We ordered take out from this restaurant. This restaurant serves Romanian food (although I don't think we ordered anything that was traditionally Romanian). We ordered the fried Asiago cheese as an appetizer. It was crispy but had no flavor. I wish it came with a sauce or something (like a sweet drizzle would have made it better). We also tried two sandwiches, the beef brisket and cheesesteak sandwiches. The beef brisket was good, the sauce was a little sweet, and the beef wasn't too dry. The bread tasted fresh and I like the amount of ingredients in the sandwich. The cheesesteak wasn't the best. It had a cucumber wasabi sauce that wasn't the best. The meat was well cooked though. I just think the sauce isn't for everybody. I think I would order again from here. The prices were decent. First time visiting Ryans with family who are Romanian and non-Romanian to enjoy some Romanian food. Order lots of different items to share and taste. Nothing disappointed! Small, local establishment, tucked away on a main street. If you blink, you'll miss it. We ordered via phone and picked up our order to bring home. You can eat in if you would like. There's a very small dining area inside with tables good for 4 or 2 people. Service was excellent. Everyone was extremely friendly. Inside of the establishment and the cooking area was clean. I got a combo which came with 1/2 a chicken, sausage and ribs. Also came with two sides, so I picked Mac n cheese and baked beans. These sides were out of this world. Obviously home made. My son kept stealing scoops from me. The ribs were fall off the bone tender and the sausage was like a kielbasa but slightly spicier. The chicken was very good. Could have been a little more moist but still very good. Portion size was insane. Enough for a second meal for lunch the next day. Everything is so good here. Made with authenticity, flavor, and love. On a late night randomly was working late in Lyndhurst, decided to order from this place as I was looking for barbecue chicken. Once I looked at the menu, I was intrigued and ended up ordering the barbecue half chicken, tripe soup, mix, barbecue platter combo, eggplant salad, potato salad, side of roasted mashed vegetables, and cannellini bean salad. It was a ton of food but so glad I ordered and had enough for leftover for days because the food is so good. The chicken was tender and flavorful. Good seasoning with crispy skin. The stand out where the salads and side dishes, the eggplant salad was flavorful, rich creamy, and just the most amazing thing I've ever eaten. The cannellini bean paste was like a richer version of hummus, same texture, but better flavor in my opinion. The grandma's potato salad was light and flavorful, love that they put pickles and eggs in it as well. I'm so full and have not gone into the fried cheese, nor the mixed grill platter. Meat-centric enough to list grilled pork neck on the menu, Ryan's scores its greatest masterpiece with vegetables. The outstanding mashed root vegetables dish makes you wonder why no one else thought of it. Parsnips aren't copyrighted and aren't especially rare or expensive so hopefully others will realize that this is a vast improvement on plain old potatoes. There are potatoes here, with carrots as a fellow co-headliner, but it's obvious what the true star is. One of the menu's strong points is various permutations; I opted for a tasting combo with ribs, chicken and sausage. The ribs were the best of these; with a hint of sauce it's not pure dry-rub but the focus is on the meat itself rather than adornments, slightly sweet, kind of peppery. The strong pickles (cucumbers and green tomatoes) are not from a jar. Along with the meat, they have an intensity that works brilliantly with the calmer profile of the root vegetables. read more

So I have stopped in here a couple of times and have had the schnitzel both times, the first because the owner recommended it and the second because the owner was so right the first time. Both times I substituted the potatoes for the rice, again at the owner's suggestion. I also added a spare rib, another good addition. The owners are great and have been super friendly both visits. Just moved to this area and this place looked like a good spot to grab some lunch to go. They do curbside pickup and seems like they're practicing social distancing! Picked up a big platter of meat. - 1/2 chicken- boy was that skin crispy which I loved! The dark meat was juicy, the white meat was a bit on the dry side but overall flavor was perfect - spare ribs- light sauce, not as tender as I would like but again the flavor was awesome - sausage- these were huge and the casing had a nice snap to it - I would come back to get the sausage platter alone Highly recommended and I will be a repeat customer! read more

In ye olden days this small town was predominantly Italian and Polish.  And now, on top of the countless pizzerias and Italian delis, you can find everything from Caribbean to Japanese to Cuban to... Romanian?!  Da!  (That's "yes" in Romanian and not your American slang of 'duh', if I can trust Google Translate.) First off: these two blocks in town are packed with a slew of little businesses and it's always difficult to find parking. Ryan's itself is pretty small with just a few tables in front.  (Our first attempt to eat there was thwarted when a family of about 8 got there before us and snagged all the available real estate.) Aside from those quibbles... it comes down to the food.  (And the food is good!) This was my family's first time trying Romanian grub so it's just a guess that because their country is mostly landlocked that Ryan's menu leans meat-heavy, almost no seafood, with plenty of "stick to your ribs" sides (beans, rice, root veggies).  And I'm also making an assumption that Ryan's is adding their own personal tweaks and touches (sliced avocado surely can't be a traditional item over there in Eastern Europe, right?) but the family was happy with all of the items we tried. From their pulled pork sandwich to the half-chicken entrée to some really interesting salads - lots of flavor, seriously large portions, definitely not that pricey. Some of the stuff was a bit quirky (rice seemed to have been cooked/incorporated with some type of fat - maybe a cream of some kind?  And it's mostly dark-meat chicken that was used in their salads) for my American taste buds and expectations. Definitely a place worth a repeat visit to try some of their other specials. Got the combo. Ribs and kielbasa were juicy and delicious. Seasoned perfectly. Unfortunately, the chicken was dry. Perhaps because it was after the lunch rush. Don't know. Found the potato salad to be a bit too acidic to eat by itself but paired perfectly with the rich fattiness of the ribs and kielbasa. Seasoned fries were crisp and tasty. Portions were good. I went there two times to try it. the food is terrible!! I tried several several dishes and all of them sucked! they use a microwave to reheat my food. the ceiling had stuff falling down, it looked disgusting. I ordered the #1 combo with a whole chicken and ribs. The chicken was one of the best rotisserie chickens I've ever had in my life. It was so juicy and flavorful, even the breast was oozing with succulent happiness. The ribs were good too, nice and and fall off the bone tender with just the right amount of sauce on them. The meal came with rice and I ordered a side order of fries. My kids went crazy for the seasoned fries, my daughter gave them a 10 out of 10 and inhaled them like it was chocolate cake. I had to reminder her to eat her chicken since she could have easily eaten a full plate of just fries. OK with all that praise and deliciousness out of the way, the rice was a complete let down. It was like eating savory pudding, it was so thick and overcooked like thick rice pudding. I can say I've never had romanian pilaf before but I know if it is like this, I'll probably never have it again. Respectfully, this type of rice just wasn't my thing at all. We ended up not eating it which is sort of ok since I'm a non practicing keto dieter but a shame since I had to eat more chicken then I intended lol shut it! Place is clean, staff is friendly, food fresh. Admittedly I haven't tried many things on this menu, just the rotisserie chicken which I believed I ended up paying $24.50 for. That is way too much for a rotisserie chicken and some white rice. I want to support small businesses but when you can grab a rotisserie chicken from a food store around for 1/3 of the price it's hard not to. My partner and I went to eat there today. The staff was friendly and attentive. We ordered the ribs, pulled pork sandwich, rice, macaroni and cheese, and fries. The ribs fell off the bone and tasted great. The pulled pork was great as well. My partner ate the whole thing. The rice was well seasoned. The mac and cheese was super cheesy and creamy. The fries were crunchy and well seasoned. We paid about $47 in total for all of that and two bottled waters. Considering pricing in this area, this was pretty good. Ordered for the first time based on all the great reviews. I ordered the 1/2 chicken with fries and an order of fried cheese. The chicken had that "chickeny" smell that you get from leftover reheated chicken. It also tasted old and was lacking flavor. I took a small bite and threw the rest in the trash. They gave plenty of fries. The fried cheese was good, I wish there was more of the sauce that was on the bottom as it complimented the cheese nicely. I spent $25 exluding delivery fee and tip. I have eaten here with gal pals previously and loved it. Tonight my husband found the menu in our drawer and decided to order and absolutely LOVED it. From now on when we get a sausage and pork craving, here is where will get it from. I have never had such perfectly cooked breaded pork like this. Refreshing and lighter than hummus. Mititei is hand formed sausage made of chicken and beef. Served with whole grain mustard this is mild sausage with some interesting spices being used. Quite good. Wine braised beef however stole the show ! Marinated for hours than in the oven a few more hours the result was unctuous fall apart on your fork and in your mouth. My first dine-in experience since the pandemic began in March 2020; I went several weeks ago while some family was visiting. I ordered the pork chops, which were on point! I liked the healthy side options. We also ordered ribs, chicken fingers with fries (for the kids) and wine braised beef; they were all really tasty. The place is small and since we went in the middle of the week, we were the only ones there during lunch time hours. Wow! What an exciting find! I was searching for schnitzel and came across Ryan's BBQ and all the stellar reviews for the Wine-braised beef with mashed root vegetables. I ordered delivery and the owner kindly answered my questions about the menu and even delivered the food. Although I did not try the schnitzel, the wine-braised beef was truly exceptional. The flavors and textures between the succulent beef and the veggie mash were exquisite. The cremeschnitte (homemade vanilla custard) was a good finish to the meal. I hadn't ordered before, after many BBQ google searches I called and ordered the party tray for a family dinner. Everyone I spoke to was so courteous and helpful on the phone. I went to pickup and was greeted with such a friendly atmosphere. The food smelled amazing. When we got home and opened the containers I was blown away! It's all looked soooo good! This is a delicious spot where you feel the love in the food! I came in and ordered take out. I ordered the braised beef with wine and mashed root veggies and the quinoa salad! The owner was friendly and most gracious and offered suggestions and I took food home and almost stopped the car for a taste of what smelled so good. The wine braised beef with mashed root vegetables had me only making noises, no words needed. The biggest surprise was what I thought would be a simple vegetable soup with meatballs--my mouth is still watering.
