There is nothing worse than car shopping, but I had to go with my husband in case he bought the vehicle and I needed to drive our vehicle home. At first it was fine, salesman's was friendly showed us the truck and we went for a test drive. It's all fine until it comes time to talk about price. Let's be real, no one goes in and pays the asking price, we had cash and knew what we were willing to pay and made a fair offer. Of course the salesman has to go pretend to talk to the GM and then comes back with a counter. We were within $200 and didn't need to buy anything so we were fine walking out, the salesman said "so you are going to walk out over $200?" My question was, are you going to let us walk out over $200? We were finally able to agree to the price we wanted after we waved the 3 free oil changes that we would never have driven back to Neenah for. Here's where it gets fun, when we were going to do the paperwork out salesman said he was going to take the vehicle and fill it with gas, it was on empty and he would be back by the time we finished the paperwork. He said normally they would also put it through the car was but since the truck was so clean because of how much time they had spent detailing the vehicle, he wasn't going to wash it, okay that's fine. When we finished the paperwork the salesman told us he wasn't able to put gas in the vehicle because of how much they took off the price, this was done purely out of spite. The GM or whomever made that decision is a weasel, you don't let a customer leave with a vehicle in empty. Douche move on their part. Now let's talk about this incredibly clean vehicle they spent so much time detailing, when we got home and looked at it, it was dirty, if this is what you consider a clean vehicle that was detailed well, fire your detailer. I spent almost two hours at this dealership, only for them to refuse my Navy Federal preapproved auto loan draft. The validation process takes less than five minutes, but they told me it was "too much work" for them to get paid.What makes it even worse is how dismissive they were toward a military family using a military credit union. Navy Federal exists to support service members and their families, and it's sad that this dealership couldn't be bothered to help a ready‑to‑buy customer after keeping me there for nearly two hours.This wasn't a bank issue -- it was the dealership choosing not to help because they wouldn't profit off the financing. Battery issues since the day I bought the car. I reported it a week after purchase and have repeatedly called since. They refuse to take it seriously or properly inspect it. Went here too look at a car for my girlfriend, we came back a few days later to talk numbers and they tried running our credit without telling us. The manager then came over and said they work with our credit union but they wouldn't let us go to them for financing. They tried to get us to go through them and then showed us numbers that were 14-15% interest rates when the credit unions rates were 5-6%. When we were negotiating the price we got called aggressive. We later called the credit union and they said that the dealership was supposed to allow us to bring them there financing and that they were likely trying to make more money off of us by marking up warrenty and interest rates. Went in the other day for a specific car, sticker physically in the window of the car while we were there and online was $24,664. Told the salesman that we were interested and would discuss it on the way back home. Started working a deal right away as soon as I got home less than 2 hours later by texting the salesman and the price magically jumped to $26,411. Absolute scam dealer. All the salesman kept saying was that market prices change, that their car was the best, and asked how we could move forward with the sale. The car had an accident on carfax, a windshield that needed replacing, and a scuffed up rear bumper. Mind you, this thing is ONE year old. Long story short, found the same vehicle (Year, Make, Model and Trim) just 100 miles away from them and went the next day and purchased it. Clean carfax, 11,000 LESS miles, no problems to the body, and a perfect windshield. OH, and the 2nd dealer gave me the discount I requested, AND gave me top dollar for my trade too. Russ Darrow wouldn't even give me $100 off the price......Shop elsewhere folks. This place is the equivalent to a slumlord for those of you who rent. I went in to trade in my car for a newer car. To told the salesman what bank I was preapproved through and he said that they "work with them all the time". When we were about to submit my credit check I was told they don't work with my bank and I would have to use one of the banks they are partnered with. They we're also giving me WAY less than what I sold it for independently. They quoted me $2,000 for a trade in and I sold it for $6,000. read more

Went to look at a vehicle and stated our budget. Vehicle was not in the same condition as advertised (very obvious rust problem). When we mentioned it, our sales rep blew it off as "just a little surface rust" (it was more than just a little surface rust). We then moved on to a different car, which we liked. They then proceeded to bombard the banks with credit requests (over 13 to date), and eventually we had to let that one go due to our financial circumstances (the car was over the amount of money we could get approved without a down payment). The next day, we were contacted with a vehicle that we had been approved for ahead of time. The payments were DOUBLE our limit, which we had told the sales rep several times. When I stated that I was NOT interested in the vehicle, they proceeded to run our credit AGAIN for the SAME VEHICLE. We got a notice the next day and looked at our credit score- it had plummeted due to the sheer number of requests. Now we're stuck either waiting for our credit to go back up and driving a less-than-desirable vehicle, or buying something else from somewhere else and hoping they will give us a decent loan after Russ Darrow played hell with our credit scores. Will never go back- I strongly recommend avoiding this place. read more

Stopped in with a check engine light for low oil pressure, told them to replace the oil pump and was quoted $2300 in labor (covered by warranty) then charged $100 for diagnostic's to confirm oil pump is bad (this should be common sense not a $100 charge). Job called for 14 hours of labor and they had my truck for 3 business days, picked it up and my CV axle fell off my front differential. They hadn't bolted it in all the way and only had 2/6 bolts holding my axle in. I fixed it and called about getting my $100 charge refunded since I had to partially reassemble my vehicle myself and it's day number 3 of "waiting to hear back". read more

I don't even know where to begin. To sum things up, customer service is abysmal. With every interaction I hope for a better experience only to be met with even greater disappointment. From the salesmen who tried for an hour to sell me vehicles I expressly stated I was not interested in (after I made an appointment to see a vehicle I was interested in) to being flat out lied to over the phone about employee mask wearing, I cannot wait to finish with my free oil change services and never return. I was preapproved for 14000 for a car found a 2017 kia for 17000 told them I wanted to run it through capital credit union first. dealer went into the office for about 15 minutes came out and told me capital denied me but they have companies bidding on my loan. wound up with wells Fargo at 10% interest. then the credit person brought me in his office and kept pressuring me to come up with 400 I kept telling him I dont have it he kept pressuring me until I blew up. I contacted capital and they said they were never contacted on the vehicle. they got vehicle information from me and said I was approved at 4.24%. I did refinance with capital and it was with wells Fargo for a week. I am glad I checked with capital. Wish giving zero stars was an option. I went with my sister to help her buy a different truck, and let me say, unfortunately Russ Darrow Direct was the only place that had exactly what we were looking for. Since other sales people were busy we got stuck with Mark. That's when the worst car buying experience of my life started, and I wasn't even the one purchasing. I'm glad I went with my sister, I felt like she was getting the run around from Mark the entire time, he started with telling her that they might not be able to take her trade in, he didn't know much about the truck, and he acted as if my sister and I knew nothing about vehicles, he also kept calling my young sister 'honey' which in itself didn't sit well with me. When it came time to talk numbers he spent over an hour not giving us an answer. Once he finally gave us a trade in price the numbers on the paper were different than what he was telling us, so once again we had to spend more time waiting for the numbers to be correct. Anyway, outside financing was approved and my sister goes to pick up the truck the next day, and they forgot to collect her down payment, how does their financing guy forget to collect thousands of dollars???? So my sister was forced to go back the next day to give them that, she lives 45 minutes away. After she arrives there she is greeted by Mark, oh joy, and he asks what is wrong with her tail pipe. She had the truck less than 24 hours and the tail pipe had fallen down, and was about to fall off. They couldn't fix it that day, so my sister once again had to come back after the weekend. She had a limited amount of time on that day and they didn't even have the parts ordered to get it fixed. They were late getting it fixed, the only saving grace is that the tech was very friendly. After it was fixed Mark shows up again to ask "are you happy now?" in a very condescending tone as if my sister had no right to be upset that a 30k truck broke less than 24 hours after having it. Was shopping around for a second car and not finding anything that fit our mid-range budget. Stopped here and they had a half dozen cars that fit what we were looking for. Mark Huth was our sales guy and did a good job of showing us some cars without being pushy. We found a car that worked for us and decided to purchase it. We got a loan from our local CU and went in to pickup car. Then we got to spend an hour of hell with their finance manager Guy James informing us we got the loan from the wrong place and using every scare tactic under the sun to get us to buy upgrade protection packages. DO NOT GO TO RUSS DARROW DIRECT OF APPLETON. People are shady, I was belittled, hung up on and scammed. I talked with my sales rep, and he AND ANOTHER rep told me that the finance department was being shady and the way they are treating me was flat out wrong. The night I bought the car, I looked back at the contract and found that the way it was presented to me did not explain that the warranties/add ons were additional costs to the loan. This was the part that Heather rushed through at during the contract review due to the time. I was in the dealership until approximately 9:30pm and the GM came to Heathers door motioning for us to finish up so they could leave. The add on items were presented as this is what you all have and then sped through the other paperwork asking me to go ahead and sign what we already discussed. When I got home I called my sales rep Cal that night to let him know that things didn't look right and he suggested to call back in the morning to speak with finance. I called back first thing in the morning on October 18th and spoke with Heather. She said she was not in the office that day so she directed me to speak with Guy in her absence. When I talked with Guy I explained what concerns I had and that I would like the warranty and the Simoniz glass coating to be taken off. He told me that I am not allowed to "return" the simonize glass coating, even though it has yet to be applied to the vehicle. He said that I can go online and cancel the warranties, but was not given any additional information in regards to what that return would look like, the time frame or how that would affect my loan. I then asked to speak with the GM and Guy told me no, that he wasn't going to say anything different or wouldn't listen to me. Later that day I called back and left a voicemail for Michael (GM). Michael returned my call with Guy in the room and I was told that "I just don't understand what I am looking at". They were not willing to have any additional conversation at this time about it. Thursday night I went into the dealership with my friend Tanya to talk in person about what I can do about the cancelation and better understand what that process was. No one was available at the time including the GM to have this conversation. I came back on Friday and talked with both Heather and Guy again as they said that Michael was not available to talk through this. I explained my side of the situation and how these additional charges were not presented to me both in regards to additional cost and if they were optional or not. Heather and Guy were both very disrespectful and abrasive towards me throughout the conversation raising their voice and belittling me with their side bar comments. Neither Guy nor Heather were willing to listen to what I had to say or even what my possible solution would be. At one point Guy physically walked out of the room yelling at me and saying "I don't have time for this". I had asked to see if we could have a conversation with the bank (LandMark Credit Union) to see where the loan stood and if we could re-write it prior to processing. (I called LandMark prior to coming into the dealership and they said they had no record of the loan at that time). Both Guy and Heather refused to call Landmark while I was there. Guy then left the room and came back with a list of other customers, their loan status and amount that they have processed within the last several months showing everyone's names, loan amounts and personal information. Therefore myself and Tanya called the credit union while in the office and at this time the credit union suggested to flag my "account" and not process until further documentation/information is provided. After communicating this to Heather she said that there is nothing else to do today so we left the dealership. ​On Monday October 22nd, I called LandMark again and they told me they were still waiting on additional documentation in order to process the loan. I called Heather to find out what the next steps would be. She said she had not heard from the bank yet and she was going to reach out to Guy and the bank to see if anything had come through. She stated that she would attempt to get back to me that night otherwise she will be in at 9am and will reach back out. I did not receive any contact back from anyone at the dealership. On Tuesday October 23rd, I called back to touch base again and see what the text steps would be. Heather was not in the office, but I did speak with Guy. I was barely able to speak as Guy was again yelling and ridiculing me throughout the conversation; not willing to have a conversation at all.He said he will deal with that when or if it comes to that end of discussion. So this is how Russ Darrow works. The salesman has you circle a payment plan. You choose it. However, this is not your payment. No, then someone else takes you and then adds on service fee and a maintenance contract that he doesn't tell you about. Before he gives you the monthly amount, he breaks it into biweekly payments. Then it doesn't sound so bad and your head is swimming with numbers. He also gives you the biweekly amount so that he doesn't give you the price of the warranty. Very Shady! Bought my new Kia Sorento from here a few years ago... everything was fine until I needed new tires. I bought new tires from Russ Darrow, a few months later brought my car back in and they told me they needed to be replaced again. They were still under warranty and they told me I was likely to get back 75% of my purchase price for the tires back from Goodyear after they processed the return. Russ Darrow removed the tires and said they would submit them for premature wear. I bought all new tires AGAIN from Russ Darrow under the impression that I would be getting money back eventually from Goodyear. It has been over 6 months, both the service manager and his boss have stopped returning phone calls. I would NEVER have bought the other new tires from them if I had known how poorly they stand behind the products they sell!! This was my second vehicle purchase from this building and I will never be back again. (On another side note, the interior upholstery protection they try to sell to you when you buy a new car is also terrible and not worth $10 let alone $1000) read more

Bad News!!!! We purchased our car from here about a year ago. We have had nothing but trouble. The salesman, Guy, lied to us about what our warranty covered. So that was the first surprise. However, what it would cover was the engine. We need about 5000 dollars worth of engine work done on our car. Even though they have notes on file of the same complaints months after we purchased it, they brushed us off and said we needed an alignment. We brought it in again a second time for the same reasons and and we were brushed off again saying we needed new tires. (Which was also on them for not replacing the tires before they sold it. My mistake for not seeing that before we drove it off the lot) It wasn't until the third visit when our warranty conveniently expired that they said we needed engine work. We asked them to make it right and get our repairs covered because it was right there in their notes but they have refused to help. Do NOT go to Russ Darrow for a car! the only reason this is getting one star is to post this review. russ darrow direct sucks. i WILL never go to them again. last week i had over 2500 dollars worth of work done on my car. the two main problems were the exhaust being loud and a brake issue. got back from vacation yesterday and went to go to the store and the exhaust is still noisy but not as loud and not fixed right cuz i shouldnt hear it at all. than im coming back from store and the brake issue i was having im still having except now its even worse cuz its a sticky caliper. i told john about both problems before i got the quote. didnt realize til now he never put the caliper in the quote. even if this is the last body shop on the face of the planet and even if there was no other mechanics, i still wouldnt take it to them. read more

I bought a 2010 Chevy equinox with 61,000 miles on it from Russ Darrow Direct in March 4. While I was test driving it I noticed it felt weird when it shifted gears and acceleration seemed off, but having had only one car before I trusted the sales rep when he told me it was because the eco button was on and to just keep it on to save gas mileage. Fast forward to May 17th I'm driving down HWY 41 and my engine light comes on, it's a weekend night after work so my daughter is at home with my husband (we work different schedules). And I'm doing 75 and all of a sudden my speed drops down to 25 and the car will not accelerate. So I go to turn the caution lights on SINCE IM BROKE DOWN IN THE MIDDLE LANE OF 41. And they won't come on. I have to push the button 7 times before my caution lights finally come on. It took me 15 min just to get my car out of the middle of the hwy. RUSS DARROW SOLD ME A DEATH TRAP AS A FAMILY CAR. I even told them I needed a safer car for myself and my daughter since we commute together 30 min to get her to school and myself to work.
