Still a fun place to come for ice cream. They have non-dairy items in case dairy doesn't work for you. I had the lemon bar crunch sundae. The ice cream was smooth and tasty. I'm very surprised Rusty's only has a few reviews. This spot is incredible! The atmosphere is on point! It is a 80's and 90's baby dream come true. Nostalgic as hell!! Not only was the ice cream delicious, but the decor was just as great. All of the tables feature something Iconic from THE best generation. They have Drew chillin' on the wall, and a jukebox with all of the original bangers. Check out that old school TV playing MTV music videos. We spent almost 2 hours looking at everything and swapping stories with an employee. Turns out it was Rusty himself! Great guy! I definitely recommend this spot. read more

I came here for two reasons: 1) They have dairy free/vegan ice cream in at least four flavors, 2) The atmosphere...because let's face it....I am an 80s kid. I was not disappointed. It literally has the the most creative interior of an ice cream shop in Fort Wayne. The tables have a picture of an 80's band or singer (i.e. Madonna, M.J, Prince, GNR, INXS, etc) with a good blurb about that particular singer/band. The walls are filled with movie memorabilia. Rock videos are playing on the TV. I looked at all of the decor while I was eating my ice cream and I did not get to see everything so that's another reason to go back. The service was really good. Their menu is vast. I loved my dairy free vanilla ice cream sprinkled with Oreos. I heard about this place for a while, but couldn't find it. Simply put, it's in White Swan Plaza on Lima Road (which I wish was in the radio advertisements and reviews because I could've found it month's sooner.) You can't see it from the road, but there's a small sign with Pee-wee Herman standing next to it beside the road. read more

One thing I know for sure about Rusty's is that I *love* the decorations and the atmosphere! There's always something to admire. For instance, I can't stop checking out the jukebox! Also, the customer service here is wonderful. The employees are always so welcoming and upbeat! I noticed that all customers had smiles on their faces coming in and also on their way out. There was a lot to choose from on the menu. I usually have a hard time picking one because I want them all. This time around, I got one of the sundaes, and it costed around $6. It was really cute that the sundae came with a color changing spoon. The sundae had a generous amount of mix-ins and a dollop of whipped cream on top. The ice cream and mix-ins went well together in this sundae, and it was pretty tasty overall. It was quite sweet though, so I had a hard time finishing the entire cup in one sitting. read more

Rusty's Ice Cream truck is located in our neighborhood and I've always dug his retro vibe and old school ice cream snacks. I was so excited to see he was able to open his own store front. We waited a few weeks until we gave it a go. We went on a chilly Friday evening on May 7th. The place was hoping and the 80s vibe pops you right in the face the second you walk in. :) The ice cream options were plentiful, let alone tasty. Service was as quick as possible given the orders were non-stop. Unfortunately the soft serve machine went out of order right before one in our party was to get her treat. The Manager jumped into action and offered any customer their money back or to order a different item. We opted for our money back. Not only was he apologetic, he gave us a credit for our next visit on top of giving back our money. Not only did we enjoy our ice cream (except the soft serve), we were treated more than fairly. We'll be back to support them based on their kindness and customer service alone. Put on your Atari t-shirt and checkered Vans and give Rusty's a go! The jukebox rocks as well. read more

Went again. I ordered the same thing to update my review. I'm pleased to say the experience was a lot different this time! This time the rocky road had 1/2 an Almond. I informed the staff and I was informed "We're sorry to hear that - sometimes you get more sometimes you get less" Which honestly good response but it contradicts the owners response. The ice cream tasted EXPIRED this time so not sour anymore. Oh and the last price of 15 has been updated and the new price is 17.04. Same order lol. Will not be going back and enjoy the $30 gifted to your business. TLDR; You will waste your money at this place NASTY flavor poor customer service. read more

Who doesn't like the 80s? Cute shop but on the pricey side. I'm all about supporting local businesses that's why I've returned multiple times despite the pricing. However the last will be my last. I ordered a double scoop but was given what looked like a single scoop. I was assisted by two young kids - which I'm sure of no fault of theirs because they're just doing what they're told. But I was so thrown off by my "double scoop" that I had to ask them if they had made a mistake, but they said no. They said the scoops are measured by weight? I walked away confused as I've never seen or heard of any ice cream shop measuring by weight before? I compared my double scoop to both of my kids' double scoop and it definitely still didn't seem right to me - I was really bothered by it so decided I was just going to get a refund on mine. By this time I noticed the owner (recognized him from his social media) was present and talking to his employees. I waited patiently for someone to help me. I can tell that both employees were nervous to help the "lady with the small double scoop" but the boy finally made his way. I explained to him why I wanted my refund. He looked back at the girl and his boss not knowing what to do. His boss, the owner of the shop, I'm sure overheard the whole thing - pretended not to acknowledge the entire incident. Since the owner decided to look away, his other employee- a young girl walked over to help me with my refund. I walked back to my table shocked as to what just happened. I looked around and saw the owner walking around the shop talking to the other customers and deliberately keeping his distance from us. This is the exact moment when I thought to myself- wow, what a coward. As a business owner, you would think when you witness any sort of incident, you would at the least want to talk to the customer to rectify or at the least explain whatever the situation is. Instead he took the high road and left his teenage employees to fend for themselves. It was pretty crazy. It's been over a week and I'm still shocked at the lack of concern by the owner. I mean this is his shop! He witnessed the incident and chose to ignore it and pretty much said 'you're on your own' to his teenage employees!?! Crazy... oh well. It is what it is I guess. read more

This is such a fun atmosphere with fun flavors of ice cream. Rusty came and introduced himself, then asked if he could join us. It was great conversation and fun. The employees were knowledgeable and offered great suggestions for our 1st time visit. As an adult, I still enjoyed the color changing spoons.
