We had the RV dropped off at a military base and it was agreed that they would drive in on base and set it up. The guy who delivered didn't have a CA Real ID" and they wouldn't let him in the base. We needed up having to set it up and there was some issues with the hook up hoses. We had to purchase a hose and it still leaked. I left a couple messages and emails and got no answers. We ended up figuring everything out and had a great time. The guy brought his passport and picked up the RV with no issue. It took several calls after the rental to get ahold of someone about the issues we had with the drop off and set up. The only reason we got a return call is that I indicated that I was going to write a review. All in all, not such a bad experience that I wouldn't rent from them again. Now I know how to navigate the conversation of what our expectations are.

We booked a RV (#C15 Luxury Sunseeker) through RVFunRental (*RFR) on the RVShare site on 3/31--for travel 7/10-7/18. The RV we booked sleeps 10--with bunk beds, modern décor, and new amenities. On Monday, 7/6, 4 days before our trip--*RFR cancelled our RV booking, and sent a message through the RVShare app. *RFR indicated that our RV was damaged due to gas found in the water system--and offered a subpar alternative replacement--with fewer specs, less sleeping spots (sleeps only 8), and less modern décor & amenities. We declined the alternative RV--and called *RFR to speak with Matt, and GM Miguel. Later, we found *many* negative reviews for *RFR --many posted in June--after our March booking. We requested *RFR to correct their error--and offer an equivalent swap, or RV with more specs at their cost. This is standard expectation and professional customer service--for listing a damaged and dangerous vehicle for rent. Craziest part: *RFR is still actively listing the same damaged #C15 unit on RVShare's website!! *RFR is still accepting bookings for an RV they acknowledge is damaged, unsafe, and has gas in the water reserve. From the swap options, we chose a new RV (#C19) with fewer specs and slept fewer people. Miguel assured me that *RFR would do a clean swap and absorb any extra costs--to replace my damaged RV. GM Miguel then asked me to cancel my original 3/31/26 #C15 reservation through RVShare--and rebook directly through them. I refused this shady request. *RFR wanted me to create a paper trail where I initiate the RV cancellation--resulting in cancellation-fees on my end. When I refused to initiate the cancellation, Miguel/Matt/*RFR stopped answering their phone and never ever called me back since. I sent messages in the RVShare app--requesting follow-up and confirmation for my new #C19 RV replacement. After several hours of nonresponsive calls/texts, I began receiving brief, confusing, and uninformative screenshots in the RVShare app of my replacement RV--along with email confirmations that the new #C19 vehicle had replaced my reservation. *RFR instructed me to accept the new reservation in the app--however, the new booking had increased fees. When asked about the extra fees--that Miguel already agreed to cover, nobody responded to me in the app, and ignored all calls to explain and provide clarity. The next day, *RFR sent another app message--saying the #C19 vehicle had been rented, since I didn't accept the new booking (with unexplained added costs they promised I wouldn't incur). This is also a lie; the #C19 vehicle is still actively listed on RVShare for my exact travel dates. RVShare has since refunded my money--and my family scrambled to book another RV. Summary: 1) *RFR rented a damaged and unsafe #C15 vehicle that they knew had gas-contaminated water from a previous complaint. 2) *RFR bait-and-switch-cancelled my original booking with a subpar replacement. 3) *RFR wanted me to initiate a cancellation directly through RVShare and rebook through them instead (to create a false paper trail that I was cancelling my RV booking). 3) *RFR promised to correct their error and replace my RV with an equivalent vehicle with no added cost--when they in fact tried to get me to accept a new booking at additional/unexplained fees/charges. 4) *RFR cancelled the 2nd vehicle offered to me--claiming it was no longer available, when #C19 is still populating in RVShare listings. 5) *RFR stopped answering my calls/texts, and did not address their shady tactics in the RVShare messaging app. 5) The original damaged/unsafe #C15 with the gas-in-water tank problem is still actively listed by *RFR on the RVShare site! 6) *RFR has many recent negative reviews from May-June (posted after our March booking) for similar bait-and-switch tactics and nonresponsive, unprofessional customer service. DO NOT BOOK THROUGH *RFR. THEY WILL RUIN YOUR TRIP.

Please rent elsewhere. And if you nonetheless rent here, I urge you do the following: (1) Thoroughly review and photograph (time stamped) the trailer/vehicle and raise any flaws before you drive away. Otherwise, you might be accused of doing damage you did not do, as we were. (2) If your fully-functional vehicle mysteriously will not hook up to the Airstream trailer, forcing you to rent one of their pricey trucks at the last minute, be suspicious. This happened to us. On our return, we had our vehicle evaluated; it was fine and unlikely to have been the issue. (3) Check to make sure the hot water and heat actually work before you drive away. We did not, and we had no heat or hot water (do not know if it was user ignorance, or the trailer). Either way, we were offered no discount. (4) We received towels and sheets, and nothing else. Ignore the fancy website photos. No plates, cups, utensils, let alone corkscrews or cookware. Bring your own. (5) We wanted to rent the smaller Bambi trailer, but were told only the larger one was available. Unclear now to us if that was the truth, or what stock this company actually has. Caveat emptor.

Just be sure to purchase tokens at the front for the shower. - Dog friendly! I lucked out and found a super close parking spot in the neighborhood across the street. The beach itself was VERY short compared to sand length at other beaches so people were almost on top of each other. There was a pretty intense drop off about half way down the sand so it limited space for people to put down their stuff and lay out. I'm not sure how normal it is at this spot but there was a TON of rocks. It was way too much to be able to enter the water without having them beating your feet and ankles. My friend was bleeding after trying to check out the water. The surf was also a little intense that day so I'm wondering if that had any effect on the rock situation? This was a very clean beach with restrooms at the bottom of the ramp from the street so it did have that going for it but we decided to leave and head for a beach where we could safely go into the water that day. I'll have to come back another time to get a better idea.

I have had to fix a few things upon accepting delivery and Rachel has been great in the service department as has Joe the manager. The biggest help I have gotten from everyone is from Tony in the parts department. Tony, Chad, and Nikki and the parts folks are awesome. Quite frankly I have read the poor reviews this place has received, and I think they are much better than what has been said about them. One of my windows was broken on delivery and I had a hard time getting follow up to get the new one ordered, though it had been promised by many folks at Holland on several occasions. I shared my frustration with Tony, and he took it upon himself to ensure that I had no further issues with Holland. Tony helped me with a weight distribution, anti-sway Blue Ox Hitch and personally got my window ordered and approved by Joe and the service team. Once Tony learned that I was having some issues that I wanted to resolve and had not been successful, he really stepped up and showed the best this place has to offer. Even though the window still needs to be fixed, this fellow really wanted to make sure that this and all the other issues (as I learn -- a newbie) are addressed. Tony goes the extra mile every time and knows no limit in showing he cares and wants to help - this guy is the best of the lot! That brings me to the final point: Holland is NOT a 1 star place deserving of 1 star reviews. They carry the finest merchandise and literally stock millions in inventory. Not everyone carries Grand Design - it is to me the Del Mar and Rancho Sante Fe of Trailers. They have all the top brands and top parts to go with them. My assessment is they are just plain overworked and busy and probably trying to get qualified additional staff in a rough market. One thing for sure though - they are ALL HEART! They truly do give a damm about the customers and showed that with me. To me, they embody classic San Diego - the big city that thinks it's a small town. If you have been to LA then you know what I mean. It's much friendlier here. These folks are very personal and put their whole heart into everything. And all of us with good hearts are not perfect - that's the point. Finally, I can't forget to mention that Dave gave my wife and I a wonderful walk through with refreshments and a red carpet service. Another Holland guy with a big heart. And Hank even delivered our trailer to us as we were not quite set up for towing (an exciting process to learn). HRV has my loyalty.
