Our breakfast here was really great. I had stuffed waffles with strawberries on top and sausage. All their ingredients are locally sourced. The sausage was from the meat market just down the road and was so good that we waited for the market to open so we could bring some home. The milk was from a local dairy. So, we've barely started into our second to last day of the Anchorage to Traverse City trek. We're calling it the Grand Rapids (Wi) to Marquette (Mi) stretch. About three hours on the road and time for a routine rest stop. Long enough to stretch the dogs and use the restroom. Really the sole reason for the stop. Call it a social norm or just the right thing to do, we believe the use of a business's bathroom should be followed-up with a purchase. Even without that terrible "bathrooms are for paying customers" sign. We ordered iced teas to-go and started perusing their menu when we noticed all the wonderful choices and decided lunch come early today! The food was pretty good. Bathrooms clean. The biggest shame was that we had to leave and eat in the car with the dogs while we travel. The dining room was priceless. An incredible rustic feel, for sure. That cozy, down-home atmosphere that just makes you want to stay. To top it off, they have a monitor in the corner featuring a lighthouse cam. I'm guessing somewhere on Lake Michigan? Great views of some pretty big ships! The couple running the place were a treasure. Don't like what they put on your sandwich? What would be better? They're happy to comply and have you back! Locally sourced, fresh breakfast here! The breakfast sausage patty was so good, we had to visit Jim's Meats to get some for home! The local/fresh Tetzners milk was delicious! Good service! Bloody Mary's looked great (we couldn't imbibe that morning). It was a little pricy for northern Wisconsin but worth it. Loved the log cabin feel! read more

Rustic Roost has reopened as The Rustic Roost. Great place for breakfast. Kaylee was my server was great and recommended the Apple French Toast. It was good and came with choice of meat and chose slice of Ham. Coffee came out quick and as was finishing cup a carafe was brought to table which was nice. Lots of parking right off highway. Inside has a cabin decor with tables on one side and a bar with High Top on the other side. read more

If it was possible to leave a negative star review I certainly would! This was the absolute worst place I have ever been. My 4 grandsons and myself were there for the worst breakfast ever!! Rubbery pancakes, fatty bacon, sausage that tasted like dog food and talk about over priced. Almost $80.00 for breakfast. UNBELIEVABLE We will NEVER return!! Just had an eggxellent breakfast! Locally sourced eggs, dairy, vodka and more, are used by the restaurant owners. We had the eggs Benedict and #4. Yummy! We took half home for later. Big portions. We have ordered from them in the past for our company lunches (about 7-10 people) without any issues until this past year. They asked us to give them a day notice if we were going to order, what difference would it make if we all came in. Same amount of food! Unfortunately today they refused to do a to-go order for us stating they are ONLY doing in-house orders. Not sure what the problem is but we may never contact them again for our company lunches. I ordered the tuna melt, which costs about $5 and is supposed to come with a pickle and chips. The watiress asked me if I would like french fries or just chips, and I said "FRENCH FRIIIIES" and was wondering when she didn't tell me if that would cost extra....I assumed it would, but a waitress should tell you something like that anyway. It was an extra $1.50 or something. There were only 5 or 6 other people in there at 12:30 on a Monday in November. Service was fast and friendly. My tuna melt and fries were good. Stopped in for all u can eat $11.99 Friday fish fry. Choices supposedly were cod, perch, blue gill or whitefish. I wanted blue gill, was informed they were out of blue gill and cod but that walleye was available, so I ordered the walleye. After waiting over an hour the food finally arrived. The waitress was constantly apologizing to patrons for the long wait. Huge disorganized mess! Bill finally arrived and they charged me $15.99 for my dinner. I told the waitress they offered me the walleye in lieu of the bluegill and that I had been overcharged. They refused to reduce my bill, had I been informed that the walleye was that much more I would have ordered whitefish! Located in Iron River Wisconsin, the Rustic Roost is a corner stone of a restaurant and has been there for many many years. The pancakes were really good and I seem to be developing an affinity for pancakes since eating here. The portions are big and the coffee is like Biance...hot and black! read more

Terrible service. Waitress delivered our water & took our menus. Had to flag her down to let her know we wanted to order. She says "oh, I thought you ordered?" Takes the order, 40minutes later NO food while everyone that came in the place after us we're eating. We got up to leave and she says, oh,I forgot to put your order in! I'll do it now....
