Tim was out to our house the very next day, on time and with a small back up crew. Within an hour or so, he had our problem solved - turned out to be a failed circuit board and we were lucky that he had one available and on site, ready to switch out. Prior to the repairs he explained to me what was going on, what he was testing and what might need to be done. After they swapped out the circuit board, he showed me what he did, demonstrated the proper way to use a slide-out with a glitch in it, showed us the part he swapped out. He also did a complimentary roof inspection and told us that we could call him anytime, day or night, home or camping spot, and he would come out if we needed another repair down the road. Our payment went through Venmo and his prices are EXTREMELY reasonable, especially because of the quick turnaround. Then (yes, there is more) he sent us some instructional videos that we could use down the road. What impressed me the most was his friendliness, his courtesy and his kindness. The same goes for his staff, Ivan and... (forgive me... missed his name even though he told me but I blabbered away and forgot, didn't want to look inattentive by asking for it again. Was it... Vince?) But I can tell you, they were friendly and outgoing, which also speaks volumes for the company they work for. In today's climate where you ask for a quote and you never hear back, you leave a voice mail and you never hear back, or you finally hear back and the next available spot is 2 weeks away, having Tim and his crew come out the very next day reminded me of what actual customer service is. Tim saved our upcoming New Years Eve camping trip and he is going to be the one person that we call when we have any issues in the the future!!!

I was given a 1hr window for arrival within 3 hours of calling and he arrived prompt and ready to get to work. As a 20yr retired mechanic I had an idea what could be leaking, but Tim walked me through the locations of these "trouble points", ran through the scenario systematically, and fixed our problem within 30min while showing me what to look for and why... It's so hard to find trustworthy help these days or assistance that's affordable... Finding both in the same guy with EWT was the blessing we needed to save our camping trip. I can see why he's one of the few approved vendors allowed into Santee Lakes Recreational campgrounds. Thanks again Tim!

To be fair, he did ultimately fix the issue. However, the overall experience was not positive. He originally quoted us a trip charge and an hourly rate, and also stated that if the repair took longer than an hour, he wouldn't charge extra. He spent over an hour working on it the first day, then said he would need to return. He did come back and resolved the problem on the second visit, but the final bill was noticeably higher than what had been quoted, and the numbers didn't quite make sense to us. As others have mentioned in their reviews, it felt like the job may have been stretched out longer than necessary. Additionally, he became ill right outside our rig before leaving and did not clean it up, which was very uncomfortable and unprofessional. Given the overall experience, we'll be reporting the interaction to the BBB and will not be using this service again. As a side note, his website lists certain certifications and mentions licensing, but we were unable to locate confirmation of a business license. We hope this helps others make an informed decision.

I sent a link to his service to the dealer. I spoke with Ted over the phone a few minutes later after the dealer contacted him. He said he was booked most of the day but had a little time between calls to come out. He was at our property within an hour and done in two hours. Ted had to replace the circuit board, igniter, and a couple of relays. He also handled the warranty billing through the dealer. I was off property during this service call. In this case it is absolutely warranted. I brought my 2003 International 3000 Series Bus into Oceanside Truck & RV Repair on August 14th, 2023. Nothing was wrong with the bus other than the cruise control not working and a few diag lights being on that were not affecting the bus operation in anyway. Having an appointment made 0 sense because my bus sat there for days until they even got the diag computer in there to assess. They charged me $4,200 to literally do nothing. I'm sure the parts they used were second class and after calling a few pro diesel mechanics in town it looks like they charged me 400-500% over what certain parts would cost. In terms of the ICP Sensor, Oil Cooler Seal Kit, and Brake Drums. The drums did not need to be replaced nor did the ICP sensor. The labor they charged me was also was over what should have taken to do these jobs. When I picked up the bus (Aug 21, 2023) the diag lights in question were still on, the cruise control was not functioning and my bus wreaked of cigarette smoke. There were multiple wiring clusters not appropriately placed back in wiring harnesses. There is a box on the dash that has an access point to wiring that was broken and hanging off, because someone who looked at the wiring cluster must have tried to force it off. This was not broken before I dropped my bus off. The carelessness, lack of quality and lack of professionalism for this price is appalling and as a result I will be reporting this business to the BBB. When I spoke to Emily about this she merely said "Well, sir it was working for us." And this was just not true. I drove the bus off the lot and the cruise control still did not work immediately upon getting on the highway. I called her immediately when I left the shop! I had to drive back a day later (another 41mins and expensive diesel both ways in my large bus, on my dime of course) and drop it back off. When I expressed that I was extremely dissatisfied with their service, Emily acted like they would get to it when they could. I expressed that I wasn't leaving until it was fixed and that I'm sticking around. Mike plugged his computer in and realized that whoever redid my rear wheels at their shop did not install the abs sensor correctly and it was pulling a faulty code (again horrible quality of work). They had to redo that and we took the bus on another test drive with his computer plugged in. He demonstrated the cruise control that 'appeared' to work on the drive. I drove off their lot after this and immediately upon getting on the highway between 35-75mph the cruise control again did not function and did not engaged. They charged me $145 for a dismal overall inspection that literally consisted of a few sentences. They charged me $72 TWICE, for plugging in two diag machines and running a literally 30sec scan.... you read that right....they charged me twice. Once for a Cruise Control scan and once for a Transmission scan. Even as these are different scanners this is insane. This work was and is no where near $4,200 in value. I wish I would have read the bad reviews sooner because many people have the same horrible experience with these folks. Do not bring your hard earned money here. I feel manipulated and stole from and this should literally be illegal. They didn't fix any of the things I brought my bus in for and made up a bunch of stories about stuff that didn't need to be fixed. I believe in the genuine goodness of people, but unfortunately in this state people will prioritize profit and greed in many cases. Stay away and get a second or third opinion before you let them charge you anything.

Before approving the work, I specifically asked in writing whether the parts being used were Nissan OEM or aftermarket. I received a direct response stating: "These are OEM parts." Based on that written confirmation, I agreed to move forward with the repair and payment. After the work was completed, I began experiencing serious issues with my vehicle, including stalling to the point where it was no longer safely drivable. Due to these failures, I had to take my vehicle to Nissan for further inspection. During that inspection, it became clear that the radiator installed was not OEM. Nissan also confirmed that OEM radiators would not present the way this one did, including the absence of proper identification. In addition, the coolant/transmission lines had been modified using generic hoses and clamps--something that would not be necessary with an OEM radiator, which is designed to use factory quick-connect fittings. These findings directly contradict what was promised to me in writing prior to the repair. As a direct result of the improper parts and installation, my vehicle sustained significant damage totaling over $15,000 and became unreliable and unsafe to drive, requiring additional time, expense, and inconvenience to address. When I attempted to resolve the situation, I requested receipts and documentation showing where the parts were purchased. These were not provided. In California, automotive repair providers are required to provide documentation and itemization of parts upon request, including itemized invoices and parts information, yet Kevin failed to do so. Instead, I was told that I was a "nightmare" customer and that I was "giving him a headache." He also attempted to shift blame by suggesting the damage must have been caused by a collision or another shop, despite the timeline and circumstances clearly tied to his work. Since then, my attempts to follow up have been ignored. At no point was I informed of any substitution, nor was I given the opportunity to approve the use of non-OEM parts. The use of OEM components was a key factor in my decision to proceed. When a mechanic diagnoses a repair, recommends replacement, and explicitly confirms OEM parts in writing, there is a clear expectation that those terms will be honored. That did not happen here. I strongly recommend that anyone considering working with Kevin at Carlsbad Mobile Mechanic verify all parts being installed, request documentation, and thoroughly inspect the work before accepting completion.
