If you're in the mood for some delicious, more traditional Italian food at a nice restaurant, Rustico Italiano is your place. We tried a few of the antipasti specials that were not on the menu. One was prosciutto surrounded by breading which was delicious but we thought there could have been less breading as the meat inside was so good on its own. We also tried a pork dish with roasted pepper and it was great. For primis, we got the Osso Buco Di Bisonte, with braised bison shank served with pappardelle (the super wide pasta, yum) in a Barolo wine reduction. The lasagna with wild boar (also a special that evening) was delicious as well. For dessert, I had to get the tiramisu and we tired the Affogato. read more

Super cute higher end Italian restaurant. Our food was excellent however the choices for those who don't eat meat are limited. We are pescatarian and they have just a few vegetarian or seafood dishes, they primarily serve veal. If you eat meat you'll want to give them a try! read more

I hesitate to share this as it is a small restaurant serving delicious, authentic Italian dishes with excellent service. I want to keep it to myself, but given the crowd, the word is out. The owner is everywhere ensuring things are perfect. The baked clams were bready, but I a good way, with chunks of clams in a moist not super garlicky breading with a nice amount of lemon. Delish. The eggplant app was beautiful and tasty too. On a cold winter evening the papardelle in an unctuous shredded pork ragu was to die for. Not a bit of sauce left in my dish. The osso buco with bone marrow was presented beautifully and tasted even better. The wine list was varied and we had a very special barolo. The evening ended with ricotta cheese cake (not too sweet) that was creamy good. A couple of creamy lemoncellos were the perfect goodbye gift. read more

This is the real deal people! We walked into a cosy and quaint dining room, white table cloths adorning each table. We were celebrating our anniversary and were offered a nice table up front by the window by the Chef-owner, Nino, who was so gracious and helpful throughout our stay. He brought us a basket of bread that was so meaty and crusty, authentically baked by a small artisan bakery. It was perfect. We ordered the Caesar salad - mine came with beautiful white anchovies on top! It's was light and creamy and so tasty! The Chef's specials all sounded incredible but I selected a veal dish from the regular menu. I had veal scallopini layered with eggplant and mozzarella. The sauce was so flavorful and delicious - I couldn't stop eating it! Don had his usual - rigatoni bolognese. He's ordered it so often that he knows how exceptional this one was. He says it was the best he's ever had! We were too full for dessert but we were served limoncello which must be flown from Capri, the owner's hometown. It wasn't as syrupy and sweet as I've had all too often. We were so delighted with the whole experience. We don't often eat Italian out because we've been disappointed before, but we will become regular customers of this place! Well done, Nino! read more

Another great experience at one of our favorite Italian places. It was New Year's Eve and we got there at 6:30 before the rush. New item of calamari stuffed with lobster. Man was that great! Had Veal Vitello which was a light cream sauce and very tender veal. Had 2 bottles of moderately priced wine for 3 of us . Finished with a tiramisu which was delish. They brought out a complimentary amaretto to cap off the meal. Nice warm finish on a cold day. Service good and was greet by Nino the owner who gave a big welcoming hug for the holiday. The food is always high quality and consistently delicious, and the service is excellent every time. You can tell the owner takes a lot of pride in the restaurant. My wife and I just came back from Rustico Italiano, and we had a great time! We went there with good friends of ours who are regulars at the restaurant. Nino the owner and Greta took good care of us. As an appetizer we had a delicious calamari stuffed with cheese and crab. As entrees we ordered, a trip of pasta, veal cannelloni, braciole on a bed of linguine, and I ordered my favorite, bucatini Amatriciana. For dessert, our friends had lemon cake and we had the cannoli. All the plates were amazing, real authentic Italian fine cuisine. The ambiance was classy, warm and romantic. This was our first time having dinner at Rustico Italiano Restaurant. We had an amazing dinner last night with friends. When you enter it is like stepping into someone's dining room, beautiful white tablecloths, well set table, but it felt like home. Our server was fantastic, the food was absolutely fantastic! We had the appetizer special of ricotta, mozzarella and prosciutto, it was one of the best appetizers we've ever had. The veal with the gorgonzola sauce was so tender and so flavorful. I enjoyed the snapper tonight, the ravioli with goat cheese and beets, not so much. Waiter was nice and the ambiance was lovely. When the check came we started to put a 20% tip on the check and realised they added an 18% service charge! WTF!? Result: no tip. Not happy about that. Why was that done? Won't go back. read more

Second visit recently...can't imagine a third...terrible service on a Saturday night...three hour dinner for two courses...no drinks for 30-45 minutes...salad almost bone dry...since our server was nowhere to be found, poured some olive oil from the table on the dry romaine...not a good fit...my bolognese was acceptable - not superb, certainly...I've made better salads and pasta at home...table bread average...no one at the table of 4 seemed overwhelmed with the alleged "amazing" self-proclaimed cuisine... no offer of a complimentary slice of sweet for the terrible service...really a disappointment! read more

We have regularly eaten at Il Rustico, in Lake Worth, Florida, each year, when in Florida during the winter season, simply because it is one of our favorite restaurants for several very positive reasons. To begin with, Nino the owner always personally welcomes his clientele, and his beautiful dining room is filled with soft, NOT LOUD, classically popular music, unlike some restaurants, wherein the noise is so very loud, that having a conversation becomes quite difficult. The service is excellent, and the food is even better. Having celebrated my birthday there, once again, for probably the fourth or fifth consecutive year, [in very late March], I enjoyed Nino's special branzeno fish dish, and be assured with our family members also present, everyone enjoyed his or her meal. Ambiance: Clean and Cozy. This is the only positive thing I can say about our experience. Service: Poor. From the moment we were seated it went down hill. Several had the special appetizer - we all tried it. Not good. Very disappointing. Caesar salad was OK. I ordered a bottle of vine. It was not shown to me for approval and I was not given an opportunity to sample it. The server just filled all the glasses. In addition, the wine was not served at the proper temperature. White wine should have a nice chill. Food: The veal was chewy and served with the thinest slice of eggplant I've ever seen. The menu did say a thin slice of eggplant but you could read a newspaper through a slice. The lasagna was less than palatable and a huge disappointment. We had never seen anything like it. The lasagna was hardly touched because it looked unappealing and was only tasted because it had an odd flavor and was not very good. A complaint about the lasagna was made and the server just stepped away. My suggestion - walk right by this place there are a number of other Italian restaurants in the vicinity. Rustico is as close to a fine dining experience in Tuscany as you can find in the United States. Nino, the owner and executive chef, is a third generation restauranteur from Capri. His recipes are mostly those of his "Nonna." The food is "to die for good." In Old World fashion, Nino buts fresh provisions every day. If they don't have what he wants or, if an ingredient doesn't look good, he doesn't buy it - even if that means that a particular dish won't be on the menu that night. His fish dishes are excellent - always fresh and flavorful. The veal is always tender and fresh and the pasta always perfectly cooked. There is always a fresh game item on the menu. It is always worth trying. The wine list (almost exclusively Italian) is broad and deep, and Nino's suggestions always spot on. The restaurant is small but not cramped. Interesting place, a little dark but I liked the little table lights. nice music to accompany your meal. The host and staff were wonderful; pleasant, attentive and terrific. Now the food...WOW just wow. We had the handmade pasta ( yum!), meatballs ( tender and flavorful) veal cooked perfectly and the tiramisu was one of the best I've ever had. Homemade limoncello was very tasty. We will definitely be back!! Do be aware parking can be an issue, but there is a public parking lot further down the road ( within walking distance). read more

A small Italian restaurant in Lake Worth. It's pretty quaint so I don't know how large of parties they can accommodate for. Better for a more intimate dinner. Came here with the family and enjoyed everything we ordered, although we did have a strange experience. The waiter accidentally brought an incorrect entree out for my brother in law. Instead of immediately replacing it with what he originally ordered, our waiter insisted for him to keep the mistake saying he'll enjoy it more. Us being polite obliged awkwardly. I then thought his original order would come out shortly thereafter, but no, they never fixed their mistake, and also charged us for it. This didn't sit right with us, so we haven't returned. This was the best and most authentic Italian food I've had since my trip to Italy. The restaurant only has about 10 tables which helps maintain an intimate dining experience for everyone around. This was also the first time in years I've ordered something from the restaurants specials instead of the regular menu, and to add to that it was actually difficult deciding which dish I wanted because they all sounded so amazing. We ate here (or tried to) tonight. Party of 6. Seated at a nice table and prompt service. Unfortunately, 5 meals were terrible. Two had the lasagna special that was basically inedible. Weird undertaste, maybe the boar? Loaded with sauce and cheese so the consistency was soupy. Neither person ate more than two bites. Another had veal saltimbocca with eggplant and another had bolognese. Both meals went back with more than half remaining on the plates The last disaster was a pasta Alfredo. Never had so many bad meals in one seating. Waiter arrived with the wine bottle opened and proceeded to pour without even offering the bottle for inspection, nor the standard initial taste. Only bright spot: Bread was very good. Despite mentioning to the server that the lasagna was inedible, and that most of the meals went back to the kitchen with the plates almost untouched, no management came by much less offered to take anything off the bill. There are many other Italian restaurants in the area. Avoid this one. read more

An amazing meal ! A special celebration! The pear purses were delicious, a different sauce then I am used to with them but deliciousness nevertheless. Pappardelle with wild boar ragu. Good and hearty with some amazing mushrooms Rigatoni with veal bolognese was probably my favorite! Orichette with broccoli rabe and some really good sausage. Portions are huge. We have more than at the enough for leftovers tomorrow. Definitely recommend everything we tried tonight. Will go back and try other dishes in the future read more

Super nice place and I was so excited sitting down as it has a really relaxing date nite vibe. My GF and I took the managers recommendation and order the sausage and peppers appetizer and while it looked incredibly appetizing, much of it was cold and clearly just microwaved. We asked them to take it back and reheat it because it was decent and then, sadly, I made the mistake to go with the other special with meatballs and pasta after hearing our waiter share how amazing the meatballs were and how they were his favorite over the bolognese. People, I must tell you, worst pasta dish I have ever had in a sit down place. The meatballs were not the small little ones explained to me but two massive balls of unseasoned meat and the sauce had no taste. The dish was a mixture of scalding hot, luke warm and cold noodles. Also clearly microwaved and not even mixed up. I tried to get through it because my girlfriend had a rough day but I finally gave up and tossed in the towel after a few nibbles. She took a few bites and couldn't believe that was considered a meatball. Now, I really was excited for this place and we started great but the microwaved, awful food was just astounding. The lobster ravioli was $42.50 which matches really amazing restaurant pasta dish prices and was mediocre. Walking out with a $100 bill and two not edible dishes. Best part, the waiter/manager hasn't come back to apologize or anything. Disappeared the moment he knew I was upset and the poor bus-person has been the one closing our check. The service was provided by a small staff -- one of the owners and a server -- but they managed to take care of a bustling crowd without too much trouble (although there was a bit of a delay between our apps and main courses). A pick and nit: The bottle of wine that we ordered was brought to our table already uncorked, which I really do not like. We thought it was time to go back. Unfortunately, tonight's experience was a big disappointment. We were seated in a back corner. The waiter greeted us and asked us if we'd like to hear the specials. We got them before we even had a chance to look at the menu. He was very hard to understand. When my girlfriend asked about a particular type of salad, he just pointed to the menu. He said here are the salads. He didn't understand her question, either. We ordered drinks. Then another server came by and took our food order. Our appetizer came out. They had nicely split it in the kitchen. My husband and I shared their prosciutto and melon. It was good. Our friends didn't have an appetizer. It then took a very long time to get our entrees. Over a half hour. No one ever came to give us a heads up or anything. We had to ask for drink refills, too. When we finally got our entrees, they had just turned down the lights. We had to ask someone to light the candle on our table as it was very dark and we couldn't see our food. Our meals were very good. I had their clams with linguine. There were only 6 tiny clams on the plate of al dente linguine, but I liked it. My husband's fettuccini bolognese was good. My friend's husband had veal caprese, but it looked like they gave him veal Parmesan. My friend's veal Milanese was a flattened breaded chop topped with salad. She said it was good. She asked for some salad dressing as the greens were dry. Meanwhile right behind me, they dropped and shattered a plate. It careened off my leg under the table. Later on someone dropped some silverware which also bounced on the floor and hit my leg under the table. No one even acknowledged this. Or apologized. Right after we received our entrees, another waiter came by with our bill. He asked if we'd wanted the check right away. We said no. Are they trying to rush us from the table? No one came by to clear the plates off the table or ask if we wanted coffee or dessert or an after dinner drink. We saw a guy go by with a sample dessert tray to another table, so we flagged him down and made him stop at our table and describe the desserts. We ordered two choices to share. We asked for the chocolate cake to have a candle in it (we'd told the restaurant when we made reservations it was a bday celebration). They did bring a lit candle at our request and sang happy birthday. We had to find someone to bring us another fork so I could get a taste of the desserts. They still never asked about coffee. Only after they brought the check did they refill the water (!). The two cake slices we had were a limoncello cake -- light and airy and lemony; the other a rich dense chocolate cake. Both very good, but pricey. Then we sat for quite a while waiting for some to take our payment. No one thanked us for coming or anything. We left quite a bit disappointed.
