We had the worse experience with RV Rental Oceanside!! The airstream trailer we paid $500 a night to camp in Carlsbad never worked properly. We had major electrical issues. We called and complained 3 times. The nice guy that droped it off, returned 3 times. First stop was to refill the empty propane tanks on the RV, second time was to replace both batteries, third time to check the fridge. Never the less the electricity inisde never worked, we threw away food and had to sleep in the dark and couldnt use the toilet due to water pump not working w/o electricity. WORSE EXPERIENCE EVER and NEVER received a call back. It ruined our 4th of July, I wasted all my time waiting for the tech and calling for help. read more

First time renter here, first time even driving an RV and everything went smoothly. The RV was pretty & spacious, staff were on call/text to answer any questions we had. There was a smart TV we used and had zero issues with which was great! I was surprised at how comfortable the bed was in our RV, I genuinely slept better in it than in my own bed. The shower pressure wasn't the greatest but that's expected, however the water temp was always hot which is what's really important. We had far more than enough storage in our rig, as well as things like hangers, toilet paper and a couple other essentials. We didn't cook at all in the RV (we didn't bring any cooking utensils) so I can't speak on that really, the only problem we had was the fridge not being able to remain cold at certain intervals. It wasn't that it couldn't get cold, (the freezer got really cold) it was that it wouldn't seem to stay cold if we weren't hooked up somewhere, or had the generator on. I rented a 5th wheeler and had it delivered. I paid over $800 for 3 nights as the tack on a bunch of fees. I had it delivered and when I arrived there was a paper on the table informing me that if the rv was not clean, then a $200 charge would be imposed (and deducted from the $500 security deposit). We had not agreed to that charge and had no choice but to accept it as it was too late to look for another RV. We cleaned the RV before we left. Later, a partial reimbursement of the security deposit was returned as I was charged a cleaning fee. I called the RV salesperson and he told me, "I have to charge you something". I have rented RVs in the past and had always had the security deposit returned in its entirety. I decided to try this company as their RVs looked nice. In reality the RV we received was old and really worn out. If you decide to rent from this company look out for the hidden fees. read more

Overall very happy with our Allegro rental for 10days all the way up to Washington state. Customer service overall was easy. Was able to text Mitch and Kevin for ease of communication, and RV's were clean and overall in great condition. Checking out which ones we wanted was easy, online reservations was easy, so far no hidden charges and everything was up front, we even were able to pick it up a day early to pack and leave first thing the next am. Returning was pretty simple too, but we'll see when the credit card statement comes in. Would definitely rent with them again. Missing one star due to issues with a potentially blown fuse where the stairs stopped working so we had to hop a good drop out of the RV - and with a senior citizen and two kids under two yo made it challenging. We rented with MLG. We were given an RV that was not properly dumped or refilled with water to begin with. We lost water the following day. Our family took showers using the campsite facilities. MLG claimed that we may have left water running. They came out the following day to dump and refill the RV with water. Again, we ran out of water again the next day. This time I made certain that our family was careful with water usage. We only took showers using the campsite facilities. Such a large RV should not lose water that quickly if there were properly filled and dumped. I mentioned this to MLG but never got an answer. I was then charged $62 service fee when it did not resolve the issue. I was also charged an additional $100 cleaning fee. Before we left the RV, we cleaned and swept out the RV. In addition, we took photos on how we left it. I called MLG and mentioned the fee and was received a text message that the RV had to be cleaned. I replied to the text and told them we cleaned it before leaving and took photos. But did not hear back. We will not recommend or be using MLG again. Shady rental company. read more

We just returned yesterday from an eight day trip at Carlsbad state beach,we rented trailer t14 and absolutely loved it. We had the trailer delivered to our campsite prior to arriving (well worth the cost) everything was as it was advertised ,we had one issue with a bad battery which was resolved by Mitch within a couple of hours. Overall the experience was great and we look forward to using rv rentals again in the future. read more

TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE for first time trailer renters, ruined my family's XMAS vacation we'd been planning for months! It should be noted that we are very easy going and understanding people who have never written a bad review or felt the need to. Day 1 Dec.23rd Greg drops off trailer a little bit after 2pm check-in. Even though I requested an orientation of the trailer a few times, I never received a call from anyone saying that it was being dropped off; I just happened to see him drive in and followed him to our campsite. Greg then gave a vague orientation about how the trailer works, he forgot to plug in some lights in the master bedroom cabin and he didn't show me how to read the entire battery/tank meter board. And he definitely did not tell me to check gray water levels to make sure we don't overflow the tank into the bathtub by using all the freshwater (more on that below). The 1st generator we rented from them won't hold an idle on Day 1, so I called Mitch and he was able to bring a 2nd generator to our site from another campsite. Not only did the 2nd generator only have 1/2 a tank of gas (we're promised a full tank upon drop-off) but the pull-start broke off on my first try. So, we we're left with a non-working refrigerator on Day 1, ruining a couple pre-made meals we made to save money, and not enough battery for my wife and 20 month old baby to use the heater during the night or morning either. Day 2 Dec. 24th I call RV rentals about broken generator, I never get a call back but Ken happens to come by our campsite to replace the batteries out because I guess he heard we were having problems. Again, no heads up phone call, I just happened to be in campsite when Ken stops by. I inform Ken about the broken pull-start on the generator, which he tried to fix but can't because he doesn't have the proper tools with him. Ken also informs us on how to get refrigerator working properly at this time, fridge was finally working right by end of Day 2. NOTE: The Champion brand generators they offer are extremely loud and will annoy your neighbors and yourself! Day 3 Dec. 25th Ken says he'll come back on Xmas to fix generator around 11am. He finally gets to our campsite around 1pm and fixes the pull-start on 2nd generator. Therefore, we were left without genie power on Xmas morning, and not able to cook any of the food we brought especially for Xmas. Day 4 Dec. 26th We notice water leaking into cabin from bathroom wall. Not only was the bathtub patched together with tape, but it had filled up 3/4's full with gray water and began leaking through the bathroom wall and into the cabin, soaking the carpet around the dining table an. I call Cruz at the Lot per RV Rentals' phone line instructions and leave a message about the leak. Cruz calls back a couple hours later to ask if I can scoop out the water myself, I said I didn't bring anything to do that with. Then, Greg pulls up in a truck and starts hooking up to our trailer. I ask him what he's doing, and he says he's going to take the trailer away and clean out the bathtub and replenish the tanks. We had no idea they we're planning on doing this, and had to hurriedly wake up our baby and breakdown the trailer securing all our belongings so they could take it away and try to fix all the problems. Greg comes back an hour later, and by the afternoon on Day 4 we're finally setup properly for the first time on our vacation, even though there's still stinky wet carpet around the kitchen table from the bathtub leak. Upon asking for a partial refund Mitch tells us that the generator breaking "happens all the time" and the water overflowing from their busted bathtub was due to "user error." Why would you put more freshwater in the tanks than we're able to use? When asked why we didn't get a heads up call that they were going to take away trailer to drain tub, Mitch rudely said, "Well what'd you think was going to happen?" Mitch half-heartedly said he was going to get back to us about a refund/credit, but never did. Other problems: - the trailer radio kept turning itself on throughout the night, freaking us out and waking up our baby as well. - one of the screen door handles fell apart on day 1 as soon as we touched it, must've been broken already. - couple pieces of trailer interior were cracked or broken upon drop-off and fell apart completely by end of trip: plastic cupboard guard which was already cracked and barely hanging on to begin with, and a cushioned trim piece on the dining table that fell by itself exposing long nasty screws for our baby to poke himself with. - the master bed pop-out dipped down at the head-end compared to rest of trailer, so every time you laid down to sleep you had blood rushing to your head. We had the 25' Outback Trailer. What a waste of $1k+, should've just tent camped it would've been a much better experience than having to call San Diego RV Rentals everyday of our vacation to have them try to fix something. We rented the Allegro for 5 days. We had the coach delivered and there were no problems. Mitch and Ken and the staff were friendly and helpful. The coach was clean and roomy. Heater worked great and there were no problems with the batteries. The problems - televisions only work with DVD player, which the coach doesn't have. We were not told this before our trip. The bed is terrible and needs to be replaced, felt like we were sleeping on a bed of springs. If you want the linen and/or kitchen packages make sure you reserve them early. They were out of these and we had to haul all of our own stuff to the campground. read more

I recently rented an RV from them for 9 days to drive to Wyoming from San Diego and to travel throughout the Western states. We had generator issues within the first 300 miles after receiving the RV. The roadside insurance policy that we purchased through them was very limited as it would not fix our generator but would only come out if the vehicle did not function. It did work but with no A/C for the entire trip! In addition, the vehicle was not clean upon pick up and required 30 minutes of clean up. The walk around was very brief and did not tell me everything I needed to know. There was no operations manual either. This company has nice RVs but their customer service is poor. If you know RVs then they would be a good bet as their prices were competitive. I negotiated a refund off of the rental price because of trip problems like no A/C, poor gas mileage, and generator issues. Be aware of your rental here. Definitely not for a first-timer... I hope this helps... I have to give them 3 stars as the rig did get us to Wyoming and back...but not without many issues. That's my experience... read more

I have rented from these guys approximately 11 times over the past 10 years. I have watched them grow their business and have always been very satisfied. Their coaches are always clean, and the staff is always very helpful. They have always been accommodating for my needs and scheduling. I have rented both trailers and Rv's from them and will continue to do so. They have a great selection and various price ranges to meet any budget. I have refereed many of my friends to them and they have been satisfied as well. if there was a negative star, I would mark it, I rented 33 footer class C for three nights, close to $1,100. horrible experience, never again, they did not have the professionalism and the decency to call me back when I tried to connect with them to share my problems that we encountered. in one of the storage units they had a trash bag full of garbage from god knows when, the first night the battery died, all the gages inside the RV were off, we had to empty out the black tank, because the gage said so, but it was half full, we had to leave our camp site to do so. We selected the 34' Bounder from this particular business mostly because they allowed pets in this rug and it was the right size for us. Everything about the rig and the service was above par and the off season price was very competitive. After the rental we were very pleased with the people and even happier with the rig so we're pretty much committed to coming back for our next RV rental especially considering some of the 2014 rigs they've added to the inventory. read more

This is my first time using RV Rentals San Diego in San Marcos and all i can say it doesn't get any better as far as I'm concerned. I dealt with both Ken & Mitch and both guys are super friendly and very helpful. Our pick up was seamless and on time and the RV was immaculately presented. We chose the Fleetwood Bounder which performed faultlessly during all of our trip. The package provided of mileage & generator hours was accommodating and worked well for me. Our return again was seamless. A quick check over of the RV found everything ok so no extra charges which is often not the case with other rentals I've found. The trailers have always been super clean; renting, picking up and returning have all been very smooth transactions, with no unwelcome surprises. They are very helpful and have always been quick to return an answer by email; in person they are willing to answer any question I've had about operating the RV. I'm sorry to hear about Sam L.'s bad experience, because I have had just the opposite experience. Great selection of Class A's and Class C's (I have rented both from them). In fact, the Class A I just rented was a 2007 and it looked brand new! I agree with Duane L. that the rig, service and selection are above par. They answered my e-mails and phone calls quickly - which was especially important considering I screwed up the reservation date on my first attempt! The online reservation system is great because you can see which rigs are available on specific dates. (Doing this over the phone would be tedious). I went to the yard the next day and Ken was very helpful and told me to walk through any of the RVs I was interested in. Check-out was great. I told them that I had rented Class A's before, so they didn't waste my time babying explanations. They simply pointed out the location of features ... until I specifically asked about something (awning), at which point they went through the entire process, step-by-step. They encouraged me to take photos and video to reference later. Likewise, check-in was fast and easy (AND they don't require you to drain and clean the black/grey water tanks before returning ... which other places do require)! I will definitely be back next year to rent from them again. read more
