Bow Street does it again! I seem to have an uncanny ability to find tastings - and when I thought I…read morewas making a quick stop to get two avocados there was a tasting happening! It was great - the woman from the distributor was perfect. What made it extra memorable was a calligrapher who added messages to each bottle purchased. So yes, instead of 2$ for avocados I have a bottle of 10 year old Basil Hayden bourbon & bottle of tequila aged in a bourbon barrel.

This rating is specific to the Deli which I've NEVER had a good experience with. Only reason we…read morereturn is for Boars Head meats which can't be found anywhere else. For starters, they won't permit you to pre-order over the phone and direct you to the app, which also die NOT have an option to order deli meats. When you arrive at the deli, there are typically 4-6 employees standing behind the counter and not one of them will bother to acknowledge your presence. Certainly never any niceties. Instead, you'll find them shooting the shit tucked in the corner snacking on deli meats and cheeses. After multiple minutes waiting, One will come and ask if you've been helped because it's not obvious enough that I'm standing there alone, staring at them and no one has lifted a finger. This deli has to be the penalty box for Bow St workers because they all act like they're in a cage waiting to be let out and want absolutely NOTHING to do with patrons. They'll literally let meat roll off the slicer into a bag that ultimately falls apart when trying to remove a slice. Today, I got home to find a half pound of turkey ends. These guys clearly intentionally try to ruin days. Owners, PAY ATTENTION. This is on YOU.

Went on adventure today to pick up some Jameson Black Barrel a favorite of hubby and I. Parking was…read moreeasy, in front on Forest Avenue or in adjacent parking lot. Entrance is on Forest and is clearly marked. You walk in and there is sooo much to see! Cue the candy store memories as a child. I quickly lifted my jaw and stepped to the side and started taking pictures. This store is nicely set up with wood, glass, and some brass accents for a nice look. They truly have a VAST selection of all spirits offered. Some items, that are rare, or higher priced are locked in glass cases. All the information you need is right there in the open. There were two clerks working the front. When no one was waiting to check out, they walked the floor looking in on all to see if we had any questions. Saw one man go to counter and ask questions, the clerk was friendly and knowledgeable about the offerings he was looking for. I found my Jameson with a few variations to choose from. Cask-mates stout is a favorite but not always available. Black label was on the shelf with two sizes to choose from. Now for a beverage for a holiday gathering. Looking for something on the berry side but not loaded with sugar. They had a huge of beers, seltzers, ales, and ciders to choose from. Wasn't feeling the seltzers which I do enjoy, today I was feeling a cider. I chose the BRLO Berlin Cider "Dark and Wild" mixed berries. Then an Ale caught my eye in a tall off white bottle with a swivel cork top. Delirium Red; Belgian ale with cherry and elderberry!! Yes please! They have other flavors too. Checking out was easy. A few registers with last minute adds for review. Best one; they had an Advent calendar of Beers and Ales genius! If you are looking for a special gift, a tried and true, or up for an adventure; head to Bow Street beverage on Forest Ave. in Portland, minutes from 295 too!

This is my go to store in Greater Portland for my alcohol. Actually, if we're being totally honest,…read moreit's part of my weekly grocery shop. I always end here before heading home! Why do I like it? + It's really clean. + The staff is knowledgeable to an extent and usually pretty forthright when they don't know something (although, over the past year I've been told a few times they "don't carry" a particular brand when I had literally purchased said brand a week ago - actually, it just happened today. I asked about a specific thing, I was told "we've been out of that for months", only I bought two bottles of it just last week, and my partner would end up going back the next night and getting a few more bottles. Sooooooo?); they've also been very willing to check with distributors for something specific when asked! + They do tasting events and in-store sampling (check their online schedule FMI). + The prices are competitive to other places. + They have parking. + They don't linger when they see you spending an hour standing in the whiskey section combing through reviews online to find your new favorite bottle, AND ALSO... + They will talk to you about whiskey if you ask/want the help/they've got the time. + They don't judge you (at least not externally) for your horrible taste. + The staff is really good at time management. Is that a strange observation? Sometimes it gets REALLY BUSY here. It has seemed to me they drop what they're doing stocking/cleaning/inventorying and get over to the cash registers ASAP to keep the queue moving. I've come here just for a single can of diet Gosling's ginger beer, I've come here to restock my home bar entirely, I've come here to be one of those fancy people who gets something from the locked glass cabinet. With that... Dear Bow Street in Portland, Thanks for always having GlenX available! And thanks for carrying Edinburgh Gin (Seaside), it's my fave! Please get more Lagavulin. I won't ask about Weller anymore. Your Suntory Whisky rec is your best so far.

Good Afternoon to whomever this concerns, I want to start…read moreoff with addressing that I was inside this store with my Boyfriend to grab something for our date night tonight so we were in a wonderful cheerful mood. When we entered the liquor store it was all "Hi, how are you?" greats service with that. When we got to the register the Lady had scanned our items proceeded to tell us the payment then turned looked at me asked me my age, looked at my Boyfriend asked him his age as he I was answering her back then proceeded to take my Boyfriends License which stated his date of birth which is 6/4/1996 puts him at 29 years of age. She then looks back at me and tells me how if I don't have my ID or License I shouldn't even be inside the store. She disrespected me at an embarrassing extend to the point EVERYONE inside was staring at us thinking we were two under age children when that WAS NOT THE CASE. I never got an apology but instead even after walking to the parking lot in front of Marshalls to grab my vehicle & my License to show this lady that my date of birth is in fact 10/19/1997 which puts me at age 28, She took my License & asked me if the birthdate on the License was correct. To me this is a form of disrespect that I should've gotten some kind of apology from especially with how she addressed the situation. I'm more making this report and I will continue to make them because this lady honestly ruined my day as stupid as that sounds. I absolutely LOVE going into this liquor store because it's usually the best experience when you go in but today this older cashier really made me feel pretty low inside and out. Not only that but why is a grown adult going to tell another grown adult that she shouldn't even be inside the liquor store if I didn't have my License even though your literally letting parents walk inside your store with their older children and letting them buy liquor but yet because you had some assumption that I was "under age" you embarrassed me and had everybody there thinking I actually was under age when that wasn't the case and yet proceed to disrespect me. Needless to say, Don't disrespect somebody if it's not needed because truthfully you could've prevented the entire situation by continuing with grabbing the money because you never asked for any ID's until you looked over at me and for some reason you thought otherwise. I battle depression daily and the one day I'm okay to be in public & have a relaxing day to go shopping I'm disrespected which for me it makes me feel like I'm the problem so I tend to stay inside because I'm trying to get used to coping with it so don't judge a book by its cover so to speak and have a blessed day. The lady was just getting onto her register but I didn't catch her name.

I asked the old dude pushing a hand truck if he knew where the moonshine was, and Beth had to intervene and snapped , there's no apple moonshine, so I asked her what isle the tequila was and she said in the nastiest possible way she could to FOLLOW THE SIGNS. which after having a 3 hour surgery for a detached retina I only have limited vision, in one eye. I wandered off in the wrong direction wondering why the aisles lacked numbers, and Beth performed a sneak attack on me in a complete ambush and screaming at the top of her lungs at me to follow the SIGNS. She was hostile and combative. I WILL NEVER UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES RETURN TO THE ROCHESTER LIQUOR STORE, AGAIN. I'M TRAUMATIZED BY BETH. SHE's A BULLY ESPECIALLY TO SENIOR A CITIZEN WHO'S VISION IS COMPROMISED!!! FIRE HER !!!
