I needed some Lady Tafy to bring to my daughters house while I was on vacation . S & S Candy & Cigar was one of the few places to have a large container in stock. They also had the best price anywhere that included Walmart. S&S was a lot cheaper than Walmart and Target. The only problem I had was that they advertised a certain price on there e website and they had a higher price in store. They also would not honor the price on the website they said it was an error????? That is not good business. The staff where friendly and helpful other than for the price. As the pries there where amazing I definitely will go again. read more

Holy fat boy heaven. This place has so many options for everyone. Ended up stopping in twice while in town over the weekend. Had the gum balls I bought as a kid that are extremely hard to get. Also had chocolate covered potato chips which I love. Buddies and I finished one package the first day. Also bought some smarties lollipops that I remember from the ice cream truck growing up. This place is CLASSIC. When I was a kid, there were a lot more candy stores around. It seems as if they are a dying breed and that makes the kid in me quite sad. Well this place is a child's dream.. not to mention an adult's dream as well. They have TONS of candy- everything you can think of, in bulk or individually. They have tons of chips and other snacks and they have a huge tobacco selection as well. Darn a cigar....they have candy....everywhere! Although I drive by this place regularly, it was an out of towner that told me to stop here. I walked in and that cotton candy sugary smell hit me. I saw every flavor and shape of gummy candy available. They had a nice selection of the penny candy type (not a penny but you know what I mean). They also had snack foods like popcorn, chips, soft pretzels, slushies and more. There was a nice line forming at the lottery counter that was manned by a nice lady who seemed to really enjoy her work. There were some nice candy collectible type items for the Star Wars and Hello Kitty fans. To the left of the entrance is an area where they have every color of gumball you could want. What can one say about this place? Well, I'll tell ya... Candy Candy Candy...oh and they have cigarettes and things related to smoking. I've never smoked so that stuff being there doesn't even phase me. I prefer getting lost in the candy. This Pittsburgh fixture has stood the test of time with sweet and yummy offerings and the best in customer service. Mom & Pop elevated to the next level. Not long ago I took someone there that had never been. The woman working the specialty candy (weddings, parties, etc) heard our conversation and came round from her area to welcome him with a free piece of chocolate. Why haven't more people reviewed this place? Is it because it's a mixture of two things we are taught to be bad for us at different ages? Is it because the building looks ominous as you walk towards it. Or is it because people are too lazy to discover this place? Whatever the reason, shame people, shame. I've never really paid attention while I was in here much, except for today. As I looked around my eyes widened. I was...a kid in a candy store! Literally. Candy, candy everywhere. Candy that will take you back to your childhood and maybe even further than that. I definitely practiced good self control in here, or else I would have been broke by the time I walked out the door. Yes, I admit, I also ventured back to the "adult" section. Selection is vast. Prices are some of the best, even better than the local corner market or gas station. Staff were rather fun to deal with. S&S is a Pittsburgh Legend! Not even losing an entire wall of the store can keep them down. It's true-Google it! The have an awesome selection of cigars ( not the largest- that distinction belongs to Blooms on 12th street ), but their prices are the best around. I can't say they 'know their stuff' when it comes to cigars but face it- you're not going in there to ask the difference between a Macanudo and a Monticristo... The cigars are always fresh and they are always 'over-the-top' friendly. I buy here every time I need to stock up. And when it comes to candy & snacks- this place can't be beat. They have ALL you need to add to the kids lunches with their multi-packs and bundles... Their 'Candy by the pound' store will make you think you're still in the 50's... I found wonderous treats that I haven't seen in years! From peanut chews to lipstick taffy, I bought the freshest peach gummi rings I've ever enjoyed and got a free sample. The staff is awesome and the selection of gummy bear flavors is bananas! (And mangoes and cherries too lol). read more

I've stopped in a couple of times to buy Brach jelly beans. Usually the clerk is very friendly and offers to go downstairs to bring them up as they are not usually on display. Stopped in today - the woman behind the counter said they didn't have them - it's not yet Easter. I explained that the last couple of times someone went downstairs to get them for me. She said "well, I'd have to go down and open a box". I said 'thanks anyway' - she responded - "well I can go and open one if you want". Great spot! Perfect for adults and children both. Amazing selection, attentive staff, clean place..really nice all around. They have stuff here I haven't seen in 25 years..a lot of the obscure penny candy we went crazy any over as kids. They feature a soda fountain, custom candy, and tobacco counters as well. Excellent excellent selection very friendly staff and the best part..gummies. Seeing as I love gummy candy I was immediately attracted to their selection which was big to say the least.
