Pelican Point would've gotten 5 stars from me if it weren't for the beginning of my visit tonight. Working in the foodservice industry, this kind of thing really breaks my heart. A group of two of my friends and I went in tonight and were seated in a server's section (we later learned her name was Jenna), but she refused to take our table. We overheard her conversation with another server about not wanting to serve us. We were instead seated with Jennifer and had an AMAZING experience. Jennifer was attentive, kind, and made our experience worthwhile. The food was GREAT. We got 3lbs of regular crawfish and a kid's pizza. Food was good. But value for the price is lacking. We had the boudin eggrolls for appetizer and the bayou pie for entree. The bayou pie is supposed to have shrimp etoufee, mozzarella, green onion. Decor is very NOLA casual. Booths are very uncomfortable. We enjoyed the Cajun music. Happy Hour is from 4-6. The Fried Pickles were made with Panko bread which over powered the pickles. I had the Seafood Gumbo with rice on the side. I love salt, but the gumbo was over salted. That said, it had lots of shrimp and a taste of crab meat. The roux was dark and thin just like I like it. The Caesar Salad was tasty and the Fish Tacos were great. Our waitress was very attentive and the service was timely. We will look forward to going back. read more

I want to start by saying, I've never actually left a bad review before, at least not that I can remember, but this place was not good. Started off not being able to see anything because the lighting was so minimal, it was hard to read the menu. Our server was also, not good. Can't remember his name cause I only saw him once to take our order, then another to bring the check. He sort of just stood there until we started talking to him. No "hi, how can I help you?" Or anything. We ordered the boudin egg rolls as an appetizer, those were really delicious, but they took FOREVER to come out. For an entree we ordered fried shrimp w/fries and I got a bowl of what was suppose to be etouffee. Was definitely not etouffee. I'm not sure what it was, but it tasted like a packaged brown gravy. It was not good and there might have been 3 crawfish in it. I hope they go somewhere to see what etouffee is supposed to be like, because there is no way the chef had ever had real etouffee. Or even commercial etouffee like you would get from a chain restaurant. It was not good all the way around. The shrimp could have been good except it was so damn cold I couldn't stand it. The fries were also cold and over cooked. If I could help these people improve anything, I would say, get the service trained better, better timing and go somewhere and have etouffee so you can understand that what you serve is definitely, NOT that. read more

Initially I liked the atmosphere of this restaurant it is clean and new and the waiters were all very lovely. The wait time was over an hour, but they were very busy. The reason why I give such a low rating is because of the overall flavor of my food. The potatoes I had were good, they could have used more flavor but they were cheesy. The rice was very flavorless as well. The fish I had was very disappointing. The middle was soggy and flavorless the fish was very fishy tasting and the gravy tasted flavorless as well with no Cajun spice, didn't taste like it had salt or pepper hardly. The burger was alright, not what you'd expect from a fancy restaurant, maybe a bit better then a McDonald's hamburger. This was a first time visit for us. Not too impressed by the greeting when first entering the restaurant. We're the ones who said 'hello' first to the two young ladies doing the seating....could do a little improvement in that department. We were greeted promptly by our waitress, Holly T, got our drink order and answered our questions before we ordered....she was great!! Didn't have to wait that long for our food. We ordered the redfish plate and red snapper plate both with sides. Cajun food at its best!! The atmosphere had a nice relaxing feel.
