This was my second time here and I was reminded of how great it is. We were in town at the fairgrounds and opted to come here for lunch, close by and easy parking. We took advantage of the beautiful day and enjoyed the patio, it's a really nice space inside and out. The service was great from start to finish and felt very welcomed by the staff. Of course I opted for a flight, it is a brewery after all. I chose a selection of IPAs and enjoyed them all. The first time I came here was for a yelp event and we got to try all the burgers, they were amazing! My friend ordered a burger and it looked amazing, she enjoyed it. The fries were also house made and very well done, I snagged a few. I was craving wings and I had a feeling they would have great ones, and they did. They were perfectly tender and moist with a great crisp, the medium sauce was spot on, even the blue cheese was great. I was intrigued by the fried asparagus so I ordered that too, they were huge! The tempura batter was so light and crispy, the asparagus was cooked nicely inside and was still a bit crisp and the sauces were perfect, both went so good with the dish. These also reheated super well when I brought them home as left overs. This is a perfect place to stop when you're in Chatham. Beer, food and service is top notch. read more

Adding a new review to update. The first time we went to this brewery was amazing. Excellent food, service, atmosphere and beer. The second time was very mediocre. Food was not great. Much smaller portions AND raised prices. You can do one or the other, not both. Service was mediocre and all three of us left hungry. Took over two hours just to get food and drinks to our table. 3.75 We weren't too hungry, but it was lunchtime, and this place was recommended by the owner of the Airbnb we were staying at, so we decided to check it out. When you walk in, it looks like a typical bar--nice large bar in the middle with TVs behind it. It seemed to be a local favorite, judging by the crowd. Beer-wise, we tried the Strawberry Blonde Farmer's Daughter and the Czech'rd Past. Both were okay--typical microbrewery taste. Food-wise, we ordered the cauliflower wings (hot & Thai chili), Nacho Average Brew, and the fried pickles. The fried pickles were a nice surprise since they use spears instead of the usual chips. I wish the cauliflower wings were a bit crispier. I know they lose crispiness once the sauce is on, but they were a bit soggy when they came out. I definitely recommend the Thai chili flavor though. As for the nachos--they definitely aren't your average nachos. We added beef, which turned out to be chopped-up burger. Combined with arugula, it was a bit of an odd combination. read more

We loved it and when we found out that the brewery was nearby and had won NYs Best Burger, we knew we had to go. All the food was excellent as was the beer. I got a build your own burger, liked the options they had but like I said the burger was cold and there wasn't a patty shape of meat it was like meatballs. Nearly a decade later and this is still my family's all time favorite spot in the area. The beers are excellent (especially the mango and pineapple bombogenesis DIPAs) and the food is generally great. They partner with local farms for their meat and produce, and the dishes are inventive and hearty. My family absolutely loves the burgers and sweet potato fries. The only disappointments to date were a chickpea curry and a crispy Brussels sprouts dish that had a lot of toppings and was just trying to do too much. We've enjoyed Chatham Brewing beers for many years everywhere except in Chatham at the brewery. After a pleasant Saturday drive through some Massachusetts towns, a return route to home through Chatham offered us the opportunity to rectify this situation. There is a good-sized public parking lot adjacent to the brewery and following the posted instructions to see the bartender about outdoor seating, we scored the one remaining vacant patio picnic table. With so many draft choices to choose from, flights of four for $15 were called for. My eyes quickly spied the lower section of the menu titled "Darker Options." "Darker" is apparently quite relative here. Certainly no argument from me regarding the Dry Irish Stout. But Farmer's Daughter (IPA-rye) and Tasty Spring Lager (Vienna lager) do not qualify as "darker" in my book. Fortunately, I've always been a fan of Farmer's Daughter and the Vienna lager was quite good on a hot day. To finish off my flight I tried the Paleo (pale ale) which might have actually been my favorite of the four. My wife's flight repeated the Farmer's Daughter and the Dry Irish Stout and added a Hefeweizen and an O.G. Extra IPA, the O.G. being the most outstanding to her taste. Zucchini Fries ($12) were a special this day and seemed like a good pairing for our flights while we waited for our main course. These hand-battered and breaded fries were supper crispy and tasty on the outside but had little texture and flavor on the inside. With the addition of the jalapeño aioli for dipping, which was not very spicy, I had no difficulty finishing them. We both ordered another special of the day, the Chelsea Burger ($21) made with a Trowbridge Farm beef patty, mozzarella, pesto aioli, balsamic glaze, applewood smoked bacon, lettuce, tomato, and pickle. Hand cut fries were also included as a side - my wife chose regular while I went with sweet potato ($2 surcharge). While both of our burgers were ordered medium-rare, neither one showed any pink. There didn't seem to be anything outstanding to the flavor of the meat, but the entire combination of ingredients and flavor, including the fresh sesame seeded buns, were very satisfying. Did I almost forget to mention how crispy and tasty the bacon was? Service was friendly and attentive considering a shortage of staff and the number of customers both inside and outside. Beer, wings and french fries! Name a better combo...I'll wait. Great first visit to Chatham Brewing, located on such a quaint street. I visited mid week during spring break. The bar had a couple groups. The bartender, Kate, was attentive and friendly. I tried a flight first. The Hefeweizen and Nor Eastah, IPA, were my favorites. Ok beer, wings, french fries and pizza is the ultimate combo, but this was definitely well deserving of 5 stars, even without pizza. I'd like to visit again and enjoy the outdoor seating! read more

All the better, since there was shade to sit under outside at their tables! There is a little bit of a breeze from the inside. Horrible experience.. I ordered a beer and burger tonight. Waitress told me the beer was a hazy ipa, I've never had a bad beer before in my life and tonight was the first time! It tasted like a tainted seltzer water. It was actually shocking how bad it was. I thought hm maybe just a bad line. So then I ordered a "NY best burger".... Unbelievably disappointing.. the meat had no flavor, I received plain cucumbers on the burger instead of pickles. I took two bites and ended up just eating the bun because the meat tasted horrible. Just three months after these guys started brewing they won a bronze medal at a prestigious New York City beer festival for their porter. That set their bar pretty high and based on yesterday's their overall quality is still pretty darned high. They had 12 beers and one hard cider on tap. I really liked that the beers represented all brewing styles and was not lasered in on just IPAs, like so many breweries seem to be. They had one pilsner, one Gose Sour, one Wheat Ale, two IPAs, three Double IPAs, two lagers, one Porter, one Stout, and a hard apple cider from 9 Pin Cidery in Albany. I went with an "all non-IPA flight" of Czech'rd Past Pilsner (ABV 4.5%; 24 IBU), Raspberry Wheat Ale (ABV 5%), Local Hero Lager (4.5% ABV) and Oktoberfest Marzen Style Lager (5.5% ABV; 40 IBU). The truth is I LOVED every single drop of them all. To my palate, the Raspberry Wheat Ale was the winner -smooth, drinkable, refreshing and delicious. It was kind of perfect! And so was the food, because Chatham Brewery has a full kitchen and some great choices. Our party of four split wo appetizers a "Special of the Day" Cauliflower Bites (breaded and fried florets tossed with your choice of the wing sauces, and a regular menu choice - Fried Green Tomato Caprese ($9) for "Corn meal breaded green tomatoes topped with melted fresh mozzarella, fresh basis, extra virgin olive oil, balsamic reduction." They were both top notch -especially the cauliflower which were tossed in our sauce of choice- Apple barbecue. This was outstanding. For lunch I ordered the Stoutwurst & Frites ($12) for "Chatham stout infused sausage, hand cut truffle fries, curry Chatham, with semi-grain mustard". I loved it too -the sausages were perfectly cooked and tasted great, the fries were amazing, the curry flavored ketchup was excellent, and my oh my did that mustard have a kick! An unbelievably amateurish dining operation. We were a party of four, and arrived at 5:30 pm, hoping to grab dinner on a Sunday evening before the 7 o'clock show at a local theatre. The waitress - to her credit - was honest, and told us that getting a burger or salad would take 'at least an hour' because the 'kitchen was backed up.' The beer is next level and they filter it so no soupy, hazy, cloudy laggers or wheats or IPA's that are loaded with residual yeast that cause disasterous gastrointestinal explosions hours after drinking them- a personal thank you to any microbrewery's that have chosen the wise investment of a filtering apparatus for their beers! I don't know why I thought that Chatham Brewing was operated out of someone's garage. Maybe it used to be, once upon a time. I'm old. Time moves quickly. Perhaps I missed a press release. Or perhaps this building was a garage in a former life. Whatever the case, Chatham Brewing is not located in a garage. It has its own free standing building on a darling little strip of downtown Chatham. I rolled in late on a Saturday night in search of a Capital Craft Beverage Trail stamp. Really, I should have picked up a four pack to go. But the brewery was crowded, and I didn't see the small refrigerator which in addition to the brewery's own beer had some cans of Yesfolk Tonics. So I grabbed a seat at the bar, and nursed a pint while catching up on some email. Yep. Saturday night. Email. This is the exciting life I lead. It was cold, and late, so I felt like a dessert beer. And I wanted something without too much alcohol, because I had to drive home. The maple amber was the perfect choice. People watching was fun. There was one customer, I couldn't tell what went down, but he clearly got under the bartender's skin. It was probably the most civilized display of kicking out a customer I've seen. Bravo to the team. Heading back into the restrooms, I saw the window into Chatham Brewing's production facility. Wow! That was bigger than I expected. Definitely wouldn't fit in a garage. I hear the menu has some good stuff on it too--I hear they have a Trowbridge Farm beef burger--but I arrived too late for food. And besides, I wasn't particularly hungry. It would be a fantastic stop before a movie at the cute old theater across the street. And that way, it would be easier to make a day trip, or at least convince a kid to come along for one of Daddy's beer adventures. read more

Five of us, who frequent many Hudson Valley restaurants, left perplexed at the prices. A tiny, and I mean tiny (3"bowl) of ceaser salad cost a whopping $7!! I wish the server would have told us that, as we would have sent it back. There was no price of that listed on the menu. I got a grilled basic chicken sandwich that was not tasty in the least, and subbed the same tiny small bowl instead of fries, and they charged me an extra $3 for that, which was listed on the menu. But does that measly little bit of lettuce, croutons and dressing cost that much more than some fries? So many other places around here let you just sub the fries for a healthy salad choice with zero add on price. With all the little add ons here, we were disappointed. The positive is that the beer is good and the mac and cheese was very tasty, but this place will be a never again for us. read more

I have enjoyed Chatham's beers for some time--their Farmers' Daughter Rye IPA is an absolute standout of that style--and had been looking forward to visiting the taproom for some time. Dinner was unfortunately quite disappointing. I started with an Oktoberfest beer (tasty) and I ordered the wunder burger with blue cheese and onions. Requested medium and it came out charred and well overcooked which disappointed me to begin with. But then I frankly thought this might be better, as the burger tasted a bit off. But I was starving and still had a good hour plus drive ahead of me, so got extra ketchup and plowed through. Let's just say I barely made it to my destination upstate, and really didn't feel well that night and even into the next morning. The figurative and literal bad taste in my mouth left me little doubt as to the cause. I'm really trying to be patient and understanding in this period, and grateful places are still open. The service felt slow and abrupt (took a while to get that extra ketchup), but it's such a tough time for workers, I get that. So I'll try to look on the bright side and say they have good beer and you should get some here or to go. But unfortunately I'd personally recommend only going for the beer, and dining elsewhere. read more

my review is a bit delayed, I hesitate to leave poor reviews. my husband and I are longtime locals. but we don't drink thus understandably never came here before. but my grown daughter was visiting in April 2024, so we came here to try it for dinner for fun. this place always seems busy at dinner time, a good sign. since we only drank water and iced tea I won't comment on drinks, only on our food. Prices were as expected for a trendy brewpub. The brussel sprout appetizer was ok, very rich but different. But the entrees were not a good experience at all. I had a salmon dish, my husband had fish and chips, my daughter had a chicken dish. All our dinners were dripping with grease. Not a bit of crispness in any of the fried things, even the French fries were soggy and oily. The battered fish was two very large pieces, greasy and mushy, immediately falling apart. My salmon was tasteless except for tasting like French fries. When we got home I looked up some recent reviews and was alarmed by the lady who got food poisoning from her moldy salmon dinner... only a couple weeks before mine. But for the luck of timing, could have been me. Just sooo much grease and oil. Maybe I'm out of touch concerning what makes great "brewpub food", or maybe one really needs to drink beer to cut the grease. We are three very healthy people, but we all had to stay close to the bathroom at home for the next eight hours. It was like some TikTok detox where you drink a pint of olive oil. Or, a human JiffyLube. A great place if one is suffering from constipation maybe...you'll be cured in an hour. Sorry, but just reporting our experience.
