We also like their indoor store; they have some fresh-grown tomatoes that are tasty and sell some very good locally grown canned and bottled products (try their apple sauce - really yummy). There was a booth and friendly people working there. The field was large. I went the first week it opened and there were plenty of strawberries. The strawberries were so good, almost like candy. It was super fresh; I don't want to buy strawberries from a grocery store anymore! The kids enjoyed picking them and so did I. Definitely worth a visit!

Granted, it is a bit early for the true season of fall, too early for the boots, too early for the flannels, and too early for the leggings. Sometimes you've got to take what you can get. Hogan's Cider Mill is located on freshly cut, beautiful green grass and plenty of it, in the small, rural town of Burlington, Connecticut. If you had no idea Connecticut had a town called Burlington, well Hogan's will be your intro to it. What an absolutely adorable place and so picturesque! The truck with every imaginable sized pumpkin is so cute! Inside you'll find a little cottage store with all sorts of goodies, from local snacks, to candles, wine, hoodies, all of it. You may get your warm apple cider donut here. Upstairs is where you may get your hard apple cider, or just apple cider. There are so many nooks and crannies that are also decorated for fall, where you may enjoy your cider of choice. We brought ours outside. The donut was warm, fresh, soft and so tasty! The cider was cold and apple cidery with a bit of spike. Hogan's Cider Mill is a must visit for anyone. The mini golf was essentially 18 renditions of the same hole with no theme, excitement or variation. Thankfully we went on Friday when it's free which is a nice thing they do. The farm has stands at the Torrington Farmers' Market on Saturdays and at the Collinsville Farmers' Market on Sundays during the season. Recently Jack & I had the opportunity to take a tour of the grounds. The crop looked amazing. My favorite was a visit to the "chicken coop" which was a large room in a barn with an outdoor area. We also purchased fresh cut flowers from her incredible gardens by the bucket then spent the morning of my wedding with my bridesmaids sipping coffee and arranging stems in mason jars for the most perfect centerpieces (and simultaneously created some of my favorite memories of my wedding day in doing so). We are eternally grateful she fit our wedding into her books in a rather short time frame and are still shocked & awed over what she had grown for us every time we look at the photos. They had soap from The Cow's Coop. There were baked goods and of course produce; from watermelons, tomatoes, melons, garlic, onion, corn, and more. The shop was pretty busy; people were in and out. The products were fresh; we did get the tiny baby melon which was alright, it was not sweet at all. I'd probably get the larger one next time. They also setup shop at the Canton Farmers Market every Sunday in the summer. I love supporting small farms so this is a great place to get some fresh produce.

Well, over the years we've seen a lot bigger and just a few smaller. All in all, there were about ten vendors here. Maybe it's too early in the season, so as we go further into the Summer there could be more. There's plenty of room in the school parking lot they're located in. Anyway, you'll see a nice variety of fruit and vegetables (garlic scapes, anyone?), and a lot of baked goods like breads, quiches, pastries, soft pretzels, and granola. We stopped at the Simple Delights bakery and picked up a nice Lemon Blueberry loaf and a Cinnamon Bun.
