Another 5 star review for his local bike store in my recent visit. It was a Sunday afternoon and I just finished cycling a good 20 miles in BRP. I was still pumped up and when I got home I ask my young daughter to go with me and I will get her a new bike. Well, the truth is the STAR check just arrived and migh as well spend it for her bike and the rest invest in the market. She had already outgrown her bike and still in the process of pedaling it correctly so I figure might as well get her a new one. We got to Danny's Cycles and it was a busy day. Angelo greeted and helped us out in choosing the right bike size for my ten-ager daughter. My daughter is a sweet girl and she chose the light blue color and said so next time her little brother can use it. Angelo rolled in the bike to the mechanic nook and ringed my bill. After a good 20 minutes the bike was ready and we were happy with their service. Angelo gave us all safety tips and remind us of the complimentary check up/tune up within 12 months. I had an overall pleasant experience with Danny's Cycles. I serviced two of my bikes there and it cost nearly $400. For one of my bikes, the tires kept on deflating on their own even though I paid extra to have it repaired specifically. I had to go back several times for them to fix it properly. They did accommodate me every time. On the third time going back, someone tried to charge me for servicing the mistake, so we had to go through a whole explanation to waive the charge. I've had mixed experiences. I've mostly gone there for parts and minor repairs, and it's been OK. However, when I went to replace my old bicycle, my experience was not good. On a previous visit, I had picked out the bicycle I wanted (Verve 2 step-through - I'm getting old!), and this time I just wanted to test drive and buy it. The sales person was annoyingly patronizing, asked if I had ever driven a bicycle with gears, and when I said I had (50 years worth, BTW), he proceded to instruct me as if I had said no. (I basically ignored him.) I got the impression that he was dismissing my experience because I was a woman (or maybe not a Tour-de-France wannabe.) A (female) friend told me she bought a bicycle from a Danny's and had all kinds of problems, which the shop blamed on her; I now can guess why. Bottom line: I will not recommend Danny's to any women I know. And I definitely will not let that salesperson "help" me again. read more

Not a great experience. One guy was doing amazing and working hard! Others were chatting behind the counter doing nothing. Over charged for a bent front derailer. Shout out to that one guy I did not get your name, you worked hard your coworkers did not. I waited a minimum of 10 minutes to simply pick up my bike in the back the other staff could have grabbed. Great service from local bike shop! After receiving horrible service elsewhere, I went back to my roots, where many of my bikes from childhood were bought, Danny's Cycles on Central Ave. I went there in July 2020 and because of Covid-19, my visit was outside the store, but it was great and I got everything done I went there for. - I asked if they would tune up my older road bike since another shop (see other review) would not. - They said would happily do so and do older bikes all the time - Then they gave my bike a quick check up for FREE and said it was good to go! I knew I was not in Dobbs Ferry anymore! - I needed to buy a water bottle with Velcro attachment. The associate helped me until I found what I needed. He was patient, knowledgeable, kind and friendly. He made many trips back and forth bringing different models out for me to look at. I kept apologizing that it was a lot of trouble for such a small purchase and he kept telling me, "No problem, don't worry about it. You're fine!" - This is what service should be like - Not like that sh*t show in Dobbs Ferry. - I plan to go back and buy an expensive bike rack to show my gratitude. I recently purchased a metro bicycle from Danny's Cycles this summer. It is great quality but you can get these bikes from other distributors too. What makes Danny's Cycles preferable is that their doors are always open for helpful mechanical assistance with the bikes. When the gears broke on my bike, I walked into to Danny's Cycles and was greeting with helping hands and was able to walk out of their within ten minutes of reporting the problem (free of charge too)! read more

I don't really like Danny's, or recommend this company. There are more knowledgeable places to go in the area. I've been here a few times. Each time, they were not able to answer my cycling questions. Their sales associates and manager knew less about the bike shoes I was asking about than I did. When beginning my triathlon bike shoe search I called Danny's, and I asked if they had triathlon bike shoes. They informed me that they did, and that they had my size in stock. I have an average shoe size, so I always call ahead and make sure a place has my size before driving there. I asked them to hold them for me with my name, and the representative who I spoke with on the phone informed me that they would. When I drove to the store and asked if I could see the triathlon shoes they had on hold for me, they informed me they didn't even carry triathlon shoes. I was shocked considering I called them, spoke to someone in the store and they told me they had them. I would've never driven here if this was the case. I spoke to the first sales associate when I went into the store who wasn't able to assist me. Then, they asked another associate to come out to help me. Then the manager came out as well - none of them could help me with the bike shoes they told me that they had in stock and on hold for me. I find this extremely unprofessional. Hence, I wouldn't really come here for a bike or new gear. Note: I came here when I began triathlon in 2011 which is when my visit to Danny's in Scarsdale was regarding this incident, and I was single at the time - with regard to the comment below. Went two weeks ago with a flat on a bike that needed a tuning. I was told the bike would be ready in two weeks and the bike was ready in two weeks! Needed a new chain on another bike and that was fixed in 20 minutes. And service with a smile. It is unfortunate that there are few bikes for sale but in the big scheme of things that is the least of our problems. I went Danny cycles yesterday with my 11 yr old son to get his bike tune up . Alex serviced us and was excellent from start to finish. He was very knowledgeable and took his time with my sons bike. He also explained little things to for me to look out for as far as maintenance for the bike. He helped with my son Bike seat, tires and kick stand and he did not charge us a dime. Danny's is probably your best bet if you are in Westchester and looking for a bike that fits your size/style. Jaimin S. and I had a positive experience purchasing hybrid bikes here. Joey asked us what we were looking for and helped us pick out a few bikes to try. Through our 2-3 hours at the store, he was never pushy and never rushed us, which I really liked. They have a big lot in the back where they encourage you to try out the bikes. We tested out a few bikes and Joey happily adjusted any seats, etc. if we asked. Danny's has a few locations, but I believe this location is one of the few that carries the Specialized brand of bikes. This place is $$$$, but you get what you pay for. read more

I have bought a few bikes, helmets and have had my bikes serviced here. They always have given great service and advice, even in the midst of this pandemic. I recently bought a bike for my daughter and noticed that the brake cable was frayed at the connection to the brake hub. I brought the bike back to Danny's and they replaced it with no problem. I have been to a few other bike shops in the area and it was like pulling teeth to get someone to help me with a product. Highly recommend Danny's Bicycle to all in the Westchester area. I recently moved to White Plains a few months ago from the city and a neighbor recommended I bring my bike here for a tune-up. Upon arrival I was greeted by the staff at the front of the store. Everyone seemed very nice and friendly, there is tons of inventory and different kinds of bikes for all types of riders. What I appreciated the most was the honesty and expertise of the staff. They aren't there to rip you off, they really know bikes, care about bikes, and care about their customers. I could tell that the customers in the store too were loyal and repeat visitors. I had a really great experience working with Charlie who helped me out with my very old, what I call vintage 1999 mountain bike. Big thank you. Although I've done spin classes for years, it's been more than awhile since I was on a bike. Joey was great. I let him know what I was looking for and the kind of "riding" I was doing in classes. He brought out a bike I asked to look at. Nah, wasn't getting the kind of ride I wanted. He then brought out another bike. After riding it for a bit an getting my mojo back, it was perfect! OK. Here's the bottom line, Danny's is a great bike store, under normal circumstances. In Corona, however, I'm giving them a thumbs down. Now, I don't know anything about running a bike store, but I do know a lot about running a small retail store generally. In a period of time which will go down as a "Golden Age of Bike Sales and Service", these guys are totally missing the mark. Lines of people out the door waiting for sales and service and these guys are closed two days a week? Are you kidding? Hire more staff, have existing staff put in more hours or do both. Lines of people waiting for sales and service and you're open four days a week, for six hours and one day a week for eight, for a total of 32 hours a week. I know guys in unions who work more than that. Are you kidding? Hire more staff, have existing staff put in more hours or do both. The result? Four weeks to get a bicycle tune-up. Obviously it's not their fault inventories are low, so that impacts sales, but for the rest of what they sell or service? This is a joke. Literally, these guys are keeping bankers hours and even bankers don't keep bankers hours anymore. Get with the program guys. Staff up and provide a higher level of service to your customers. I'm buying at least one bike a year from you and often two, not to mention tune ups. Ridiculous. read more

Although I've lived in Larchmont for almost 2 years, I hadn't yet found a good local bike shop -- until I gave Danny's a try. I went in with a problem with my Garmin speed/cadence sensor that I'd been unable to solve and another bike shop I'd gone to previously was unable to solve. Joey and the team went above and beyond to help me. I called to ask if they can help fix my jogging stroller and they said they would be happy to take a look. When I arrived, Joey came out to meet me and help me bring the stroller into the store (I had my sleeping infant son with me so the help was much appreciated!). His team immediately started looking at it while Joey hopped on the phone with the stroller company to find out if a specific part would be needed. Not only were the team able to fix the stroller in about five minutes, the stroller company also offered to send a replacement wheel in case I ever ran into the same issue again. The cost for the fix was incredibly reasonable and Joey helped me put the stroller back in my car. Kind, fast, and efficient service -- not something you come across everyday. I had a good experience buying a hybrid bike at Danny's. From the moment we walked in a couple employees asked if we needed anything and we told them we just wanted to browse first. I had my choice down to two and one of the employees got them both down for me and I took a look. I mentioned I might want to do a triathalon and he said definitely get this one then. I took the men's and women's model out back with me and rood a few loops around the lot on each. I ultimately decided to go with the women's model and couldn't be happier. He offered to see if they had any new ones boxed up in the back that they could put together for me but it turned out the only one in my size/preferred color was the one I just took out. I was fine with that so they gave it a quick tune up and had me on my way with a new bike in 15 min! They didn't push hard on buying accessories etc for the bike. I noticed with a few models I looked at they charged $20-$30 less than the list price on the bike, which was nice. The rest of the store is nice - really seems like a one stop shop where you can buy bikes, accessories, shoes, clothing, and fuel/nutrition. I am sure some of it is cheaper online but it nice to have the option if you are impatient or in a pinch! My bike comes with a lifetime warranty so we'll see how service is when I need to go for tune-ups etc. This location seems pretty busy/popular so I will likely do my service at one of the other less popular locations. read more

Was very disappointed. Stopped by to ask about bike rental and possibly purchase. Signs on the door said "Do not enter" and 'Only 4 customers at a time.' I stood by the door for 5-7 minutes, wasn't acknowledged by anyone who worked there. One customer left with his purchase, held the door open for me. I figured one customer was leaving another could enter. I entered and stood at the door for another 5 minutes. Several staff members looked at me. None gave me as much as a "Hello", "We'll be right with you" or even "Please wait outside, we'll come to get you in a moment." After 5 minutes I left. Was so looking forward to supporting local business. Oh well. read more

While I haven't bought a bike from Danny's, they have been a good source of parts and accessories, particularly for Specialized bikes, which they're a dealer. They also have convenient hours in the evenings. The employees here are really friendly and helpful, too. In the shop, Danny's employees are happy to understand what kind of riding you do, look at your bike and do what they can to get you rolling again. Outside the shop, Danny's has a mobile van that routinely is at Bronx River Parkway Bicycle Sundays helping people out with minor issues on the spot. They're also frequently at events like the WCC Golden Apple, where I saw the van helping out an older gentleman who had crashed by the side of the road shortly before they passed by. Community involvement like that is great! If there were one negative, it's the turnaround time on mechanical repairs due to how busy their shop is. Several times I have been told to leave my bike for a week or more while they worked through their backlog of repairs. I understand there's a queue, but I can't leave or delay the repair on my bike for a week or more. So, if they hired some more mechanics that would be great. read more

I recently purchased a Thule bike rack from Danny's in Scarsdale. They were the only ones around who actually had the rack in stock that I was looking for. I spoke with the salesman Sweet Lou on the phone who promised me someone would help me install it and teach me how to use it. I drove there all the way from LI to pick it up and when I arrived they were slammed busy. Nevertheless Danny and the guys upheld their promise and installed my rack and took the time to show me how to use it. They guys are great. Highly recommend. I had bought my bike at Danny's which includes free tune ups. I recently bought it back to put clipless pedals on which I purchased there and I asked for the tune up. I was told to wait for a technician to review the bike with me. First he told me it needed all new cable, which I knew it didn't. When I said no there are not enough miles on it yet, he then said it needed all new chain and again I said no. It was an obvious up-sell. The bike had been working perfectly when I dropped it off but the first ride after the tune-up the bike will not shift correctly in the higher gears. I'm not sure if I should bring it back or bring it somewhere else. read more
