Be saying goodbye tonight to the rusty ax? I was the first review of the business and now after several years, we understand that tonight is the last night of their operation. Nobody really knows if they've been sold or will continue. I must say that the staff and the BUSINESS have always been great for us and they're truly leaving. We will miss them. JOE is the centerpiece of the operation and we will be sad if he cannot continue on with some other company. Good luck everyone.

Spent the afternoon at Blues and Brews and really enjoyed the live music, great weather, friendly staff and great band! The pineywoods lager was my favorite beer but the Hazy was a close second

Was driving through Lufkin and needed a good and longer stop so saw good reviews for this place and gave it a chance. My husband had the wagyu burger and I had the chorizo pizza with the house white wine and all were outstanding!! Also highly recommend the pretzel and beer cheese - it was cooked to perfection! The place had a good warm buzz about the place and the decor was perfect of a great upscale brewery! Our waitress was very sweet and attentive as well as knowledgeable when we had questions about allergies. This place lived up to its high rating - highly recommend!

We stayed in Lukfin for two nights and we ate here both nights. Best butternut squash soup I've ever had, and I love butternut squash soup and order it a lot! Beer was good, pizza was solid, service was fantastic both nights, and dog friendly patio. HIGHLY recommend you drop by this place!

Rusty Axe Brewing Company is a must-visit. It's that rare gem where fine dining finesse meets casual comfort. The wagyu burger was melt-in-your-mouth perfection. The bison burger brought bold and earthy flavor. The goat cheese salad was a refreshing balance--creamy tang against crisp greens, a palate cleanser that still felt decadent. And the soft pretzel with beer cheese and honey mustard dip? Absolute chef's kiss. Warm, pillowy pretzel paired with dips that hit both savory and sweet notes--it's the kind of starter you'll dream about later. Service elevated the experience. T was attentive, friendly, and clearly passionate about making sure guests felt taken care of. Pair that with the great music and lively atmosphere, and you've got the recipe for a perfect night out. 10/10 recommend for anyone chasing flavor, fun, and a little foodie magic.

Food - excellent. Texas Wagyu Burger - great. The sauce is super special. Texas Goat Cheese Salad added salmon. Wonderful. Service - above and beyond. We found this little place by accident. It's not so little. The ambience is great. Highly recommend. Family friendly. Dog friendly. Beer great.

Brewery #384 My…read moreexperience at Copperhead Brewing was a little weird. The place itself has a weird vibe with Life magazine pages all over the walls. I first thought it was wallpaper made to look like Life magazine pages, but some pages seemed to be peeling. I don't mind reading hemorrhoid ads from the 60's while drinking my beer per se, just an observation. The furniture was mismatched like estate sale items picked up from people who wanted to think they were high class in the 1960's. You could probably still smell Lucky Stripes every time you sat on the seat cushions. There was no music playing and there were only 6 or 7 (don't you dare do that 6-7 thing with your hands while reading this!) other people inside. So, I had to listen to this pretentious group talking about opera, the child welfare system and other topics while their noses were up and pinkies were out. There was an older guy on the opposite end of the room that seemed to be loudly mocking them. He thanked me for coming as I was leaving.... was he the owner? LOL. I ordered my standard flight from a very nice lady that seemed to be new. I got 2 IPA's (Mongoose Slayer and Striker IPA) that were solid, a Black Venom stout that was ok and a Belgian Quad (Medusa) that I wasn't fond of. There are no food options, but I assume there are food trucks from time to time. The outdoor area has a few games and tables and a more normal atmosphere. If they had some music to drown out Lilith and Frasier, I'd go back and give them a try.

Trying to find out if their food cart was still there bc that's like the best part of their brewery. They had pretty decent fish n chips, pizza and sides that complemented their beer selection.

My friends and I spent the day on the lake and were looking for spots to hang out after. I've had…read morethis place on my radar for awhile as I am a huge fan of visiting breweries everywhere I go. Come to find out days before our trip that Southern Star has decided to shut down at the end of June. Sad to see one of Texas' oldest breweries closing down. I had to get here before they did because their beers are great. It's right off 45 and easy to find tucked away off a side road. The grounds are beautiful as well as the building itself. The inside taproom isn't large but the building itself is so I'm wondering they have more hangout spaces. They also have a nice deck where a lot of people were hanging out. Customer service was great. Most everyone in our crew got a flight so we could try a few things. Prices here are excellent and won't break the bank. That's what I love most about breweries. I went with the Strawberry Blonde, Southern Brunch (citrus shandy), Texas Lager, and Pit Stop (cherry cider). I really enjoyed them all especially the Southern Brunch. My friends ordered some apps for the table such as fried pickles, fried mushrooms and waffle fries. They came out piping hot and were all tasty. I saw some pizzas leaving the kitchen and they looked excellent. They also had deals on whole cases of beer for 20 bucks. Killer deal that my friend took advantage of. Sad to see this place is closing. Great breweries are a dying breed from what I have read. If these places weren't so far I would support them more. I wish everyone in the company well and hopefully see them come back in the future.

Brewery #386 This…read morewas my 5th and final brewery of the day (no worries, I spaced them out, so my senses were still intact.....I think). Southern Space was down a tree lined road kind of in the woods in a very nice space. I didn't get to see what the outside area was like (If there was one) but I did see they had a large front porch to hang out at. We got here around 8 or 9 pm and I ordered my usual flight. The place was happening; country music was playing which is not to my taste but at least it wasn't quiet. My flight consisted of a Bombshell Blonde, a Bombshell Hefeweizen, Bombshell Smash IPA, and a Valkyrie (DIPA). Why isn't this place just called Bombshell brewing? Anyway. The beers were all decent but nothing that wow'd me. If I had to pick a favorite, it would probably have been the Hefe. They had a kitchen onsite serving up burgers, pizzas and all the fried apps that places usually do. Unfortunately, we had already eaten so I can't really report on that.
