We both ordered the chicken gyro bowls along with the spinach basil balls. The portions were incredibly generous. So much so that we each took half of our meal home and enjoyed it again for dinner. Everything tasted fresh and flavorful. I had never tried spinach basil balls before. They reminded me of a croquette, crisp on the outside and full of flavor inside. You order at the counter and pick up your food at the counter. The space itself is beautifully decorated, with a warm ambiance that feels inspired by Greek culture. I was visiting my cousin in Nutley last night from the Lehigh Valley. I have celiac disease, so we specifically chose this restaurant due to the variety of Clearly marked gluten-free food. I did not feel the need to call and question the processes as I feel if a restaurant has the audacity to label something allergy free, it's trustworthy. An hour after eating this I became violently ill. It was an hour and a half ride home for me, vomiting in my car and going to the bathroom on the side of Route 78 and 37° weather. Not sure where to start... With their tiny parking lot (where the driveway ramp isn't even wide enough for cars to come-and-go at the same time) and if you do snag a spot - right behind you there's a GrubHub/UberEats/Postmates fella that parks smack-dab in the middle of the whole lot and now it's impossible to pull out until he leaves. Or the "wake up!" surprise of the two entrance doors... the exterior door causes a vacuum effect that SLAMS the inner door that can't help but startle you and everyone inside... every single time someone comes in or out. Maybe I'll just jump right to the food itself, okay? Falafel platter (to-go) - the (environmentally friendly) box/packaging didn't seem like a lot (size and weight) but... it's no joke. Some salad, a few (quartered) pitas, a generous dollop of tzatziki, plenty of rice, as well as a handful of (wildly crunchy and fresh) falafel balls... everything was flavorful, each component working harmoniously with their neighbor. (I was happily stuffed by the time I was finished.) My kids weren't as impressed with their picks - chicken gyro for one, beef souvlaki for the other. (But the French fries were a super salty hit.) The restaurant itself is small, clean, inviting. Per our modern (social media obsessed) times - there's the "grammable" neon signs with flower backdrops - next to a few imported items (Socrates-brand of olive oil... it's epistemologically delicious!) which tempted me to pull out my phone to snap some pics. (But I refrained... I'm too old for all of that.) Two visits to date... I'm a fan. (Part of me is hoping Pita Bowl and Playa Bowls open side by side to really mess with the public.) read more

I've ordered from this restaurant many times and generally appreciated the convenience. Today, however, I stopped by in person and had an unexpectedly poor experience that made me reconsider ever going back. I requested a gyro, but asked for it in a tortilla wrap instead of the usual pita (which they offer). Instead of handling the small customization professionally, the staff seemed confused and irritated. The cashier misunderstood the order, and the cook loudly voiced his frustration from the back--while I was sitting right there. It was uncomfortable and completely unnecessary. When the food finally arrived, it was nothing like a gyro. It was overloaded with rice, barely any meat, and had none of the flavor or texture you'd expect. I didn't even finish it--and to make matters worse, I felt physically unwell shortly after eating. Restaurants should be able to handle a simple modification without attitude or confusion. And if you can't get a basic order right, with quality ingredients and respectful service, it's hard to justify supporting the business--no matter how close or convenient it may be. read more

I loveee Pita bowl! During Nutley's restaurant week I got to try them out and I'm glad I did. Having enjoyed pretty much everything I tried - I've been coming back for their bowls. I normally get the chicken gyro bowl which is they're delicious rice, a Greek salad, fresh pita with tzaziki sauce and perfectly seasoned chicken. The interior of this restaurant is absolutely beautiful - tons of traditional Greek art displayed and bright colors. I've never sat to dine in but they have a gorgeous space and a parking lot. Staff is friendly - I usually order online and pick it up. This place is really great but weeknight takeout, you can still customize things to make it healthy. Though if you don't want to stick to a lighter option - I really suggest the fresh pita and tzatziki. Delicious all around - give them a try! read more

A VERY easy to miss greek restaurant located in Nutley. I happened on it by accident and decided to try it. It's small but nice inside. Seemed like the owner and her employee were working very hard and the food was pretty good. I ordered a beef and lamb gyro platter which I was served pretty quickly. (I didn't expect it quickly because they seemed to have a lot of orders). The platter was very good, I especially liked the side salad with feta. The meat was tasty and I even got a pita which was also good. I definitely want to go back and try other items. I love Greek food and they didn't disappoint. read more

Ordered two bowls. One was a vegan plant based bowl, which strangely for ordering the "vegan" bowl you still have to pay an upcharge for the vegan tzatziki, while dairy tzatziki would have been included. Then I saw that its just store bought vegan tzatziki anyway. However, the person who ate this dish said they really liked it and would come back. For myself, I ordered the pork gyro bowl with regular (dairy) tzatziki. It came with a salad that was already dressed perfectly fine. The tzatziki was good. The rice was fine. The (store bought) pita was good, they grilled it so it wasn't just out of the bag. While I was waiting for the food, I heard them throw the meat on the grill and grill it up. Cool, i thought. Then i noticed 2 unused vertical broilers, you know the ones i mean, the ones that cook the gyro. Now, its possible they weren't in use because it was an hour short of closing, I'm not sure. I've been searching high and low for good pork gyro, ever since athenian grill changed hands in north arlington and they took it off the menu. I didn't find it here. The pork gyro had one note to it: salt. Overwhelming salt. It might have been crispy, it might have been chewy. I don't know. The only thing i know about the pork gyro at Pita Bowl in Nutley is SALT. While I don't plan on coming back, my other half, the vegan, has put it in her notes for an option to check out. read more

I was pleasantly surprised that they had a variety of vegan/vegetarian options beyond the usual falafels. I had the vegan platter and it was quite good - some slightly mysterious but tasty gyro-esque "meat", a generous portion of rice, pita, and salad. The boxes the food comes in are deceptively compact; it was easily two meals worth of food. The location itself is just ok - the AC might have been out of order or else was so faint that it was barely cooler inside than outside. I also noticed that some of the products they keep in their little "agora" grocery corner were well past their expiration date, which is a shame, because in theory, selling a few greek grocery items is a nice idea. Ordered a bunch of food for pickup our family including a hotdog for my 5 year old. Instead of telling us they ran out of hotdogs they put a burger in the bag and wait for us to get home to figure it out. We called and the manager said he would give a discount on my next order. This is a very small, hidden establishment tucked away in a corner area. My wife even made a comment that she never realized this was here. So, I placed our order via the phone. We got 2 NYC cart gyros, loaded greek fries and the spinach and artichoke balls. The spinach and artichoke balls were very good. I think it said it was supposed to come with hummus, but we didn't get any. The loaded greek fries were INSANE. We got it with chicken and it's topped with tzaziki sauce. The chicken was so flavorful and had a nice spice to it. Phenomenal touch. The yeeros (Gyros) were excellent. The beef/ Lamb combo was excellent. All ingredients inside were fresh AND it's done correctly with fries inside. Very few places do that. Could have used more tzaziki sauce as once you got halfway through, there was none. So I'm very upset right now, I order 3 meals online get to the store at 15 mins, the time the website told me the food would be ready and they tell me to wait they haven't started online orders and it would be an additional 15 minutes. OK not happy about it but fine, as I'm waiting I notice the price of the food was a lot cheaper in the store, I paid $16 for a beef bowl and in store it was $14.25 I asked them about it and they told me the prices are higher online to accommodate the fee for the online service. That would be sort of be understandable if I didn't get to the store and have to wait an additional 15 mins after being told what time to be there. I paid roughly $6-7 more by ordering online and here I am waiting just as long as others that ordered in store. The point of online order for pickup is to have everything ready when you get there. OK I get home and I ordered a kids Beek skewer meal, all I got was 1 beef stick and was charged $10. I called them back and they said $10 is the price of the beef skewer. I told them I ordered a kids beef and they said no I ordered an adult. The adult version is $8 online and the the kids was $9 but the guy insisted the adult beef skewer was $10 and "he can't change the prices" one skewer is $10??? He then said they've give me a rice on the house if I come back. Not doing it. I decide to eat my food since admittedly I'm hangry and instead of hummus they put tzatziki on both plates and I ordered hummus cause I hate tzatziki. Complete failure. Wow I couldn't have had a worse first experience. The food is tasty though but complete customer service failure soured the whole experience. read more

The other vegan at my job and I ordered from here for lunch. I've been eating a lot of falafel lately and was so excited to have a gyro. It was fantastic. I really appreciate this place for their vegan options & not using a ton of plastic. I won't go back because I quit that job & aren't in the area, but I highly recommend this spot!... and quitting your job too if they don't appreciate you & pay you right but that's a different story. The portion sizes are far too small. The Greek Salad is the size of a side salad and not appropriate for an adult meal. The second time I ordered the Greek Salad it was missing feta cheese. The lettuce is cut too small/thin and is limp rather than crisp. I ordered chicken on top and there was as much meat as lettuce- this should not be the case. The gyro's are good, but could use extra souvlaki. I really wanted to like this place and I may give it one more shot, but so far I am not impressed. The desserts look good, but $7.50 for a small square is $3 too much. read more

Wanted to like this place so bad... unfortunately the food was not good at all. Everything was so dry and crazy enough the rice was the only thing that wasn't. They also forgot to give us extra tzatziki sauce and charged us for it. In addition the pretzel was rock hard you could crack a tooth on it. Place seemed very unorganized.
