This 472 acre farm and brewery is awesome. There is a disc golf course, mountain bike trail, and even an Airbnb cottage. When we went on a Saturday in the summer, they had goats in a fenced in area. The kids and adults enjoyed petting them. There were other barn animals too. They setup a gazebo and some tables outside. There was an outdoor bar and food truck. They also offer their food onsite too. The inside area was also really nice, clean, and cozy. There was a bar and tables as well. The beers I've tried were pretty good too. I usually come here in the summer time, so I was looking forward to experiencing the inside during the winter. The owner had recently redone the inside and it's beautiful. The fresh wood, the fireplace, the high ceilings, and being able to sit on a couch or a high top were just some of the things I loved! Soon they will have two open bars instead of just one. They have a lot of choices for drinks. They also have some food choices. The fries and cheese sauce were really good. It's a perfect place for a date or to meet up with some friends. Norbrook Brewery is my favorite place to enjoy local beers. We have been visiting for over four years and each time doesn't disappoint. As someone who appreciates dark beers there is always a great selection no matter what time of year I make my pilgrimage here. We always try to take advantage of the hiking trails and the frisbee golf course when visiting. The trails are extremely well maintained and not too busy. Colebrook is a beautiful location and the views from the property are breath-taking. We were pleased to be able to enjoy the food from the NFB kitchen for the first time and found the Autumn Harvest Salad packed with ingredients and so delicious. The BBQ chicken pizza was overflowing with flavor and very filling. Both food and beverage orders are made at the bar and visiting early on a Friday evening was such a pleasant and relaxing experience. Five stars because Norbrook was not only on the RV stay program which provided me a quiet night's rest in rural Connecticut, they had a car show going which was super awesome to see and they also have some amazing beer/pizza (and a food truck). I walked through the car show which had a bunch of interesting and very well restored vehicles. Inside the building, music was going but I managed to find the bar and order a beer and a pie. In another dining room, a quiet-ish spot to enjoy this beer and later another while I wrote some Yelp reviews and wound down from a day's driving. Really awesome spot and the "Contractors' Beer" was delicious. As well, a spicy chicken pizza that was bigger than I thought so some of it went back into the fridge for later snacks. Brewery sits on hill giving you a great view of setting sun. The variety of house beer is some of the best I've ever had. An 18 hole Disc Golf course is surrounds the property and is both picturesque and challenging. So firstly, they are dog friendly OUTSIDE. They even have doggy water stations, as well as human water stations, with plenty of room to walk and covered tables in the parking lot for a drink. Overall, it really is a cool location. I mentioned the space for dog walking? There are also barnyard animals penned about (lambs, goats) that you can walk up and say hello to, which is good for small people. There are hiking trails into the woods, and parking in back which may bring you closer to them. L There are game stations which I didn't completely get (frisbees were involved) but had people playing happily. There is room for food trucks, but they also seem to sell chips and such inside. They have indoor and outdoor bars for beer, which is nice for us dog people. There's also an outdoor patio in front with a fire pit. Inside, you have plenty of seating, it's very clean with a wood aesthetic, and they have games available to borrow. The wrap was great - had bacon and avocado on it. The only disappointment was the beer I liked the most was not available in cans or growlers- must be a limited brew. We also got the maple based ale, Goulets Grade A Ale. While very tasty, it was a little sweeter than we were used to for a beer. We were blown away by this gorgeous farm brewery. It sits on 450 acres of walking trails, disc golfing, mountain biking, and winter snowshoeing, and cross-country skiing. In the tasting room you can enjoy a game of darts, play some board games, listen to live music, and of course--- sip some beers. The beer choices are super impressive. I loved the way they represent so many different beer styles and are not overly IPA -centric. Their menu boasted 14 styles - Saison, IPA, DIPA, Rye IPA, NEIPA (for you fruity hazy types), Stout, Barrel-Aged Rye Ale, Kölsch, Porter, Amber Wheat Ale, Brown Ale, American Barleywine, and a Peach Ale. Now once you decide on a beer, you have more choices. How do you want that beer? In a 5oz pour for $2.50, a 13oz pour for $6.00, a 16oz pour for $7.00, in a 16oz Can 4 Pack for $16.00, in a 32oz Crowler To-Go for $12.00, in a 64oz Growler Refill for $22, or in a flight of five? I went with a flight and here were my selections: Hey Now! Tropical Stout (6.7% ABV and 35 IBU), Cog Ale Kölsch (4.7% ABV and 17 IBU), The Wood Turner Amber Wheat Ale (6% ABV with 20 IBU), Big Mouth American Barleywine (8.3% ABV with 55 IBU), and Miss Mary Peach Ale (5.2% ABV with 22 IBU). My clear favorites were the first (Hey Now) and the last (Peach Ale). "Hey Now!" Stout was a jet-black lager with "notes of dried fruits, coffee and a hint of licorice". I can never taste any of the things in those notes, but I really liked this beer. The Miss Mary Peach Ale was the winner in my flight. I definitely tasted the advertised Peach Puree in there, and it was a terrific light and refreshing beer. If you are ever headed up Route 8 to hit the Lee Outlets, set your GPS for Norbrook and enjoy a few hours in a gorgeous setting drinking some great beers. Just be aware they really don't have any food to speak of and as of today, there are no food trucks on premises. read more

Went here to hike and see the Fall foliage. They have a watchtower that allows you to get a nice view of the area, but beware of the steep ladder steps. Afterwards we had a drink and some food. The drinks were good, as was the food. Our group had nachos, pretzels, along with BLT and grilled cheese sandwiches- everything was generous portions. They have a nice outdoor seating area. The only thing odd was the sliding door to get in and out of the brewery that one needs to get used to. Very friendly staff and recommended to visit. read more

Norbrook Farm Brewery is a craft farm brewery that opened in Colebrook, Connecticut in September 2018. It was founded by brothers John and Randy Auclair and head brewer Colin Coan. The Auclairs were originally co-owners of Electric Motion Company in Winsted, until it was purchased by Hubbell Power. With a need to get back to work, John Auclair began thinking about repurposing the foreclosed farmland adjacent to his property. After some friends suggested that the location would make an excellent brewery, the brothers started to set the wheels in motion. They soon partnered with Coan and he quickly became the architect being the project. Coan had experience working at Atlantic Brewing Company in Bar Harbor, Maine, Barrington Brewing in Great Barrington, Massachusetts, and Rip Van Winkle Brewing in Catskill, New York. He envisioned the brewery to be a multi-use destination for craft beer drinkers, hikers, disc golfers and cross-country skiers. The name 'Norbrook' was picked as a portmanteau of Colebrook and the neighboring town Norfolk. Two acres on the farm are used for hop cultivation, while additional hops are grown on another two acres offsite. I first visited Norbrook Farm in August 2019. The property was just beautiful; I loved seeing all of the hop vines growing just a short distance from the brewery itself. The taproom and brewery are housed inside a large building that used to be used for storing farm equipment. It was a really nice space. I ordered a sampler flight of five different beers: Dennis Hill Estate Saison, Mount Pisgah (IPA), Farmhouse One (farmhouse ale), Ol' Man McMullen's Porter, and Scorcha (New England IPA). Everything was pretty good. The saison had some nice hints of coriander and orange peel, the IPA had nice piney notes, and the porter had a nice blend of coffee and dark chocolate flavors. I ended up purchasing a mixed four-pack of the saison, the IPA, the porter, and Cog Ale (a kölsch). I really enjoyed my visit to Norbrook Farm and would like to go back with some of my friends who are also disc golf enthusiasts. Craft beer and disc golf are a great combo! read more

I consider myself a beer snob, and back 5 years or so ago I had really been losing my faith in this whole microbrewery thing. We enjoy long drives in the old convertible in the nice weather, and nothing can be as satisfying as a nice cold beer (OK, maybe two!) after sweating for a few hours driving top down around our scenic back roads. We read somewhere about Norbrook, and back in 2020 as the pandemic was building steam we found ourselves sitting alone at Norbrook's bar with John, the owner. We got the story of the place while enjoying a flight, and I was blown away with the quality of all the beers. John explained they had entered a couple beer competitions at that point, and proudly handed me samples of his award-winning brews. I started to come around to the fact there might just be a future in this microbrewery thing. If a businessman with no background in the beer business can put together a brewery like this, there must be hope. As time goes on we continue to visit new microbreweries during our travels, and it is great to see many have raised their game. However, for me, Norbrook Farms Brewery has set the bar on quality beer that we compare every other microbrewery to. Occasionally I will find a place that has one beer I think is close to or on par with Norbrook, but we have not found one that has multiple outstanding brews like Norbrook! We have been regular customers since that first visit. While I realize we will never get the better part of an hour of John's time again at Norbrook, it is wonderful to see a thriving business every time we go. The miles of trails for walking and bike riding, the disc golf, and the family friendly atmosphere complete with a couple of cornhole setups, food trucks, and new in 2023, they are doing food themselves now. Everything we sampled was tasty! Another cool thing about Norbrook is this place loves dogs. Or, maybe better stated, dog lovers love this place and bring their dogs! Go there on a nice day and you are not going to get out of there without petting several great dogs, always a treat for us as we can't have one ourselves. Plus, these guys will deliver their beer withing a 20 mile radius! So no matter how busy life gets, I can go to the website and order several 4-packs of cans, and the fridge is never without great beer! Top picks for me are the Beckley Furnace Brown Ale, Fordson Cork Irish Stout and Doc Murphy's Irish Ale. When looking for something lighter, the Dennis Hill Estate Saison, Cog Ale and Tight Lines are great picks as well. Then, in the fall you can't go wrong with Norbrook's Marzen entry, their Octoberfest. Try as I might, I can't convice them to make the Octoberfest year round! Hats off to John, his brother Randy (who seems to always be my delivery driver!) and to Colin, the brewmaster extraordinaire. Love your beer, and we look forward to our next visit! read more

There was a singer and a fire pit. All the seating was outdoors there was a big tent and you could also sit by the fire pit. I tried one beer and it was delicious. Love this place. The beer is very good, and in particular I liked the farmhouse saison I tried. They do not serve food. I've heard they are trying to get the town to allow them to have food trucks, but so far it's a no-go. The farm is beautiful with a nice outdoor seating area. They even hired a profession trail building company to build an awesome trail system for mountain biking, cross country skiing, etc. The MTB singletracks are amazing and some of the best around; some flow, some tech with great elevation change for the area. This brewery was awesome! The best part for us was that it was spur of the moment; we noticed the name on billboard that we passed by. Right away I noticed The atmosphere was fantastic, very spacious and modern looking. There's cornhole as well and a nice menu. The beer was solid (the Oktoberfest was top notch, we had no choice but to take a 4 pack home) and we got curly fries with beer cheese.I liked how the beer cheese was on the spicier side as well. We enjoyed a delightful lunch today outside on the patio. A fabulous black & tan complimented the pastrami panini and chips!! Soo very fresh and tasty !! There were a limited number of people. People were wearing masks when they arrived and when they moved about. Our server was wearing a mask and people were spaced apart. We felt very comfortable in this environment and felt they were responsible and considerate. The food and beer were excellent. One of my favorite places to go. Beer is great, I am yet to try something I don't like. Staff is great, the ambiance is amazing, the food trucks are always different and diverse. However the thing that really makes this place stand out are the mountain biking trails. They are the best in the area and maybe even the northeast. Professionally done trails with attention to detail. Simply beautiful. I believe they also allow camping in the parking lot which is absolutely awesome. Such a relieve from the corporate businesses that try to squeeze every last penny from consumers. This place can charge for the biking, disk golf, and camping and yet they don't and that's why they have my love and loyalty. I am not a big beer fan normally however I go here at least 2x a month. They always have new beers on tap. I won't say that I love them all but there are quite a few that I taken home to share, they were that good. The place is on top of a hill with views of the surrounding hills. Walking trails, ( before or after the tasting is great to do) Disc golf (before the tasting, you"ll throw them better) and bike trails (nope, never did the trails, heard they are great ) The main reason I go there is the people, the workers there and the customers always are willing to start up conversations. For a brewery, this is an extra cool place. The beer was cold and delicious -- that alone gets you four stars. Wide selection of brews. I first had some cans from the local packie and was thrilled to get it fresh out of the tap. They have food trucks on the weekend -- we didn't partake, but the folks eating trailer pizza were signing its praises. Also had some live music -- not too loud but fun Irish and American folk songs. Also had corn hole (mandatory to get 5 stars). But the best part is that the brewery also has mountain bike trails and disk golf. The combination of mountain biking and beer is as natural as one gets -- and pushes the brewery to 6 stars. The only downside is that most of the outdoor tables and the tent was in the parking lot -- why when you are surrounded by grass would you set up in the parking lot? But forget this and make you way to Norbrook Brewery -- you will be happy you did. read more
