When you wake up in the morning and immediately start talking about last night's meal- you know it was a great restaurant. I just can't believe I have never been here before when visiting Iron River. The setting and the view alone is worth a visit. Set on the edge of Deep Lake, get a window seat if you can to watch the sunset. It's not quite a supper club (which is okay!) but we still ordered Brandy Old-fashioned. Trust me- they make them well! I think we may have converted my cousin to making this her Wisconsin drink of choice based on no small part on this version. The menu is midwestern steak house with flair. I ordered one of the nightly specials- pecan encrusted walleye. It was so good. LIghtly breaded with hints of fennel- a combination I never would have thought of but it was so tasty. of course it was served with salad and a small loaf of bread- a great way to start a meal. THe dessert menu looked intriguing but we were stuffed- I took half my meal home and ate it for lunch the next day! Still tasty. At first, you will think you're heading into horror movie territory, then all of the sudden there's a restaurant. There's nothing fancy about this place. It's full of local color and delicious flavor. Nice selection on the menu--and quite interesting. I mean, the Blackened Ahi Tuna--each subsequent ingredient gets stranger: provolone cheese, spring greens, black bean pico de gallo, and wasabi mayo. Fairly friendly atmosphere. It's clear there are regulars here by the hugs being doled out by the servers. My steak, brussels sprouts with bacon, and baked potato were excellent. The steak was cooked just to my liking. Overall, this place is pretty solid! It is a little pricey for what you get, and that is the only reason it doesn't get five stars. That all said, this is a fairly typical northern Wisconsin supper club/steak house type restaurant. The view out of the dining room is beautiful - it overlooks the lake. The salad card is an awesome touch, although the salad itself wasn't anything great. The warm bread they serve is awesome, and my prime rib and potato were both excellent. The service was good overall, not great. We'll definitely visit again if we are in the area. read more

The location is beautiful! However, we won't be returning. My husband grew up eating here with his family and raved about. But it has since changed hands. The menu doesn't reflect what is actually available. The prices do not reflect the quality of the food, which was mediocre at best. At the bar, if it doesn't come straight from the bottle don't bother asking for it. I asked for a drink that requires simple syrup, they don't have it. I have never before encountered a bar that doesn't have simple syrup. I have had much better experiences at plenty of restaurants in deep woods Wisconsin, and this place missed the mark. read more

The food was very good but the service was awful. Two waitresses and no bartender, and the place was busy. I fault whoever is responsible for staffing, not the waitresses themselves.. Our waitress was in the kitchen putting together take-out orders. We didn't even see her after our food was served. No water refills, no asking how the meal was, etc. We had to sit gorever at our table and then stand a long time at the podium just to get our check. The poor service soured my opinion of the place. read more

We were there for 2 hours! Several tables the same size as ours came and went in this time. Salad was very tiny. To make matters much, much worse, their was a MOUSE on the floor that I had to remove. Double charged for drinks, and when this was all brought to their attention they were reluctant to even take the drinks off. The Lodge overlooks Deep Lake just outside the town of Iron River Wisconsin. The view is amazing. I have been going here since I was born (40 years) and in fact my Aunt Mary and Uncle Bill Perkich owned this place in the 1950's and 60's. They have a good fish fry, prime rib on the weekend, steaks and a great bar and staff! The little town of Iron River gets bigger every year. It will never outgrow Deep Lake Lodge.... read more

A huge surprise, given the location. I had the beef medallions, nicely cooked and the steak itself was delicious. Hubby had the cap steak, which is our new favorite cut of meat. The little salad cards they provide are the cutest thing ever, and we had a brandy OF to top off our meals. Definitely worth a visit! read more

My wife and I have been to their restaurant twice in the past few years while 'up north' on a family vacation. In our opinion the food is excellent and so is the staff. Last visit the special that evening was prime rib, my favorite cut of beef, and it was cooked to perfection....and I'm fairly fussy when it comes to good food. Both visits we were seated at a large window overlooking the lake - what a great view and background for cocktails and conversation. Our server was friendly and attentive without being pesty. This is the only place I've been to where a small lobster tail is offered as a side order! Fantastic. I've had it both time's we've been there. We get up to the area at least once a year and stopping for dinner at Deep Lake Lodge is a must do on our schedule from now on. What a gem in the 'backwoods' and a great place for truly fine dining, cocktails and dessert. read more

We come up to the area from Chicago on a regular basis and Deep Lake Lodge is probably the best dinner option in the area outside of Duluth. The staff is very friendly and the owner, Tyler, does a great job with the cooking (ribs are his specialty). They started carrying a wider selection of craft beers on tap and the menu has a variety of options as well as a kids menu. If you're looking for a true Northern Wisconsin dining experience, this is your place. read more

Spot is good, but Deep Lake is better. Food, service, space, decor, view. All better. Will come back here every time we go fishing up here.

Sis & I went Friday night for the fish fry. We ordered the deep fried cod. The senior meal came with 3 small pieces of fish, which was tasty. The baked potato was underdone & needed about another 10 minutes in the oven. There is nothing worse then half baked potatoes. The tarter sauce was good. The warm bacon bit bread was outstanding. .....but the star of the meal was the salad. They give you a slip of paper with all the things you would like on your salad & you circle as many as you want plus your favorite dressing. What a nice surprise... & all for 9 bucks. The waiter was so friendly & helpful. He even agreed to take our picture. What a wonderful relaxing evening. We will certainly come here next time we are on vacation. read more

Went for dinner on Thursday.7.14.16. Food was good overall but they had only one waitress who was overwhelmed. She sat our party at a window that had a broken screen that she refused to pin up so we could have a good view of the lake. We asked to be moved to an open table with a view, she said sure just let me clean it and one minute later gave it to a new party. When we confronted her, she just reiterated how busy she was being alone on the floor. We had to ask for the bread that everyone else had on their tables. Then - as they advertise as a resort and "steakhouse" they ran out of baked potatoes at 7 on a Thursday evening. Seriously? After reading the other reviews, I wonder if the resort was short-staffed this evening. Regardless, it would take a lot for me to return. The waitress could use some lessons in creating a positive dining experience rather than rushing thru to just get the job done. read more
