I went in to this store as I needed some thread. I was pleased when I walked in and was greeted and assisted right away. I was amazed to see the selection of beautiful quilting fabrics and the quality was there. I have since been back 3 different times and with each visit I was helped by the staff who were each knowledgeable and professional. I was pleased with my fabric purchases and will go back as prices were reasonable and there sales were a nice selection of fabrics. When I went to Ryan's for the first time to look at the embroidery machines, Ryan talked about the different options but said we should go with the Brothers 10 needle machine. I know now that I should have waited but they were very good sales people, can't blame them. However one thing BOTH Ryan and Diane said they would assist me with learning how to work the machine and have classes with other people who have the same machine. It's now been 5 months and not once have they returned my calls or kept my appointment when I needed to met with them. Once again I still have not heard from them and had to learn about my machine from Youtube!! They just need the money and business. I would say be careful and really think about the machine if you wish to get the machines from this place. read more

I had purchased 2 Brother sewing machines from Ryan's years ago. But whenever I need to get my Brother machines or other brand machines serviced it takes 8 weeks of my machine just sitting there waiting to be looked at. That is ridiculous!! I nearly sold my beloved Bernina off for parts because the service tech at Ryan's told me it had a cracked bushing and Bernina didn't make parts anymore and it couldn't be fixed. I was devastated! Months went by and I finally listed everything separately to sell. I sold some presser feet and the bobbin case. Then my friend took her machine to Rick at AFFORDABLE SEWING & VACUUM REPAIR and was so pleased, that I contacted Rick to see if my Bernina could be fixed. Long story short, it was NOT a cracked bushing and not only did Rick fix the issue with my machine (tangled thread was what it really was), but I was able to buy a bobbin from him and I needed a handwheel because the last person who took it off damaged it, and Rick sold me a new handwheel too. Shame on Ryan and all the dealers who tell us our beloved machines cannot be fixed. I know the bottom line is they are trying to sell us new machines even when we don't need or want a new machine. Because of that wrong diagnosis of my machine, I ended up selling parts and accessories from my sewing machine that I now have to find and buy again. I ended up buying a new sewing machine (not from Ryan) that I didn't need to buy since my Bernina could be fixed. Ryan's ended up costing me a lot of money telling me my machine couldn't be fixed. Needless to say I won't be buying anything from Ryan's again, not even a spool of thread! You lost my business and I will tell all my sewing friends not to take their machines in for repair to you. If anyone tells you your machine cannot be fixed, ask Rick at AFFORABLE SEWING on EUBANK for a second opinion. I am pissed that I was either told a lie or that Ryan employs techs who aren't skilled enough or just don't want to bother with certain machines. The other dealers around are about the same as Ryan's and I have used them all at one time or another and haven't been too pleased with any of them. So much for getting "dealer support" buying from a dealer. Where is that support when I bought machines from dealers and still have to wait 8 weeks for servicing? Where is that support to fix my machine and diagnosis it properly in the first place? Adios Ryan's. read more

I wish I would've done a better job shopping for a sewing machine. I paid $500.00 for a new brother Innov-is NS 80e sewing machine. I have changed my review. I have taken out my remark about price gouging. Ryan's contacted me about my review and pointed out that the model from Amazon is different from the model that I purchased. They were right. Still wish I would've done a better job shopping because the one on Amazon is actually a sewing AND quilting machine which means it has 80 plus more stitches than the one I got. Lol. Oh well. It's not Ryan's fault that I didn't do my homework. They did give me %25 off of accessories for that day. And the staff was friendly. I apologize for being mistaken. read more

I don't sew much, but have a Singer that I have used for many years. I took it into Ryan's a couple of years ago. The top stitch could not be !adjusted and thread was tangling under the needle plate. It took several weeks for the completion of the repair. At their recommendation, they cleaned and oiled the machine as well. When I picked it up, they said the bobbin case had been the problem and they had had replaced it. The service charge was over $70. Once home, I checked it out; it didn't sew and the bobbin case looked used rather than new. I didn't have time to take it back, so it sat for a couple of years. Finally took to another shop for repair. They said it had been re-assembled incorrectly. It sews ok now. Long repair time, dubious part replacement and repair....not good. read more

I took my Dyson Ball bagless canister vacuum cleaner in for a repair. They were supposed to be an authorized repair service center for Dyson. I had owned my Dyson for over 5 years, and never had a problem with it. Ryan's installed an after-market part, which they guaranteed for 90 days. Sure enough, the part lasted 93 days and they would not replace it for free. I threw the Dyson away and purchased a Meile, but not from Ryan's. I've also bought a high-end embroidery sewing machine, but not from Ryan's. They have permanently lost my business. read more

I just left Ryan's in tears,,, I bought a $1500.00 sewing machine from them in December. My issues did not repeat with the tech, Although he did see my bobbin that was not wound right. He pretty much looked at me and said did you take any classes? Well Yes I did, in the middle of a pandemic even. Then I said well you saw the bobbin, I wasn't making that up, He just condescendingly said, "Well I didn't see YOU wind it" Like go away, I don't have time for you and your issues with a 6 month old $1500.00 sewing machine you bought from us, It worked fine when I did it. No one else has ever had any issues with this machine. If you don't want the machine or want to sell it contact Mr Ryan. He was done with me.. They had already been paid so why bother with me... This is about the Santa Fe store- while they send your sewing machines out to Albuquerque for service, and the repairs/service is good, the customer service at this store is terrible. Twice I have had to go back to the store and pick up pieces of the machine that they left behind- once the foot and then the accessory box. They never call you when things are ready, even though the ABQ office says things have been sent and they "will call" from Santa Fe. When I went to get my machine this time (after I called to see if it was ready) it had been there for 3 weeks without them calling me. They act as if it is your fault they lost things... I hate leaving negative reviews, but I can't think of one positive thing to say about my experience with Ryan's. I took my sewing machine in for repairs in March. Was told I'd receive a call with an estimate for repairs. Fair enough. 2 weeks go by and nothing, so I call and ask if there's any news. I was told Ryan himself would call me. Within a day. Nothing. 2 more weeks with no call back so I stop in on my lunch break. The person there tells me Ryan has been working on my machine but is at lunch. They don't know anything more than that, but assured me he'd call when he was back in the building. Nothing. Another week goes by and I leave another message. Nothing. So this morning (May 5) I went in and picked up my untouched machine. The girl sort of apologized that it hadn't been worked on and I left. A little communication and a feeling I wasn't being blown off would've gone a long way. I have found another local business that promised me a call by mid week. We shall see. I'm looking to purchase another machine. You can rest assured it won't be from Ryan's. read more

Took my Eureka upright vacuum to Ryan's based on previous reviews. They ordered and attached a new handle which is fine. However...the belt that was attached and working OK was not attached when I picked it up - luckily I had an extra, but wish they had told me one was needed to replace the missing one. Also, the "button" used to lower or raise the roller brush was broken and cannot no longer be moved between high and low settings. Very disappointed in service - would have gladly purchased more replacement parts if I knew I would have needed them based on their recommendation. read more

I had a great experience in the vacuum department. I opened my Dyson vacuum to use it for the first time yesterday and a part was missing. I was feeling annoyed that I had to jump through hoops just to use my brand new vacuum (not to mention it took a while to figure out a part was missing). Dyson sent me to Ryan's and luckily this put my afternoon back on track. The young man at Ryan's helped me immediately, showed me the missing part and how to take it off and on, then helped me take the vacuum back out to my car. Plus he was very friendly. I didn't catch his name, but he mentioned he's a recent Ohio State grad that just returned to NM. I wish I could give him a shout out by name, but I'm sure the manager/owner will know who I am referencing. read more

I have had Ryan's help me out with two Dyson vacuum cleaners. They sold me the one I use presently. I had it serviced in February. They charge a reasonable rate. Since I purchased the vacuum from them they put me in the 'one week' return line. It's a nice reward for being a loyal customer. My vacuum cleaner was returned in beautiful condition. read more

If I could give negative stars, I would. After taking in our old machine for service, with poor results, we thought it was done for. So we bought another machine, from Ryan's. It was a used Brother, and we needed guidance on how to use it. We received very little. As I was sewing with it, I kept running into problems with the feed dogs. So I brought it in for service. After 6 weeks it still had not been looked at. Ryan told me it was probably just my inexperience with good machines, and that he knew PROFESSIONAL seamstresses who never complained about that machine. Bully for him and them, mine was a problem he did not look at or fix. I took both my old and newer machines to Abbey Lane, who was able to fix BOTH of them, in two weeks. My old machine, Ryan was supposed to have serviced... never done. That's why it was so noisy when I picked it back up from him and thought it doomed. Abbey Lane showed me the dry gears, explained the problem, serviced it properly, and it now purrs like a kitten. And the feed dog problem, they were stuck in a down position. Perhaps from a broken needle in the past(?) I was never able to break a needle as I was never able to get my fabric to move easily enough to sew. We bought a sewing machine, serger and scan and cut from Ryan's. I was told over and over about how Ryan has such special customers who spend a lot more money than we did. Again, Bully for them. This was a lot of money spent for anyone and I'm not interested in his "rich" customers. Ryan does not work on the machines because he's too busy trying to sell new ones. He's always on the floor acting like Captain Chaos and interfering with the genuine help you could get from the rest of the staff. Look at how many machines they have stacked up for repair. If you want to be lied to, mislead, conned and belittled, this is your man. If you want genuine help, repairs and professional work and attitudes, you might enjoy Santa Fe Sewing or Abbey Lane far better. Apparently those other centers cater to fabric crafts people/quilters/sewers more so than the rich machine collectors like Ryan so loves. read more

I took my machine to Ryan's because I was new to the area and needed my machine checked out. I took it in on a Saturday and was told that I would get a call with an estimate BEFORE they worked on the machine. On Friday, six days later, after not hearing from anyone, I called and was put on hold. A man came back on and told me they just finished my machine. I advise them that could not be possible as I did not authorize them to do any work. I went and picked up my machine that night and was told they did a tune up. I did not ask for that. I was given a 10% discount of $5.00. I did not ask for the discount. I would never go back here and I would advise everyone else to do the same. That is shady business practices and horrible customer service. read more

It should be zero stars. Terrible customer service, terrible technical service, the new owners do not give a s#%t about workmanship, they are rude and do not do the work they charge for. Should you question them, or call back, they either don't answer or leave you on hold ( over 25 minutes one time) . Lazy rude new owners, this place must be a front for something else because they are doing everything possible to run the vacuum and sewing business into the ground. DONT BUY A VACUUM HERE AND DONT BRING ONE IN FOR " service". I brought mine in and they " replaced the motor", " replaced the board" and replaced the on off switch-which broke while they had it. One thing they didn't fix or check was lack of suction, which is why I brought it in. So I paid for a " service" on a broken vacuum and they supposedly replaced the motor , but the vacuum still has weak suction. I don't think they did any work on it at all. This was a good store but some shady people bought it and now it's just a rip off. Save your money and go somewhere else. read more

They do not call you when your machine is ready with an estimate. They do this to people habitually. They also do not call you when your machine is completed and ready for pick up. They do not have normal good business practices. They do not know what to do if you point out the problem. There is surely another shop in town. Poor communication, non existent service! Ryan's had my serger for over 3 months, misplaced it , damaged it, and still didn't repair it. Similar experience as other reviewers. I was told by the tech that our vacuum would only take one day to fix. Fast-forward three weeks of calling to check only to find out it hadn't even been looked at each time, I finally got it baçk and the repairs were done well. I took in my sewing machine for routine maintenance this summer. They did not call me for a couple of weeks so one day when I was driving by I stopped and inquired if it was ready. They said they had called me to pick it up. They had not in fact called, but I picked up my machine and left. When I got home I realized that they had charged my credit card more than what the bill was. Although I was not happy with this it was only a dollar and not worth the time of driving back across town. Fast forward two months. I had a sewing project, so got out my machine only to realize that there was no bobbin assembly. They had not put the machine back together and pieces were missing. I returned to the shop with the machine and showed and explained the situation. They insisted that they always return the machines not only complete but with a swatch on it to verify the machine is working. I informed them that the machine I was showing them was exactly how it was returned to me. They insisted several more times and finally when I kept repeating that they had not replaced all the parts they said they would go review the video. They came out from the back and said they would replace the parts. Obviously they had not replaced the parts and had not even tested the machine to make sure it was in working order. They never offered an apology and treated my like I was lying. I pointed out the dollar mistake on the previous bill and they did refund me a dollar, again without an apology or explanation. I have never used Ryan's before, and will not do so again. I wish I had read all of the reviews before taking my sewing machine to them. It appears that customer service is not a strong suit and repairs are not what they want to be spending their time on. If you do choose to do business with Ryan's, be very vigilant and follow up on all aspects of what they are doing. Buyer beware. read more

I went to Ryan's to try and find a rubber gear driven belt similar to what you would find for a vacuum. I have a electric longboard witch uses belts to drive the wheel. I called everywhere in town some stores were helpful. Most of them didn't care to hear me out, because what I was looking for is something pretty much custom to my product. Stoney a employee there saw that this had nothing to do what they specialize in. But he still did everything in his power to try and help me. And he succeeded he found a belt that was a almost exact fit just a little thin. so he continued to look to find another so i could double it he even sat down with me taking apart my board and making sure the belts would work . Long story short Ryan's set the definition for going out of the way to help the customer. I don't sew but I do like my vacuums . I am a college student but you bet that once I have the money I will be bring my business to Ryan's for vacuums. read more

I have had two opportunities to deal with Ryan's recently, one for replacement of a belt on an old vacuum and one for troubleshooting a malfunctioning hard-floor cleaner. Though the belt for the old vacuum is no longer made, the tech at Ryan's was able to quickly identify an equivalent one from another manufacturer and replace it. In the second case, Ryan, himself, chose to look at the hard-floor cleaner and quickly identified and corrected the problem. I was impressed that they were willing to check my two items while I waited and, in both cases, were able to quickly fix them, for very reasonable cost. read more

Took my singer sewing machine in; it wasn't working, foot handle (up-down) wasn't working and fabric wasn't being fed thru. I thought I'd have to buy a new machine. These people were very honest, and fixed my machine. It needed cleaning and lubricating. The cost was nominal, especially compared to a new machine. They were very nice, "Suki" was very nice and good customer service. The store has A LOT of sewing stuff and also vacume cleaners and supplies. I will return there for my Miehle vacume supplies too. It is a good store, I will recommend to anyone too. Also while there, I saw the staff helping customers with sewing machine instructions, and they were very patient and nice.
