A local auto repair shop recommended Mels. The crew from the front desk to their kind installer was able to install a new windshield the next day, without any delays. At home service is so convenient! She got me scheduled for the next week, my choice of day, but I got the impression I could have done it even sooner. Chris came out, & did the repair. He was personable, explained the process, & made me feel confident he was the man for the job (he was!). It took him about an hour, then he was on his way, allowing space for the tech to calibrate the windshield. Rob was the one to perform the calibration. I really appreciate that he went above, & beyond to take my car to the shop to calibrate there versus on site, which had sub-par conditions (not Mel's fault at all, of course). (?) If on truck but not there til 4 can't install that day b/c 5 pm close time and it takes 1 1/2-2 hours to install. Took Uber home @12:30 got call @2:40 install complete (WTH?) Had to Uber back next morning. Told by mgr Matt Eggleston that warehouse @ location suddenly closed & all staff laid off by corporate day of appt. they didn't know where anything was.... He agreed to pay for my Uber trips (I paid tips & upgrade) but then only sent check for 1 trip b/c (direct quote) "unfortunately we have parts issues all the time" ?? But had email from him on 6/12 "can I please get your address for the Uber reimbursement". I would avoid this company-sounds like it's failing. Wonder how they would handle it if you had a poor installation problem?

Unfortunately, this recent situation did not reflect the level of service I had come to expect. I had a small tint defect that I noticed from day one after installation, but did not address with the business. Over a year later, it appeared to delaminate, which can occur when a contaminant trapped between the glass and adhesive creates a localized adhesion failure that worsens over time through heat cycles, thermal expansion, and adhesive stress. The defect was a circular mark with a visible halo around it, which is more consistent with a localized adhesion issue than a typical surface abrasion. When I brought it in, multiple staff members repeatedly insisted it was "physical damage," including the explanation that a seatbelt could create a perfectly circular mark in the middle of the window. That explanation did not align with the defect I was seeing, especially since seatbelt contact would more typically leave an elongated scuff, arc, or irregular abrasion rather than a clean, centered circle with a halo. It was frustrating to feel like my concern was dismissed rather than properly evaluated. To their credit, they ultimately agreed to redo the tint at no charge. However, during the replacement process I noticed another contaminant before leaving and had to point it out for correction. After the second attempt, there was still a visible dust speck in the upper corner, which I was told was "acceptable" as long as it was not in the main line of sight. I appreciate that they honored the redo, but the overall experience was disappointing. The repeated insistence that the original issue was my fault, the need for multiple attempts, and the remaining defect did not match the quality and attention to detail I had experienced from them over the years. I hope this feedback is taken constructively, because I truly valued this business and would like to see them maintain the standard that originally earned my trust.
