Yummy kolaches. I've been going here several times a week since I found it. It is very close to my house and it's on my way to work. I usually pick up a half dozen kolaches ($6) for my coworkers and the very nice couple throws in some free donuts. Their apple fritters are really good too. What a lovely surprise on my move-in day to discover that S&H donuts is a stone's throw from my house. Stoked! But also dangerous. I'm going to get fat just by proximity to these awesome donuts. So my partner and I went there on a Wednesday morning at 10:30 because of all the reviews here on yelp when I walked in it looks like every other donut place in Austin that closes early and sells kolachis. let me tell you the tacos they cook the eggs with the tacos which is the secret to a good one I mean it's all store-bought but it's like the best cheapest trashy taco I've ever had. And the packet of Law Victoria salsa that comes with it just completes the package. Now I had an apple fritter and let me tell you it's probably the craziest most amazing greasiest sugary fried apple fritter and existence. So yeah go check it out I'll get it five stars read more

Some of the best donuts I have had. I tend to just go for the plain chocolate donuts, but I have tried the others stuff they have and they are good. The donuts are just so light and Airy(i think that is the word I am looking for). And the prices are awesome as well. People in Austin praise just about anything because they're drunk and high when they ate there, and so of course it was amazing. SH donuts is Shipley's quality level on donuts; they're light, fluffy and not drenched in oil or sugar beyond what is flavorful. Among your regular joe donuts, these are great. The kolaches are nothing special. The ones I had, labeled PIG, were hot dogs in sweet dough. I would not bother again for those calories. If you want a comparable outlet, Christie's in Houston or a good Shipley's (Memorial Park area) would be on point. I'd definitely take SH over any of the Austin donut outlets I've experience so far, most of which were at grocery store level of donut making but often more stingy on the sugar and less stingy on the fat, which can make for a stomach blorp no one should experience. read more

Glad I stopped by and grabbed donuts from this joint. The family that owns this place are extremely sweet and full of energy in the morning. The donuts here are amazing. The dough is light and fluffy and the glaze is perfect. Normally I can't eat more than two donuts without feeling sick because of all the dough and sugar, but I felt as if I could have eaten half a dozen of these easily. Yes as previous review said it's in sketchy part of town but SH donuts are delicious, looks sketchy but safe. The owner is always very friendly and remembers her customers. Always greets us with a warm welcome. If using CC there is a $5 minimum-simply a heads up not a problem though to get to $5 with all the great donuts and kolaches to choose from. This place has the best donuts in town. Skip the trip to Miss Johnson's or Round Rock Donuts and go straight to SH Donuts- they're way better. And the best part about it is that it's right down the street from my house. This makes SH Donuts very dangerous because their donuts are so good, and so close that I could literally eat their fried dough every day...and turn into a fat little donut....but this should express to you how good they are. It occupies what looks to be an old gas station so while it may not look that impressive from the outside, do not judge this book by its cover. You must go inside and try their donut holes (my personal favorite), twisted glazed, old fashion's, kolaches, croissant breakfast sandwiches, and breakfast tacos. Their breakfast tacos are DELICIOUS, and we often skip the trip to El Chilito in favor of SH. The people who work there are very proud of their business and the food they serve. The place is always super clean and the owners full of smiles. Just this morning the owner greeted us with high-5's. They exude joy and you can taste the love they put in their food. I've recently embarked on a personal journey to discover the best donut shop in Austin, TX and I must say that SH Donuts has won my approval as the BEST Donut Shop in Austin, TX! Why is SH Donuts the best? First, the DONUTS! I tried the Apple Fritter (or Bear Claw) and the Original Old Fashioined donut and both were delicious! The Apple Fritter is seriously the tastiest I've ever had the pleasure of eating! Also, the KOLACHES are amazing! Second, the customer service! The owners are honestly the most welcoming people I've encountered in Austin, TX since I first moved here in 2007! They welcome you as soon as you walk through the door with a huge smile and sincere appreciation to learn how you're doing on the day you chose to visit them! I walked into SH Donuts in a decent mood and walked out with a sense of bliss! SH Donuts is a traditional donut shop that is a role model to all other donut shops in America! DELICIOUS! I promise, these are the best donuts in Austin....well, actually the best I've had anywhere really. They are light and fluffy... and to die for! I have bought these for meetings and everyone just loves them as much as I do. The kolaches, croissant sandwiches and tacos are just as delish! I come here once a week even though they are about a 20 minute drive for me in the mornings. They are also very inexpensive, $7 for a dozen mixed donuts and $1.25 for donut holes! WHAT!!
