Do not buy into the hype. This organization has been a terrible experience from the start. I needed interior sidelights for my home and asked for an estimated timeframe before placing my order. I was told it would take one to two weeks. Based on that, I paid 2800 dollars for two sidelights that measured sixteen inches by nine feet. Two weeks passed and nothing happened. At the end of the second week, I emailed to ask for an update. There was no reply. At the end of the third week, I emailed again and called. Still no reply. By the end of the fourth week, my wife called and I emailed once more. Again there was no response. When they finally contacted me, Kristi dismissed my concerns and simply said they receive many calls and requests. She also told me the sidelights they were building were actually twenty inches wide rather than the sixteen inches I had ordered. She suggested I have them pre hung, which I agreed to. She then issued a 2800 dollar credit and said someone would call me on Monday. She added that I should call them if I did not hear from anyone. I called and asked for Kristi to return the call. Instead of a response, I received an email claiming I had never called. She later gave me her cell phone number and told me to contact her the next day. I texted her and also called the office again. There was still no reply. I'm five weeks in and no end in sight. At this point, I simply want my money returned. I am absolutely excited and pleased about two glass and steel sliding "barn" doors we bought from Rustica...At first, I was hesitant to purchase something so expensive online, but any fears I had were immediately washed away when I opened the box to look at these beautiful doors. These doors are exactly what I asked for down to the smallest detail. All of the parts were provided to install them and Rustica has detailed instructions (some are videos) on their website so we were able to install them without the usual frustrations of DIY work. The doors were custom and I was really wow'd by the quality of the metal, the finish and the glass, they did such a perfect job bringing what started as a drawing on their website to fruition. It is much more beautiful than I expected. First, the door is absolutely stunning. It is heavy beautiful hardwood and stain is perfect. You can tell it is high quality work and materials. I have not had it installed yet so will update with pictures once it is in place. I did have an issue with shipping and delivery but the company reached out immediately and did everything they could to assist. In the end it all worked out. They also were able to identify an issue with some of the information on their website and they are committed to fixing it so they even thanked me for reporting it. It is refreshing to do business with a company that acknowledges issues and works towards a win-win solution and Rustica and Doug certainly came through. I would use this company anytime. read more

My front door is beautiful however there is a "cat eye" right in the middle of the glass which takes away from the beauty. It's very upsetting considering how much we spent on the door and the door sat in "quality check" for a week. I was fine with my for being late at first because I wanted a perfect door but now it sitting in quality check for longer than expected is just annoying. I ended up not ordering from them, so I don't think it would be fair to rate less than 3*. Strangely enough, by doing this review I'm raising their average rating slightly which is a huge red flag in my book. The reason why I did not place an order with them is because they wanted to charge me $500 just to crate a door. That's not shipping. That's just the crate and packing, which I thought was obnoxious. I've bought many doors recently, and the last set cost $100 to crate. I understand metal doors are heavy, but $500 is way too much. Also, they didn't want to take the time to understand California law even after I cited the appropriate regulations. I'm in Hawaii, but my freight forwarder is in California. Its actually illegal for them to charge CA state tax if its going to an authorized freight forwarder. It's literally the law. Yet they didn't care to understand it and said I'd be charged tax based on the destination address. A very mixed bag experience with a "happy ending." On a positive note, the front entrance door itself, now that it has finally arrived, lives up to my expectations. High quality, good fit and finish, and overall well executed exactly as ordered. However, GETTING the door proved to be an extremely frustrating adventure. Ordered on May 6th with a 5 week lead time; initially confirmed for June 29th--i.e., right out of the gate 2-3 weeks late. June 29th quickly turned into a mid July estimate, which in turn was pushed to July 22nd. July 22nd came and went--door finally made out of the production facility on July 26th, arriving in CT on August 3rd. Yes, customer service was accommodating and willing to provide updates, but even giving Rustica the benefit of the doubt because of a material shortage due to Covid, nearly 3 months vs 5 weeks is not an "acceptable" production delay... We purchased an entry door from Rustica for our new house in Colorado. It was the modern cottage model to be specific & it cost over $4K. We were not able to get our Certificate of Occupancy (C/O) because the door did not meet standard building codes in regard to thermal breaks. It does not have one. In a nutshell a door must have a thermal break so that the cold stays outside & the warm stays inside in the winter. If there is not a break, condensation or frost can occur & it is occurring. This subsequently encourages degradation of the door materials. Our contractor had to construct a temporary door in order to get our C/O, then switched back to the Rustica door. He communicated with Rustica about these issues & was told they had no idea what he was talking about. He was also told that we should be aware of what the codes are in our area. He dug a bit deeper & found out that the same "universal" building codes apply in Springville, Utah where the doors are manufactured & they apply in most other municipalities in the US & other parts of the world. This has been a very frustrating experience. It is a beautiful door, but I would expect that if I am ordering a residential exterior door for $4500 from a "legit" company, it should pass universal building codes. Bottom line, Rustica makes aesthetically beautiful doors, but the requirement of a thermal break is part of the universal building codes, (NOT unique to one municipality & this door does not meet the standard. There was no information in the description of the door on Rustica's website that the steel door frame does not have a thermal break. I assumed we would not have to worry about it, as we did not have to worry about it when ordering any other exterior door on our house. We paid $4500 for a door that does not meet standards? Very frustrating. I would hope our issue is not the case with all their doors, but be VERY careful if ordering from Rustica & ask ALL the questions even if you don't think they should be asked. TLDR: Save yourself the headache and order your door somewhere else if you don't want to deal with a leaking door on the first day of rain. We ordered a $5,000+ door with transom and side glass windows. We sealed and painted the outside and installed everything properly (was for a guesthouse so had to and did pass town inspections and codes). But after our first rain, it's leaking pretty badly. I called them / sent them the pictures but their response is I should get some silicone and reseal the junction between the glass and wood...not expecting some DIY fix for their poor seal/quality after spending $5k+ on a door. Also, they recommend you seal and paint "six sides" of the door...they blamed the water leak because we didn't paint the inside. My question is even if we painted the inside, that would mean water is still coming through the front and would just sit in the wood - so, not really solving the issue. Would give 0 stars if I could since exterior doors are meant to keep the elements out...but one star for the CS rep, Keaton, who was very friendly and tried to help but prob wasn't able to help due to her manager. I wish I would have found all these reviews prior to ordering. I ordered a door from them and when it arrived there were 2 spots on the glass that are very noticeable. When I reached out to them to fix it they told me that I can have a glass company repair it and then they will reimburse me. I called several companies and they said that it would cost a lot because the glass in welded in between the metal door and they were worried if they opened the door to replace it that it may break the door. I then proceeded to reach out several more times and they stopped responding. I paid close to $8000 for this door. They need to take responsibility for this. Their proposed resolution was that I incur a further cost of $700 to ship them back for a replacement or take a refund of $220 (on a $4500 order) - apparently they already gave me a 15% discount when I placed the order during a Labor Day sale so this counts as a 20% refund total. While I love my new barn door, I have had a disappointing experience with Rustica so far, as I'm still waiting for parts to finish installing it. I ordered a custom metal barn door and it arrived when expected and in good condition. As I unpacked everything, it was clear that they sent the wrong hanging hardware (they sent hanging screws for a wood door instead of hex bolts for a metal door) and they also didn't include bolts to attach the door handles. I called to report the issue and the very nice customer service person could see in their system that they indeed did not ship the correct hardware and also didn't include the hex bolts for the door handles. A little over a week later the replacement hardware arrived today, but once again, they did not ship the bolts for the door handles. I called customer service again and explained what happened. She was very nice and apologetic and said that she could see in their notes that the door handle bolts were requested, but for some reason they didn't ship. While I had her on the phone, I asked about the barn door hook that was an option I selected when using their custom door build form. There were no holes drilled into the metal door for the hook, so I asked if I could return it since there is no obvious way to mount it. She then starting asking me questions about how I placed the order, insinuating that it was my fault for selecting this option for a metal door. I reiterated that this was an option offered when you go through the process of building a custom door on their website, I didn't order it separately, it was all done inside of their online custom build form. The form shouldn't even allow you to add this to your build if there is no way to attach it to the door! This would not be a huge issue, except when I asked her if I could return the door hook for a refund since there is no way to install it on the door, she said she didn't know and would have to ask the manager, who was gone for the day. So I am stuck with a $30 door hook that I can't use? I recommend that Rustica take a closer look at their quality control process when items are shipping, because clearly there is a disconnect between sales and fulfillment. I'd also suggest that they update their custom build tool so it doesn't allow someone to add on options that are not compatible with their custom door type, or make it clear in the product description what types of doors each option is compatible with. Hoping to hear back from the manager tomorrow about these issues, but for now, I await Rustica's third attempt to send me bolts to attach the door handles, and wistfully hope for a refund for the $30 hook that can't be installed on my door. read more

Our experience with Rustica was a roller coaster. I will say it ended with a wonderful outcome due to customer service. I originally would have only given 1 star but Kristy went above and beyond to make me happy and I will give 5 stars based on customer service. I ordered an 8080 and a 3060 wood door. Once received we installed the 3060 door. 3 days later my 3060 door exploded. All the seams came apart and split it all into pieces. We then checked our 8080 door (still in the crate) and it had also exploded. We spent thousands and thousands of dollars on these doors. My heart was broken!! These doors were gorgeous. I had several contractors look at these doors and they were so impressed with the quality and so shocked by what happened. No one can explain it. For context, we do live in Alabama and at that time the temps were in the 30s in the mornings and 80s in the afternoon. We think this may have had something to do with it. We also hung the door before building our porch over it. With all that being said. I call Rustica in a crying fit asking for a refund. This went on for several weeks. They had to get with corporate and work this out because like I said this was thousands and thousands of dollars we were talking about. I did grow impatient but Kristy was always texting or calling to ease my mind. She let me vent and cry whenever I needed to. After several weeks of worry, I got a phone call from Kristy and they refunded me in FULL for my doors. I chose to purchase doors elsewhere because I needed to finish my new home construction and could not wait for replacement doors while they processed my request for a refund. I took a risk but trusted they would do the right thing. They did the right thing and truly treated me like family in the end. I highly recommend Rustica for your door needs. before i get into the actual review, i have to come correct about one thing : our doors and hardware are absolutely STUNNING. HOWEVER, this is NOT an easy, READY-TO-INSTALL kit. if that's what you're expecting, you're going to be seriously disappointed. the doors and hardware are beautiful but you better be ok with lots of frustration and some serious work-arounds ... i ordered everything BEFORE i read through the YELP reviews and after the fact all i could do was hope MICHAEL H in MADISON was right about there being "some whiny, entitled people out there." the good news if i rely ONLY on my experience (with graphic, photographic evidence to the contrary from LOTS and LOTS of other folks), he was mostly right. however, out of 81 YELP reviews for RUSTICA HARDWARE, 57 are one star -- not a very happy customer base and nearly ALL the reviews over two stars are from folks who live in UTAH which is suspicious in itself (like maybe friends and family trying to pump up the curve). since the same complaints kept coming up over and over and over again, somebody in RUSTICA's management might want to consider the possibility they have some serious problems that need some serious attention. ordering was a relatively simple process complicated only by the dizzying number of options. delivery was prompt and our doors arrived safely in one piece. the boxes sat on our back patio for a couple weeks until our handyman could find the time to "help us" install them. but, like i said, if you're expecting an easy, READY-TO-ASSEMBLE KIT, think again. it took two folks who had a pretty good idea what they were doing nine hours (2 x 9 = 18) to get the doors (we have two) put together and properly hung. there were some immediate problems -- no matter how hard we banged the vertical tongue-and-groove pieces with a rubber mallet, there was an unsightly space (see photos) on either side of the four horizontal slats on the top and bottom. also, they forgot to rout out the openings to install the flush interior pulls (we got the SLIMS) and, as has been noted by several reviewers, they neglected to include the caps to cover the screws (see photos). have contacted customer service and will update my review after i've had the opportunity to gauge how well they resolve these challenges. update : JOSH in customer service was VERY helpful and VERY responsive. replacement pieces for the short top and bottom ties have shipped (see second update below) along with a touch-up kit. they DO NOT provide covers for the holes drilled in the door for the hanging hardware nor do they rout out the ones necessary to install the flush interior pulls. figure another 3 to 4 hours to get the doors re-assembled and rehung. second update : i originally posted this as a five-star review with the expectation that customer service would straighten out the couple problems i did have. because of the challenges in that process, i knocked 'em down to four stars and then three. here's the hateful part of the update : got an e-mail from RUSTICA with UPS tracking info on 2/22 saying the replacement pieces had shipped. when no package had arrived by 3/9 (a little over 2 weeks), i checked the status on the UPS website. the label was printed but the package NEVER shipped. really ???? sent 'em a grumpy e-mail and am waiting for a response. read more

I bought a custom exterior double door. upon arrival we had issues with missing parts and the "window pane" just completely fell off the window because it was glued. I paid over $5000 for this door and many details were missed such as weather stripping and basic hardware. When it rains the door leaks like a sieve, which is warping our beautiful wood floors we finished ourselves. NO CUSTOMER SUPPORT OFFERED. The finish was immediately coming off and they told me my exterior door should have been installed in an enclosed space? I am horribly embarrassed of this whole ordeal! Here's an experience from our purchase of a custom made barn door from rustica. We were very excited to be able to customize our door and willing to pay the steep price. The door and all the hardware cost us $4,500. I would have expected for this price to get a stellar experience but unfortunately it did not turn out to be as we expected. We ordered a 10 feet track only to realize after the track was received the fine print stipulated any track longer than 8 feet would be delivered in 2 pieces. Ok it is what it is we thought and proceeded with the installation only to realize that the splice plate connecting the 2 track pieces was not in the box. OK, call customer service they agreed to ship it free of charge. The problem is there's no expedited shipping option (we offered to pay for it) and the part is shipped ground. Which means our contractor will have to come back when available. Same with the door handles, they were shipped without mounting screws. Rustica send the screws free of charge but again, ground shipping. The door is installed but we have no way of using it. Let me go on. We purchased for an additional couple of hundred dollars the soft close mechanism. The installation instructions are horrible and the owners video makes it look simple but in reality it's a nightmare. No one is mentioning that you need a certain clearance from the top of the door to the track otherwise you can't mount the little pieces that activate the soft close mechanism. So, let's then install them to the back of the door. Great, take the extremely heavy door of the track, mount the engaging pieces at the back of the door, excitedly out the door back on track and guess what? The little engaging pieces mounted with the only two screws provided, when engaging the soft close they shift and get away from the the soft close catch so it never engages. Take the door down, second time, find some screws that match the ones provided and add two more screws to each engaging piece. Out the door back on track, finally it works. Not over: install the door stop. Looks great but there are no half drilled holes available for the door stop to latch on and when the 400 pound door moves, the door stopper just slides and scratches the track. Now the beautiful Satin chrome track looks like it was scratched by a cat. In conclusion it would be great for the owners to provide more detailed videos and installation instructions.
