartment through holes in the wall somewhere. When I contacted Rush River, they told me there was nothing they could do except have the pest control guy make an extra stop at my apartment during his normal route. So yes, I yeeted those snakes out of my apartment all on my own. I had to move out and terminate my lease early due to my grandmother falling in and going into hospice, which cost me 2 months rent to cancel. I was told that they would talk to the owners to see if there was anything they can do about the cost. As you might guess, there is nothing these rich apartment owners can do. If they make exceptions for me, then they have to make exceptions for EVERYONE I was told. Right. $$$$$ It's my own fault for not scheduling an inspection before I moved out, but I genuinely thought the place was in good shape - as did all of my family that helped me move out. I didn't expect to be absolutely screwed with bogus charges that will pretty much eat up all of my security deposit. On top of that, they sent me a $700 bill that they expect me to pay! I thought Rush River seemed trustworthy, but I should have learned my lesson. I would give them 0 stars if I could, don't be like me. Find a smaller complex that isn't so greedy. read more

I've lived at Rush River Apartments for almost a year now and I find it's a very quiet and beautiful place with all the big trees. Management has been incredible. I had an issue with my heater and they took care of the problem immediately. It has really been a pleasure living here. The residence are quiet and it's really fun to see everybody walking their dogs. I am elderly, so it's very important that I feel safe here. Rush River Apt is set in a perfect clean and quiet location in Pocket,CA. Perfectly located next to the food store, brewery, banks and an array of amazing food. The apartments are brand new and very cozy. I had a two bedroom top floor apartment and couldn't get over the views of Redwood Trees out my windows. Highly recommended place if you like a quieter location. Management staff member, Michele, is the exact person you would want to communicate with. Very easy going and kind. read more

Rush River Apartments is great! I lived here for ~ 2 years and it was a very enjoyable experience. Michelle, Sasha, and the rest of the staff are great to work with. A few things that I liked about this apartment complex - Office Staff was very helpful when I was looking for a place to stay while I was still living in a different city. We were able to process all the paperwork online very efficiently - Maintenance Staff is great. They are willing to come to your place at any time, even weekends to get something fixed. The online request system is very nice and they are very responsive - Online Rent / Utilities payment with credit card is very convenient - Very tranquil and quiet environment if you live on one of the inside units. - Walking distance to groceries and restaurants, trails by canal / rivers. The staff are very kind and considerate. I never had any concerns and I always felt heard and respected. I loved that they were pet friendly and it made it a perfect home for my kitty and I. I lived here for almost a year and a half - Dec 15 to May 17'. The location is fantastic: we never had any issues of violence, noise, or traffic. It's right next to the freeway and next to so many grocery stores and places to eat. But the staff really is what made us move out before our lease was up. Michelle, the property manager is horrible. She's very rude and whenever we had an issue she was somehow never in the front office. I would send emails with pictures of things that are wrong and never got replies. Our shower caved in Jan 17 and she told me I had to get it fixed right away. I took the day off work so the maintenance man could come. He said 9am; didn't show until 1. Then she informed me it couldn't be dealt with until Monday. It was a Thursday at the time. She then told me I couldn't shower and asked if I had family that lived close by. After a heated exchange the NEXT day, she finally gave us a key to use in the other apartment to shower. Long story short - we had to find another person to take over our lease until December. We couldn't handle another minute of the management. Shes making this amazing apartment complex horrible. If you can deal with management, this truly is an amazingly safe and fun place to live. I just moved out of the Rush River Apartments after a 10 year tenancy. I was surprised to receive a 60 day notice to quit instead of a lease renewal this year. I was given the option to stay at Rush River but I would have to move into a renovated unit. The only available units were downstairs. I really loved the tall ceilings of my upstairs unit so I decided to look for a new place outside of Rush River. The moving process was delightful. Because I was given a notice to quit due to renovations, I didn't have to clean a single thing in the old unit and I got my ENTIRE security deposit back. Also, I had the flexibility to move out anytime during that 60 days which made finding a new place easier. Complex Assessment: I lived in an upstairs unit right across from Bel Air, so parking was never a problem. My visitors were able to park on the street. It was very convenient to go to the shopping center and get groceries and/or takeout and run errands to the optometrist/dentist/pharmacy. The apartment complex was quiet overall. I had a few loud neighbors and issue resulting from that. Eventually those issues were resolved. The location is walking distance to parks and the river. There's a great bike trail about 2 blocks away. Nice neighborhood feel to the area. Apartment Assessment: Everything worked. When it didn't, maintenance would fix it relatively timely. There were several long fixes and one big mess resulting from poor fixes. Eventually the issues were resolved. Maintenance was always nice; they petted my cat and left notes indicating what work was done. I especially enjoyed that maintenance would replace my air filter every month at my request. I also enjoyed that the front office would place my packages inside the apartment if I asked them to. I agree with the other reviews that mention the very loud bathroom fan. It's SO LOUD! In my non-renovated unit I had a chain to pull to turn it off, but the new units don't have that option. The fan runs when the lights are on. Not a deal breaker. The 1/1 unit feels large for 750 sq. There were big closets and lots of outdoor patio storage. The water pressure here is AMAZING. I was able to buy a dual shower head and take luxurious showers. Rising Rent: When I moved in in 2008 my rent was $750 for a 1/1 750 sf unit. When I moved out 10 years later the rent was $1150 for my non-renovated unit. Rent for that unit is set to increase to $1350 after the renovation is complete. This is unfortunately standard pricing for the area. Management: I enjoyed working with Michelle and the other office staff, they were always professional and courteous to me. I HATE the new management company with the fire of a thousand suns. They do not care about tenants, they only care about money. The Rush River office staff does all they can to provide excellent service despite the limitations set in place by First Pointe Management. Overall this is a good place to live and I'd definitely recommend it if you are seeking a place in the Pocket area. The inaccurate comments from Rush River (below) are in response to a big issue that I had in 2014. This issue was resolved by Michelle. No easy feat; this was a BIG issue that was initially made worse by the terrible response below. read more

Renter beware. I rented here for a year, loved the community upon sight, loved it for the majority of my tenancy, however that's where the honeymoon ended. A bathroom door came off the hinges and took SEVERAL work orders and MONTHS to be fixed... meanwhile the property management office kept telling me it may not be able to be fixed... really?? It isn't rocket science people. Then came the sagging balcony repair that was attributed to water logging within the walls... to which I was informed my unit "may not be structurally sound." Um, excuse me... what the ?$&%* Oh, and they had no idea how long the repair was to take, but could I please move everything inside, and that the workers would be moving throughout my unit, or, alternatively, I could leave my furniture where it is and allow the workers to move it - provided I sign a waiver of liability. Right here is a great place to let you know I have a WHITE sofa that I covet... Anyway... so proceed with construction, all the while I receive no communication in regard to a) whether my unit is or is not structurally sound; b) whether any mold testing has been done since water retention caused the balcony to sag; and c) there was no discussion of rent compensation per the law.... of course, until I demanded such compensation in written letter form. Fast forward 2 months, I fulfill the terms of my lease and give 40 days notice (30 was required), pay the pro-rated rent amount per the property management office, request a walk-through inspection for which I request to be present, and begin to move out. On move out day, they still have not contacted me to conduct the walk through, but I have to be out regardless, so I pack up, clean like a @#$@)%*er, and move my biz. To date they have withheld over 50% of my deposit illegally. Renter beware, they will scam you. I have *NEVER* had any portion of my deposit withheld, and have never received such condescension from a property manager such as I did with Michelle at Rush River. Do yourself a favor and take your business elsewhere. read more

I recently moved out of Rush River Apartments. I lived there for 2 to 3 months short of 5 years and I really liked the area a lot. So many places close by, CVS, Papa Murphy's, Golden One, Thai restaurant just to name a few. I was never a Bel Air shopper, but I've come to love that store being so close to it. This place has lot of great things about it over all. The maintenance staff is awesome. They are very kind and professional. Well kept grounds and nice and peaceful area over all. When I first moved in here I really liked it a lot. It became a lil much with the office always wanting to do inspections, like every six months and I didn't understand why after all I was a new tenant in the apartment. So we move past all the inspections and I watched all the people that were there when I moved in all leave and a couple more come and go. I think that I was a good tenant over all. The only time I called the office or/ went to the office was regarding apartment business. I never had any issues outside of that. When I moved there, it was a young guy (can't remember his name) that was in the office at the time I was shown the place. He was really nice and electrifying. If you've ever met someone like that. On to Michelle the apartment manager. Michelle is to me on the racist side, (forgive me) but I gotta keep it 100. She comes off really nice when she wants too, but after almost five years I started to see her for who she really was. She has spoken to me about other tenants,which I found too be unprofessional! There has been times I see her outside the office with ANOTHER tenant and she wouldn't even speak. You never knew what you're were going to get when you dealt with her. Some of the other tenants I knew and spoke with said the same things about her. Once she had the nerve to serve me a 3 day notice because I had a downstairs neighbor, who was clearly disturbed to say the least. They had Major issues with her themselves in the office /per Michelle and my conversations. She (downstairs) complained constantly about noise from me upstairs at times when I was napping or reading to my grand baby. She would bang on the ceiling all the time, broke her porch light/slamming her door. Something was seriously wrong with her, but I get a notice. Okay! Then once my refrigerator went out over the weekend just went shopping and they wanted me to take my food too the model and put it in the refrigerator there and when I refused they sent a repair guy that said 'nothing was wrong with it', but it wasn't getting cold. I was sure that's what it's suppose to do. So now after moving, not that I wanted too, but because they were raising the rent $126 more/$1,163 a month. Only problem is I've owned 2 homes and I know that a 25 year old apartment was not worth what they wanted to charged. I never paid that much in my mortgage payments. Now the last STRAW!! You have the nerve to take my DEPOSIT!! And with all these trump up charges at that. While doing the walk thru, she was talking about windows not clean and drawers with crumbs!! I was DONE then, because I saw where she was going. Honestly the apartment looked like someone could have moved right in there when we were finished. When I know one of my neighbors that moved out, had a cat and got their deposit in 2 weeks. He told me that his cat pee in the toilet. Okay! And the new neighbors moves in and complains to the office of a bad smell in the apartment so they had their carpet cleaned again and were told by the carpet guy that the smell was cat pee. Lol, go figure! I would like to know how you cut corners in that apartment after tenants move after only two years, but you literally looked for reasons to take my deposit after 5 years. I can honestly say, I have NEVER NOT GOTTEN BACK A DEPOSIT ON AN APARTMENT BEFORE!! NEVER!! Not going to Happen! Sorry, I got pictures too! Lets do it....I say to all them 5 stars. Trisha the assistant manger is awesome, I wish she could be in charge because she does bend over backwards for her tenants. I would love to talk to the management company so she can be replaced. I lived at Rush River when I moved out to Sac and it truly set the bar high as far as comfortable living goes. Throughout my 3 year tenancy, I came across a few issues and each and every one were handled accordingly. I miss living there because moving out made me realize how taken care of I was and how tranquil the location is. I moved out because I thought it was time to invest my rent money into a mortgage. The front office staff are considerate and helpful when it comes to any issues you may face. Michelle had been there since the day I moved in and not only did she ensure that my stay there was welcoming, but even my departure was a smooth and peaceful transition. Monte & Omar run maintenance and are refreshingly approachable, for both maintenance needs or just to say hello. The only complaints I know of are nothing out of the ordinary. read more

Stay far far far away from Michelle " The manager" . I should have read the reviews before I decided to move there! She's a very nasty woman. She's the only issue at Rush river ( doesn't seem like you guys care because after so many bad reviews, she's still there). Apartment is beautiful, maintenance personnel was very nice and would wave in crossing. Great neighbors, never had any issues with anyone but Michelle!!!!! She's not very nice to military personnel (myself) , she stormed out of my "move out inspection " . So unprofessional !!!!! She's taking pictures of everything but not pointing out any problems because the two maintenance ppl that came with her said things were checking out but still didn't get the inspection complete because she can't handle the pressure of people asking her questions. So now I have a good feeling she's going to TRY and take my whole deposit. But I have my pictures videos and a signed letter. Just in case ... stay away from her . read more

I've been living in Rush River Apartments for a couple of months now. Michelle made my move in super easy and not stressful at all ! She responded very quickly anytime I had an issue or any questions. Maintenance is awesome as well! Any problem I had they were there with an hour to fix it. I love my apartment , everything is updated and a lot of cabinet and closet space. Being located on a street with high traffic I was very nervous about noise. But it has not been a problem at all. I love being able to walk right across the street to bel-air if I need something quick. I would definitely recommend this apartment community to anyone looking at them ! read more

We absolutely loved living at Rush River Apartments!!! The apartment was great, the residents were quiet and wonderful and the management was incredible! For the couple of times we needed maintenance done it was done quickly and efficiently. The only reason why we left was because we needed more space. We lived very close the pool area and even in the summer there was never any issues of noise. It was always very peaceful and pleasant which I absolutely loved. The apartment itself was nice we have the 1 bedroom and 1 den and we loved it. It's a great place to live you won't be disappointed!! read more

We moved to these apartments a little before my son was born and have loved living here for the past 3 years. The apartments are quiet, clean and conveniently located across the street from Bel-Air and CVS. The staff here are wonderful, especially Michelle and Bill. We have found a home and are saddened to be leaving Rush River. This is the home my son grew up in and the only home he knows. If your looking for a nice quiet apartment to live in, this place is it. This is an honest review of one of the best place I have ever lived (here!)! I moved to the complex with a friend 6 years ago from Davis, and it was one of the best moves for me! This complex is quiet, safe, and in a perfect spot! The managment has Never left us waiting when we called for anything! They are Promt! The front office management all the way to the maintenance will make you feel welcomed and take care of your needs! In 6 years I have Never had any problems with the neighbors or anybody here! Like I said, it is very quiet and a great community! They even do little get togethers at the pool area sometimes for the people who live here! I am very sad to leave in fact! I am moving on to a house, but would definitely recommend this place to anyone! These apartments are perfect for couples to families! I will miss this place dearly, and i can even speak for my friend who lives here! He would totally agee! I think VERY highly about Michelle and the people that work here! we really liked rush river when we first moved in, the complex seemed quiet, clean and safe. the apartments are pretty standard but decent. it's been about a year and a half and im just not into it anymore. like one of the previous reviewers said, one of my bathroom doors came off too, when we called we were told that some are just like that and basically to deal with it. so now, we can't shut off the toilet part of our oddly laid out bathroom. i think the biggest annoyance has been the kitchen. it's ridiculously small. i can have my arms by my side, reach out and comfortably touch counter top to counter top. if you're someone who likes to spend time in the kitchen, look elsewhere because this is a PAIN to try and function in. something else that's really bothered me is, over about the last six months, how many times i've gotten a flyer on my door stating they need to enter my apartment for some reason. fireplace inspection.....and their "annual" inspection to "check appliances, countertops, fixtures, plumbing, tub/shower and water heater"........it seems to me that these are all things that, if broken, all tenants would notify them of. also, this is not annual because they didn't do it last year. i've just never had that happen in any other complex i've lived in and it didn't make sense to me. most recently, i've noticed a lot of homeless activity, which i know is not the complexes fault, but i've grown nervous to walk out to my car at night because there's bums going through the dumpsters. it is right across the street from belair, cvs, tuesday morning, el faro mexican food, and a delicious sushi restaurant so it is convenient. all in all, it's still pretty safe. but the price seems pretty steep for what you get. read more

I'm going to make this a brief review, I'm not going to 'sugarcoat' this review, rather make it concise and blunt. It's black and white, as many of the other tenants have already written about the topics I'll mention below. Pros: Acceptable apartment standards, as well (in regards to a few months living at Rush River) a safe atmosphere, tenants are warm and caring for one another. A small, although relaxing Jacuzzi with a private bathroom/shower for male and female tenants. Rush River Apartments also provides a fairly small gym, if you're someone who just uses the treadmill. . surely, this will be acceptable enough for you. The gym also has cable, which is quite nice if you would like to catch up on the latest shows. . or rather, Keep up with the Kardashians. lol. Cat friendly, although not free. . An additional $50, since I haven't faced this before. . I'm not sure whether to say that's overpriced or not. Just a short walk away from Bel-Air, Golden1, CVS, a sushi restaurant, thai cuisine, as well Chinese food from Regent. The Chinese food is nothing special, as well after 8:30 PM, any dine in purchases are 20% off which is quite nice. The Thai cuisine next to Regent is delicious, despite the fact that I'm moving out of the area. . I'll be back for my Pad thai, Tom Yum, etc. Cons: The pool is constantly dirty, I'm unable to even step inside of it. Rather, I couldn't even see what I would be stepping on. There's an issue with the bathroom fan, it's louder than a siren for a few minutes and then resumes to normal. Although, believe me, I couldn't imagine having to deal with it more than a few months. We've called to had it fixed, but there wasn't a follow up and the end result? Nothing has changed, unfortunately. Parking can be a hassle, as well if you have any visitors, they'll likely call you on your cell and mention parking "sucks" In short, is there room for improvement? Yes, there's quite a lot of room for that. Is Rush River Apartments not a suitable apartment to live in? No, it's quite acceptable. read more

Good place to live overall. I am a UCD grad student who lived there for two years (Aug 2011 till Sept 2013) and the only reason I moved was that the 40 mile round-trip commute from the Pocket to Davis was becoming impractical the more I began to work on campus. Rush River gives you a lot of bang for the buck in terms of space, has very timely and helpful Maintainance service, and a manager (Michelle S.) who couldn't be more friendly. Occasional problem neighbor but that can happen anywhere thanks to housing discrimination laws which make it very hard to evict those kinds of people...that's not Rush River's fault. read more

I have been a resident at rush river for about a month & a half now, I do love the area it is very quiet here and clean. a couple cons I had when I first moved in was the kitchen sink leaked & I reported it the 2nd day i moved in.. it took about 3 or 4 visits before the problem was fixed " so like 2 weeks" .. then under the sink there was the water smell cause the wood got wet.. :( about 3 times the washing machine & dryer has shook rapidly and actually moved & I had to wait till my husband came home to put it back in its spot so I could close off the door. if u want to get your mail you either have to park on the other side of the office, a ways away by the pool, or just walk from your apartment.. which isnt bad but! I have a 17 mo. old daughter that wants to run away once I take her out of her carseat ... it would be nice to have a designated parking place where u could jump out for 2 secconds to grab your mail. the office staff are a pleasure to talk with very nice people and call u back immediately when u tell them u have a problem. I have 2ce stepped out my door and smelt someone smoking weed, not plesnt.. its not the apartments fault though.. they do go through the apartment inspection with u but its extreamly quick, I guess they should just have better inspections before someone moves into their apartments.. read more

I recently visited the Rush River apartments and I was helped by Christina who did an excellent job helping me through the process. I had seen 5 other apartment places in the area but I could not decide. When Christina showed me the unit I was convinced that this was the place I wanted to live. my husband & i were looking for an apartment that accepted short term leases. i researched apartments & found this one. i read the reviews & was sold. when we did the walk through, the front desk staff was really nice. didn't open or do any detail inside the cabinets & we trusted them. we were told we would only be responsible for the smud, water & rent. We moved in for the 3 months & totally regretted it. our first night the heat did not work, the heater made a very loud noise & it sounded as if it was going to go out. we called maintenance at 11:30pm on the 1st night & he came in & gave us a couple of heaters. the next morning, we had NO electricity, this should have been a sign for rest of the next 3 months, the maintaince guy came back & oiled it and reset the circuit box second call within 24 hours of us moving in. we called maintenance about a half a dozen times but nothing ever happened. we just quit calling about the heater noise & said to ourselves, if it breaks we did our due diligence. I inquired about a possible reduction for the following month. They told me that if that happened it would only be for a day. You guessed it, we didn't even get that. When we first got our utility bill, it had water, sewer & garbage. we were paying it all. I think all the apartment was paying is for maintenance & lawn service. They lied AGAIN. when we moved out, we cleaned the apartment really well on Sunday. the walkthru was done the next day, we got dinged because there was dust "inside" a cabinet & the outside of the microwave was dirty. They claimed they had to reclean it at a cost of $25 an hour. REALLY? out of our $200 deposit, we got back $87. We were out on feb 16. They had plenty of time to get another tenant by march 1. This review is to help anyone from making the same mistake I did & save them the money & aggrevation we encountered by pay a lot of money on an apartment that wasn't worth it and dealing with front desk staff who don't care like Melissa & Michelle. I would not recommend this place to my worst enemy. Avoid this place. there are a lot more apartments out there that are not overpriced & the staff is more customer service oriented. read more
