Marilyn, a young member of the family that owns the shop, fixed the strap in a few minutes and asked only $5 for her work, but I gave her $10. After she finished with the watchband she advised me about a problem with steel mesh watchbands and we had a pleasant conversation on other topics, as her family is from the Dominican Republic, and I had worked there as well as elsewhere in Latin America. Although the shop is small and has a small selection, it has catalogs from which one can order a larger range of items. It also does minor watch repairs and, aside from that, is a friendly and worthy Latino and first generation American enterprise deserving of our support.
