    Exeter Carpet Company

I tried Lowe's and Home Depot, and I'm so glad I went with Exeter Carpet Company. When I called…read moreLowe's they had a deaf person handling the phones. I had to repeat my phone number 4 times in slow-motion. I finally hung up, in disgust. I thought I was being punked. The Home Depot staff were great, but the person they hired to do the estimate wanted me to take out a whole drawer and shelf unit out of the closet, even though it never touched the ground!! Sure, it would take some work to put the rug underneath 15 feet of closet, but come on! They also refused to remove the carpet because it had stains (which is why we needed a new carpet!). Hello?? So, I went with Mike. I did some ground work preparation by getting rid of the rug and pads myself, and taking out all of the staples. I wanted to be sure that the floor was a flat surface and not a pad built upon tufts of old rug and staples. It took me a long time to do it, which suggests that it might not have been done, so I'm glad I did it myself. Well, actually, I got some college kids to do it for me. Mike discounted the price for my prepping for the rug. They installed the rug today, and I'm so happy. When my mother returns, she'll have a whole new bedroom equipped for her old age, looking fresh and new. I'm so happy. My only advice is to be patient. Mike does the work, himself and is likely on jobs when you call him. Be patient, and he'll get around to you. I'm pleased with the selection of the rug and we paid for extra padding, and it feels so good under my feet. My guess is that I'll be hanging out more in my Mom's room, now!

My March 27 review at least got some action--a message from the owner. The only contact from him, I…read moremight add, except to ask me to consider taking down the review and promising complete satisfaction. The job was finished on April 15, 19 days after the review. The appearance is acceptable. Granted, matching my old woodwork was difficult and they tried very hard to come up with a satisfactory solution including replacing the wood--twice and sanding and refinishing the stairs (at my expense). The contract warns of unforseen problems with the subflooring. That cost me an extra $5400. I was warned that the walls might be damaged, and they were. I was warned that the moldings might be damaged, and they were. On the bright side, the workmen were friendly and considerate and they worked very hard. My salesperson was also very pleasant and tried very hard to provide a positive outcome.

One month since initial contact and no carpet installation date to show for it. I recommend finding…read moreanother business, especially if you are hoping to get carpet installed on a tight timeline. I reached out to them on 11/25 for a move in date of 12/28, hoping to get carpets installed before then and figured we had plenty of time as it was more than a month out. We scheduled an initial appt for 12/5 and I made sure they knew when the move in date was. 10 mins after the appointment start time and only after I had called to see if anyone was still coming, a friendly rep arrives to take estimates. I inform them up front that we will want a few variations of quotes as we figure out which rooms we want to cover now versus possibly later, and again, when our move in date actually is. 12/10 we get a couple of quotes. We ask them to look at more flooring samples. My partner goes in to grab sample boards on 12/14, we ask for a final configuration of 2 quotes and they send one on 12/17, and the second one on 12/19 after I checked in with them again on 12/18. They only get carpet installs on Tuesdays and Fridays and initially claimed to be able to do it over the weekend of 12/21, but when we pushed them about actually scheduling a day, especially since move in date was imminent, they claimed it would be 12/27 and 12/28. After we reminded them 12/28 wouldn't work since that's move in day, they said 12/26-12/27. It wouldn't have surprised me if something else would've come up that pushed things back by another couple weeks. Their internal communication and organization seems to leave a lot to be desired - there was even one point where the rep who'd visited our home prior called me thinking I was a different client. One of my biggest pet peeves is when a party who has been dragging their feet through an entire process turns around to tell you "timing is crucial". No apologies for delays or indications of surprise on their end when we inform them we will not be continuing with their business. What a waste of stress and time during an already harried period of moving.

Depending on your…read morepriorities, you may list these differently, but I can guarantee they all are values that B&C Flooring exemplify as a trusted business. 1. Communication= will someone answer my telephone call, text or email with any question before, during or after installation? 2. Knowledge= does this business know about the product, manufacturer, or are they just a good sales person? 3. Price= is the price competitive with other quotes? 4. Installation = Is the installer someone that is a regular and known for quality work? 5. on time= the appointment to measure, materials delivery, scheduled installation? I'm a "white glover" and expect reasonable cleanup during and after a job is completed. Well, Installers Todd and Bailey did more than a reasonable cleanup! i am exceptionally happy with my new floors!

Outstanding experience with Carol And Brett At B&C Flooring. I was certain I wanted a grey color…read moretile but was undecided when I came into their showroom. I was helped by Brett at first and he showed me lots of different styles.. still undecided I came back the next day and Carol layed them out on the floor and gave me a good minds eye visual and she picked the same one Brett did..so ..great minds think alike. I was having trouble with my contractor so they fit me into their schedule to have them installed while I was on vacation "perfect" I was thrilled to see after a few days how beautiful they looked. For a bit extra I opted for the radiant heat pad for under the tiles to keep the floor warm in winter. Thanks Carol and Brett
