Russell's True Value hardware store is the kind of place one can hardly find anymore, a true hometown, well equipped, well staffed, friendly hardware store. The employees go out of their way to help, and they do it with a smile. I've come in several times over the last couple months and every time I find what I need, there is always someone available if I need it, and the prices are reasonable. This particular store also has home decorating and appliance items as well as all kinds of tools, hardware, home repair and maintenance items, i'll kinds of special tools and equipment you can rent, yard and garden supplies. Yes, you can find all these at Home Depot, but coming here is almost like going to a friend's house. As long as Russell's is here I'll always check here first before heading anywhere else. read more

A few days of rain can turn a deathly barren yard into a darn jungle in Texas. Just knowing the tigers were lurking in my dad's wild yard was driving me crazy, and I could hear the grass and weeds encroaching their way up to the doors and windows of the house! I reserved a lawn mower by placing a call to True Value and had no problems with the process. Andy was helpful and answered the few questions I had. Friendly, helpful people is the norm from the moment I walked into True Value. A four hour rental for the mower was around $35.00, return rinsed off, and with a tank of gas. My dad is retired and has the ability to spend time doing fun things, not yard work. If you're needing to rent equipment, do it here. I have been a long time loyal customer of Del Rio's True Value. Today blew me away and I will NEVER step foot into that business again. My family and I went to the store with the intent to purchase a key which ended up costing about $160, we chose to support our local True Value because it's a place my children love to visit with their children's items and a place where we can get home needs completed also. As I walked into the section with woman's clothing with my two children one employee said a welcoming "hello" and her counterpart looked at me with her steaming iron in her hand, obviously way too busy to say hello back, although she made direct eye contact but decided to just look away without a word. Whatever, who cares. So I continue to do my shopping and my toddler goes to the hula hoops, which to me are INTENDED for children and starts to play with one. I smile at him and look to the woman who was too busy to say hi, but now has the time to stare at my child with a disgusted look on her face. She looks at me and says in a scolding and demeaning tone "he really shouldn't do that, it has lights in the hula hoop". I said back that I had the intention to purchase the $15 hula hoop and now because of her lack of customer service, or being a decent human being in general and talking to me like a fellow adult I wasn't going to now. I got my $160 dollars back from my previous purchase and put away another $80 worth of items I was going to buy. I have never had an employee be so rude to me, let alone my child, and I will never support this store again. It makes me sad because the customer service in every other department are remarkable and make you feel so welcome, I guess in the woman's department and children's department I wasn't good enough to acknowledge, and if your child touches anything then you'll be reprimanded for it. Also, I implore you to think of the purpose and the use of a hula hoop. This CHILDRENS item is intended to spin around your body and fall to the floor. I would think if you're going to overspend on items such as this, the customer service would be a lot better. I'll purchase elsewhere. read more

Really awesome shop! Its like walking into a FReD MEYER store up North, with lots of options. Whats' even better is the dead animals all over the place. I'm not kidding, theres' bison, moose, jaguar and elk! Its really cool to see some of these beasts up close. read more

Without a doubt, Russell's has the best service in town. I am always greeted upon entering the store and rarely make it very far without someone asking if they can assist me. As a female, I particularly appreciate their professional and non-condescending approach when I ask questions. This is not the case in other hardware stores in Del Rio. I often find things at Russell's that I can't find anywhere else in town. I highly recommend them. read more

This store has very poor customer service. Unfriendly staff at the home products/ purses, etc. I wanted to return or exchange a product and I was given a hard time. I will not return. P.S.: Do not buy the Magnolia Home candles. There is no scent to them and they are $30 for a small 11 oz. size. read more

We've done business with them for years, we are now on our 3rd generation of Russell True Value shoppers:) You can almost always find what you are looking for. And you will certainly find more knowledgeable friendly people to help than anywhere else you could ever go!!!! We are blessed to have this family owned and operated business in our community!!!! The Davenport family does a great job staffing the store with amazing people and stocking it with cool stuff, as well as all the everyday items that you need for your home, garden, hunting, fishing etc.... the list goes on and on!!!! read more
