Not what we expected based on previous reviews but a decent place to grab a beer. The bar staff was friendly. Beer was somewhat cold on a 90 degree day. The food truck is actually a set up kitchen next to a building so no actual 'truck' to be found. Food menu was confusing, we ordered & paid then got approached & told it was more money than what we were charged...? Lots of kids if you like that sort of thing. I really love what they are doing here. I was already a fan of the farm/brewery combo. Then I went to visit the brewery - double win. I went on a Friday night. We grabbed a beer and then walked around a bit. The sun was shining, the beer was good, and the scenery was lovely. We eventually got something to eat from the food truck that was there that night. It was a perfect evening to be outside. There are lots of tables outside for those nice spring/summer days when you just want to be in the sun. When you want to be inside, the converted barn is also a great space - nice lighting, lots of tables, clean bathrooms. It's really cool inside. Driving here seems strange because you are on this little road with houses and lots of trees, and you question if you have the correct address. Then it suddenly opens up and you see the farm. The farm was really a ways out there and I kinda felt like, "Where are we?". But......this place was PACKED. I mean cars everywhere. I couldn't believe how many people had driven down that same road and come here. Clearly everyone has heard how wonderful this spot is. There seems to be music every weekend and rotating food trucks. S&S Brewery is a cool upstate spot to enjoy local beers, rotating food trucks, live music and heated outdoor and indoor seating. They have their own beers on tap and offer them in pitchers! The brewery is very short on pitchers and the staff were frequently circling the tables to grab empty pitchers so they could continue serving other customers. It's surprising that a brewery could have such a low stock of pitchers. We got delicious poutine and tacos from the food trucks to complete our meal. We love the fall vibes and the outdoor tent is comfortably spacious for small groups. This is the perfect activity for a fall weekend before the winter snow hits! read more

We love this Brewery and have been going for over 5 years now but I thought they could use a recent review. My husband is from south Germany and this is the only place locally that reminds him of a proper Bier Garten. They simply brew excellent, clean beer! A beautiful tranquil setting in middle of a charming family farm. They have been diligently putting their profits back into the business and every couple months they expand- new outdoor seating, new brew barn, covered stage, lights in the parking light, playground for kids.... When I heard about this place; I sure didn't know what to expect at all. Never expected anything so wonderful out in Nassau near where I live. S and S is only open on Friday's from 6-9. They don't have their own food which is fine because every week they have a different food truck come in. Along with that a different band or one musician. It's a great place to hang with friends or meet some new ones. Everyone is very friendly to talk to. There are many beers on tap so you'll have your pickings. I had a good conversation with one of the owners who was very nice and he told me they are open all year long which I wouldn't have guessed it being out to me in the middle of nowhere. (the country life indeed) But plainly beautiful. My second time there I noticed a lot of people come and go with their growlers and many stay for the music, the beer and to be social. Beer: 10/10, comparable to the very best I have ever had from any microbrewery anywhere (and I lived in the land of Hill Farmstead and the Alchemist Brewery, not to mention bigger players like Switchback and Otter Creek, etc). If you are into IPAs there is something for you, and if you are NOT, there is ALSO something for you, which is exciting these days. $5 pints which I find totally reasonable. Food: Unrateable; everything I have ever had here has been 10/10 but they have kind of a rotating cast of food trucks and I can't vouch for all of them. But still. EXCELLENT. Atmosphere: 10/10. Srsly. Old farm, sit outdoors at picnic tables or indoors in a rustic brewery sort of vibe. There's always live music, so sometimes that is....meh.....but that is how it goes when you are bringing in little-known local talent, so whining about it would make you a you-know-what. Anyway, you will love it here if you have even one single drop of hipster blood inside of you. Summation: If you live anywhere near Nassau, and have any kind of good taste, I can't recommend this place enough. We had dinner from the food trucks and as a person who doesn't really care for beer I LOVED the raspberry wheat! This is the perfect place to stop by when there's nothing going on for your Friday night. This brewery hides away on a farm down some roads that seem like you might be headed in the wrong direction. Then a large parking lot pops up with people milling around, and we finally knew we were in the right place. The place was packed by people that discovered how amazingly solid it was ages before we did. Sampled several of their beers and all were solid representations of their kind. Really liked a take on one of their brown ales that had some smokey flavors imbibed within. There was a bbq stand setup that was selling plates of delicious looking bbq to people. There was a great band playing and families, couples, friends, were all sitting around chatting. This place is warm and inviting. Beer is excellent. Can't wait to go back on warmer summer nights when I can sit outside and enjoy their lovely brews. read more

This was our second visit to this four year old family owned brewery. The location is a former dairy farm. The brewery bar is a renovated space that was previously a milking parlor. The eight different beers from pils to stouts are brewed on the premises with barley and hops grown on their property. Music by Far North (Roots & Americana) was here this evening from 6-9pm. The band is popular with locals who filled the space on this rainy Friday evening Feb. 23, 2018. I estimated that there was in excess of 100 people there this evening, including a large birthday party. This place was enabled by the NYS farm brewery legislation 2010. Due to this they can sell their products for on premises consumption and growlers to go. And also cannot operate as a restaurant (different tax & operating criteria). So that being said, there are ways to eat while enjoying these finely crafted brews. People bring snacks or birthday cake and even multiple pizzas with them. The brewery also features food trucks which sells their food as an independent operator. This evening in was Uncle Sammy's Food Truck. Offered a limited menu of five choices. This truck has been partnering with the taproom even on the sparse crowd nights of winter in Upstate NY. This night they did have some sell outs and were backed up 45 minutes. I will not pass judgement due to only a one night observation. All short comings are an opportunity to learn. Back to the beers. All 12 oz. drafts are $5.00 and they offer NYS wine and local favorite Nine Pin Cider. Well worth the visit and we plan to return again during the summer when we can enjoy the outdoors. This place is completely out of my way, but I'm going to be making excuses to get over here more often. It's only open on Friday's but it's a good way to spend your Friday night. They have a bunch of incredible beers on TAP, they had a live band and a pop up food vendor. I loved the vibe here, you could tell that most of the crowd spent every Friday here, they came out and staked out tables, brought bags of snacks (those are my kind of people), and were ready to dance. While it said on facebook that it was open at 6, we got there a little before and it was already 1/2 full. Within the next hour it got extremely crowded, but they are prepared with multiple bar staff so the wait for your beer is never long! Absolutely recommend checking it out, I'm excited to see what it's like when the weather gets nicer too! read more

I think it'll be easier to focus on why I went for four stars instead of five instead of giving you glowing recommendations for their beer, which is some of the best across the board. They are only open once a week - so it's hard to get there when they're open. There's a nice vibe in summer when you can go outside, but let me tell you - it gets PACKED inside during the colder months (to the point where I wanted more beer, but couldn't figure out how to even get back up to the bar through the crowd). Go when it's nice out or get there early if you'd like to sit at one of the tables. We were introduced to the farm several years ago now and go as often as we can. Yes, the lines can be long at times but the beer is worth the wait. Recently, a second night was added and eases some congestion on Friday nights. If you want to go out with friends for a good beer and a good time, this is the place for you. Located outside the village of Nassau up on Jefferson Hill rd. Driving on the road to the brewery amongst the farms and rolling hills lies the S&S Brewery. They have a great selection of beer they make on the premise. I had their haystack blonde which is their light beer. Very good and smooth with a nice amber color. They have plenty of outdoor seating with limited indoor seating. You can enjoy your beer and food under the tent or stars with mini bonfires lighting up the outside. If you hungry, the food trucks are there. One truck has typical American foods like burgers, fries, mozzerella sticks. The other was a taco truck. And by the way great tacos too. S&S is open Fri and Sat from 5 to 9. Also they are open seasonally. The atmosphere is very mellow and relaxed with soulful live music played. They have different food trucks each week and different musicians too. This place is great! I found it about a year ago and have been many times since. The staff is very nice and helpful, and they have created a great family atmosphere. My wife and I love coming here on Friday nights after a long week of work to enjoy an amazing beer. Lame Llama is our favorite! Our routine is for my wife to get a bag of Goldfish crackers from the bar, and I swear they have never charged us for them once. I wish I could give this dump a zero star review. The place was littered with debris and only had one bathroom which isn't even up to health code. Finding out that this place organized a bogus fundraiser last fall to raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma society and instead pocketed it themselves. Not only is that despicable but illegal. Looking at their electrical wiring it's evident that they don't even have the power to facilitate any brewing. The fact that they wouldn't give myself or friends a tour seemed very suspicious to me. I doubt they make any of their own beer but sell other people's beer as their own. Hopefully this place gets shut down since it obviously doesn't even make any beer and has bogus fundraisers to benefit themselves. read more

S and S is located on a former dairy farm a little bit south of the Village of Nassau. They are taking advantage of the various breaks afforded to farm breweries that make ingredients such as hops and barley on site. they have a variety of beers and ales available, some of which are available at a small number of local pubs and restaurants. On site, they have a tap room which is open for a limited number of hours each week. regular hours are 6-9pm Friday night. Additionally, they have just started a series of special events under the name The Listening Room, the first of which was a week ago (7-10pm on Saturday nights.) These are not weekly, check the website for times. They also have limited seating, so buying tickets in advance is probably essential (on Fridays you can just walk in). food service is generally provided by external catering organizations; on this past friday night, the East Chatham Food Company was serving up several items, including a very good Pulled Pork sandwich. for The Listening Room, the $20 charge included a plate of cheeses and sausages from local sources. S and S generally has acoustic music anytime they're open, generally in a folk vein. The Listening Room events are built around the music. The beers and ales available are extensive and include some guest brews from other local breweries. We have tried 4 of the S and S brews. My wife prefers the Old 82 Ale as it is very lightly hopped. the Pils is a nice example of the type, and i've tried two of the IPAs, Eternal Sunshine and Luna. I find i'm taking home growlers full of the Eternal Sunshine. We really like this place and will certainly be going back. read more
