DO NOT CALL! Had basement flood and needed someone to come out and repair. They charge almost 200 to take a look yet all he did was open the unit and said board and fan needed to be replaced. Took him less than 2 min. Gave a quote of almost 7k to replace 2 control board and two fans. I called a few other companies and no one quoted over $4200 and found one to repair for $2800. They did great job and discovered that there were a few other issues that the Russo brothers did not discover on there "diagnostic" visit. Mark and his team came to install a new central air conditioning unit for our ground floor zone, along with a new air handler in our basement. They performed all the work according to the estimate and everything was installed perfectly. I worked with Joe Alonzo to get quotes and information about the work and he was very forthcoming - even giving us options for more budget friendly units (because the price of replacing an entire system is a pretty penny). Along with the 10 year parts warranty, Russo Bros will service the new unit annually for free the first two years. I also have their whole home service plan, which saves me on parts for anything plumbing or HVAC-related. There's peace of mind knowing that Russo Bros does the work the right way. I had them fix water lines for the new dishwasher and fridge installs and they serviced our boiler to make sure our heating worked properly in the winter. They test everything and emailed me photos of all the work performed so I know what to look for in case something goes wrong in the future. My furnace quit on Thursday morning, and I called Russo Bros. for service. They had nothing available until Saturday. It was cool outside but not cold, so I agreed. They gave me a window of 10am - 2 pm. At 2 pm on Saturday, I called to see when the technician would arrive and was told he is running late. He arrived at 4:30, sat in his truck for 15 minutes, and then spoke to someone on his phone at my front door for another 5 minutes before he excused himself and finally entered my house. (So much for "we offer same day service and a precise appointment window"). He diagnosed the problem rather quickly. I needed a new gas valve, but he didn't have one of that type in his truck or back at the shop. (So much for "with fully stocked trucks, most problems are resolved in a single visit"). He told me they only stock what they sell. I wish I had been told that on Thursday! He began to tell me they would order a gas valve on Monday, But, since the temperature in the house had fallen to an uncomfortable level, I said I'll find a firm that has one in stock. read more

They do good work, but they are very overpriced. BTW, that is not only my opinion, that is also the opinion of most people I spoke to. They were very good 10 or 15 years ago, but I suppose that they've gotten too big. The other problem I have with them is that there is no price transparency. When you ask them to split out parts and labor, they don't. Yeah, I know about the "rate book", but it is too opaque. In summary, watch out for these guys. Reverse engineer their estimates. Google the parts they're going to use and realize that this is typically MSRP, not wholesale which is what they pay for the parts. The rest is labor and it is severely overpriced. read more

I had this toilet for 7 years with no problem, then this plumber caused a new problem So, did not fix the water hammer and caused another problem with the water tank not shutting down, but continuing to run. I've called Russo Bros twice for two different problems, and both times they had to re-send another technician to fix the work of their own guys. First, I had a leak coming from a heating pipe in December. The guy who came out wound up insisting on fixing several pipes that cost me over $3k. He was real condescending about it and told me that if I didn't fix these other pipes, that it wouldn't be worth fixing just the leaking one. When he finished his work, he told me to flush my steam furnace every other week to avoid the buildup of rust and corrosion that caused the leaks in the first place. So I followed his instructions to the letter -- and my basement flooded with furnace water. Russo Bros sent someone else who said that a part that had been installed before was faulty, so he replaced it at no charge. But he told me NOT to flush my furnace and that he would NEVER tell a customer to do that. So I didn't flush it again all winter. As of right now, there's an HVAC person from another company in my basement fixing a furnace leak that he says happened because I didn't flush my furnace. Which is what the Russo Bros 2nd guy said not to do. Even technicians in the same company can't get their advice straight. Second, I had a major toilet clog a few weeks ago. I have my own 6-foot toilet auger because I have two teenage sons, but my toilet is no match for them. Now, both my sons are very good about using just enough paper to get clean, and I also have a bidet attachment. We use very thin, highly degradeable bamboo toilet paper that's supposed to be better for septic systems. Yet my toilet keeps clogging. Fine. I called Russo Bros and a guy came and barely fixed my toilet. He said that was the best he could do, even though it still wasn't flushing right. The next day, the toilet clogged again. I called Russo Bros and was told that they wouldn't be able to come out until the *next* day. I said that that was out of the question, as they were the ones who didn't do a good job the first time around and that this was our only upstairs bathroom for a family of 4. So they sent another new guy out an hour later (we're not up to 4 Russo Bros technicians for 2 problems) who fixed the toilet completely, but told me to stop putting paper in the toilet. I told him that I don't use fancy, thick, 3-ply paper. But he said not even to use degradable 1-ply bamboo paper. He told me to set up a bucket for soiled toilet paper. Like I have the time or inclination to empty a poop bucket several times a day. And where would I empty it into, anyway? This second guy was really smug and condescending about it, with an attitude like, "Hey, it's your funeral." I wound up pouring some industrial-grade vinegar down the toilet which seems to have fixed the problem for good. And at this point I'd rather pay for a new toilet to be installed (not by Russo Bros, who quoted me $1k for that job, whereas I can buy a toilet at Home Depot for under $400 and have one of their contractor partners install it for just a couple hundred) than to call Russo Bros again. I'll never call Russo Bros again. They overcharge, they're condescending, and twice now I've had to have them come back out to fix work from their own previous people. read more

I recently requested a quote from Russo Bros. for a bathroom sink p-trap and snake. The visit for a quote cost $69 plus tax, and the technician couldn't do the snake and in fact had none in his truck, and would have to call in their snake "specialist" to do the job. Their quote was $895.00. I contacted another business who did the whole job in 35 minutes, that same day, for $200.00. Caveat Emptor. read more

AC broke on Friday, 7/19. Called company I always use and still have not called me back. Found Russo Bros., called at 4:14pm on 7/19 and they sent a service tech at 8:00am 7/20. He told me the issue, called the installation tech who came out on Sunday, 7/21. He explained all the options and we went with the one he recommended. Said he would fit us in since my husband has severe allergies. On Wednesday, 7/24, a 3 man crew, led by Keenan Tuitt arrived at 9am and worked until 10pm, making sure the system was working and cooling properly. This 3 man crew were the nicest and most polite workers I have ever met. The were neat, efficient, cleaned up everything and took away all the old units. I am so happy that I found Russo Bros. and will only use them. Great experience and were so kind to the issue we were having. read more

I recently put a call into Russo Bros to check on A/C. They came quickly & was advised that the compressor need to be replaced. The compressor was installed in 2016 or 2017 and was still under warrant. He told me that he would send me a copy of what he found by the following day. I have not received anything my email in over a week. I have sent to emails to the service manager since and asked for a call back & again have not heard anything. Please read this review and make an informed decision for yourself. The company responds very quickly and can get someone out to the house pretty fast. The technician was very polite and friendly. He put a bootie on when in the house but it defeat the purpose when you leave the house with the bootie. I am giving this company one star for how much they charge and I'm outraged at the price. Our heater was broken and the problem was the igniter. You can buy that for 25. We were charged 179 for diagnostic fee. And then charged us almost 900 for the igniter and the work they did. Which didn't take more than 30 minutes (not including the time they left the house to go get the igniter). We were told the reason for the very high price is due to the fact that the price is set by a third party which is the average price for this. I still can't believe how high the price is. If you have money to spend then this is the company for you. If you are an average household looking for a someone to charge you a fair price, please do not use this company. Find a local company who has their client interest at heart. It's a shame. We were hoping that this company would be our to go company for things that need to be fixed. Everyone needs one. Russo Bros & Co overcharged us on a service call for a faucet leak in Morristown. We needed a faucet repair cylinder for a bathtub faucet that costs less than $50 in Home Depot. The charge for the work that took the service person one hour was $900.00. There were no structural issue, no tile removed or any extraordinary issues. Then, I called the service desk at Russo 3 times. The woman who took the call advised a service manager would contact me to discuss this matter. I am still waiting for a call back! This type of service is what we all fear when we need assistance and make service calls. You would do well to go elsewhere when you need a plumber! read more
