Sadly eye doctors like dentists operate more like for profit industries these days. while the staff was friendly, I experienced an unexpected charge when going to get a new glasses prescription. Due to the fact I checked that I wear contacts without asking they did a contacts fitting not covered by insurance that led to an additional $55 dollar charge. The office is conveniently located near Willow Lawn, but they also have other locations in RVA. This space is clean, sleek and comfortable. The front desk assistants are always pleasant and helpful. Your eye exam at RVA Eye Care will be flawless. The assistant takes you into the pristine exam room and gives you a series of eye tests to aid Dr. Rainer in evaluating your vision. The technicians are thorough and well trained. I love the new glaucoma testing machine, I didn't feel a thing! The instruments are always sanitary being cleaned after each patient. Then Dr. Rainer, who is always so personable and professional, goes over all your results and explains your tests and charts in detail. You never feel rushed when he is reviewing your images, history and prescription. His expertise is superb and you will have peace of mind (and eye) when he's finished with your examination. Your eyeglass fitting will be efficient, relaxing, and precise. I sat with Rian, who was patient and extremely attentive as I made my choice. She even told me they painstakingly sanitized their entire collection of glasses during the Covid crisis. They wear the appropriate PPE and disinfect every pair of glasses (including tables and chairs) after the customers try them on! The selection is extensive, and they carry brands not found at those "chain" stores, so your fashion eyeglasses are will be unique. They are always willing to clean, tighten and adjust my eyeglasses and sunglasses with pleasure! And I have quite a collection! I've received my glasses and I love them! Just coming back to update you all on how great of an experience it was from start to finish. They fit my glasses to my face and noticed that they weren't tight enough, so she tightened them on the spot. I'll say this......Doctors Ranier and Mohrman are wonderful, friendly and very professional. Unfortunately these are the only glowing accolades RVA Eye Care exudes.
