Emergency replacement furnace and hot water htr. A relative examined the work the following day. This person is a professional in the HVAC business in another state. After opening the unit, he immediately called me downstairs. The emergency water alarm wires were dangling and NOT connected. They replaced my thermostat with substandard wiring, and an OLD model of my current thermostat. Dangerous shards of metal all over my basement floor from cutting to fit. I did not bother to even report this to them since it had been fixed by my relative who re-upgraded my wiring and thermostat.. I was absolutely shocked at the Russo company. Never again. read more

The work was ultimately completed, but the overall experience was frustrating. The technicians could have been more careful and cleaner while working in our home. More importantly, there was a disagreement over the final scope. Our written estimate included 9 radiator valves, but one could not be replaced. Initially, I was told there would be no price adjustment, and I had to go through unnecessary back-and-forth and escalate the issue to management. After speaking with a manager, they finally agreed to a $550 adjustment. I called Russo Brothers plumbing for a blocked sink drain in my only bathroom. The plumber Raoul came on time and did his best to snake the sink but it was completely blocked. The problem was bigger than I expected but at every step Raoul explained what needed to be done and gave me options. In the end several pipes needed to be replaced including the standing pipe. This was a massive job and was completed in one day due to the work of Raoul, Bryan and Anthony. Their supervisor Ed also came to help complete the job. I recently had a problem with my hot water heater. I called Russo Bros. On the recommendation of one of my neighbors and they sent James. It took a couple of days because we had to order a part that was not available locally. But ultimately the problem was resolved. James was very professional and explained what was happening throughout the process. The office staff was also very supportive, making sure I was kept in the loop as they worked to get the part we needed. Just because a business has a high number of Google reviews doesn't mean they're trustworthy. Russo Bros Reviews: * Google: Nearly 2,000 reviews * Yelp: About 100 reviews with an average of 3 stars - and many of them are 1-star ratings! The Google reviews for this company seem highly questionable. Just a heads up: companies (possibly like Russo Bros) can pay third-party services to flood their Google listings with fake 5-star reviews, which pushes down the visibility of genuine negative ones. On Yelp, this type of manipulation is much harder to pull off, if not impossible. Honestly, I feel completely ripped off by this company. I usually check Yelp before hiring anyone, and I really wish I had this time. Here's what happened: I woke up to find my heater running non-stop. I have a two-year-old child, so I wanted someone to come check it out ASAP while I was at work. I searched for local HVAC companies, and Russo Bros popped up as a sponsored ad. Seeing the volume of Google reviews, I gave them the benefit of the doubt. Big mistake. My home has a brand-new boiler system connected to an ancient thermostat. I suspected the thermostat was the issue, but I wanted a second opinion. I explained all this to the office when I booked, and again to the tech when he arrived. Within minutes, the tech agreed - it was almost certainly the thermostat. Then came the shocker: they quoted me $600 to replace it. A basic digital thermostat costs $30-$40 on Amazon. On top of that, they planned to replace it with a discontinued model that looked like it was from the 1990s. Nothing fancy is needed - I'm not looking for smart-home integration - but using outdated tech is absurd. I made a few calls and learned that this type of job should cost around $150-$300 for a standard digital model. Naturally, if you want a smart thermostat with advanced features, it'll cost more - but that wasn't the case here. Funny enough, when I spoke to another (actually reputable) HVAC company and told them the model Russo Bros tried to install, the tech literally said: "OMG, do they even still make those?!" That response said it all. When I questioned the $600 quote, the tech got defensive and told me to just pay the $200 assessment fee (after tax) if I didn't want the work done. He was at my place for about five minutes - the rest of the time was me asking him to justify that outrageous price. I felt completely taken advantage of, and I believe people need to be aware of this. After the tech left, I called the office and asked to speak to a manager. They said someone would call within 24 hours. As of now, I'm still waiting - though I won't be surprised if no one calls. UPDATE: The service manager did call me the next morning. We went over everything in detail. He tried to justify the charges, as expected, but eventually understood where I was coming from. He acknowledged that the thermostat model they tried to use was outdated and said they're working on phasing it out. He was respectful, professional, and ended up refunding the assessment fee. Honestly, Russo Bros is lucky to have him on their team. If the company's leadership doesn't make changes soon, their reputation will continue to suffer. I contracted Russo brothers to fix a sewer pipe in my basement, over a year ago. the guys who came didn't test before leaving and the pipe was leaking they installed a toilet (as a deal so they said) , which after a year is already loose and unstable , my previous old fashioned toilet was there since the house built no problems I called to have fixed they want to charge me after only a 1 year of the install don't think so, will never call them again read more

Sent them an inquiry at 4am when our heat broke in the middle of the night. At 7:30 I got a call and the man on the phone was so nice and was able to send someone out by 9:30. The man that came out was excellent and even fixed an extra problem that he noticed while he was there. Then later that day, we noticed our furnace was leaking. Someone else came out the next day free of charge to diagnose the issue. He gave us an estimate to fix the issue and it was pretty expensive. We ended up fixing the issue for less and didn't use Russo Bros but overall the experience with them was excellent. read more

EXPENSIVE!!!!! They charge a fee to give you a quote and then the quote is ridiculous. I had them quote unclogging a drain and replacing a cartridge in a faucet. We had the replacement cartridge. They quoted over $1,900. Would not give a breakdown of hours and there were no parts. I declined, paid their fee for a 5 minute consultation that could have been given over the phone, and the replaced the cartridge myself in 10 minutes. We hired another licensed plumber who did the drain work for $250. Sad part is I've used Russo before to install an HVAC. No friends and family at Russo Brothers; it's all about the $s. Lesson is know what your job should cost and look elsewhere. These guys are SCAMMERS. AVOID. read more

The prices here are absolutely insane. They overcharge, they misdiagnose, and they should honestly be put out of business for how they operate. I spent over $2,000 for a "repair" that didn't fix anything. The original issue is STILL not resolved. To make it worse, they had to come back out to reinspect their own failed work, and then had the nerve to charge me an additional travel fee. Wahib Owies was terrific. My bathroom sink was very clogged, as was my shower drain. Wahib was very patient because the sink was a bit of a challenge. He had to snake it a couple of times to get at the root of the problem, which proved to be a hair clog way down in the pipes in the first floor unit. He has a great sense of humor, and he really took the time to explain how the pipes and drains are connected and how they work. I thought that was awesome because my building is old, and now I have a better sense of how things work. Both my drains work great now. I've very happy with the results. I called Roto Rooter who has a reputation for high prices and I received an estimate from them for the same work in the amount of $1,475! Other reviews mention that their work is good, however. Charge for estimate and then give ridiculous quote. Our quote was for over $1900 to unclog a tub and replace a cartridge on a faucet. We had the replacement cartridge and I did it in 10 minutes. Another licensed plumber did the tub for $250. These guys are shameless and expensive. I'd know what you are having done and ask for itemized cost. And then get a second quote.
