Parking is limited -- only a few narrow spots outside. Okay wow. The ube ice cream here is out-of-this-world. Came here with my hubby and two toddlers and we got one cone to share (the kids just get a little bit). This is usually enough but I felt like I wanted MORE. It was so creamy and flavorful. We kept it simple -- fish cone with nutella and ube soft serve. We had the option of swirling it with a milk tea ice cream but it had a little bit of caffeine so no good. Glad the choice was made for us -- the ube was perfect on its own. Also happy we skipped the toppings since the creaminess really came through. They sell mochi donuts too -- they were pretty good but not as good as the ice cream. Parking is limited but we had no issue snagging a spot at 430pm on a Sunday. Made a visit to OMG Squee, a gluten-free Asian American Dessert Shop, serving Asian-inspired desserts, pastries, butter mochi donuts, taiyaki soft serve, and more made in-house, from scratch. I was craving Ube and might have gone a bit overboard on ordering dessert because they had so many Ube options. The building is colorful and decorated in bright pink with fun artwork and decor for an uplifting vibe. The line moved quickly and the service was friendly fast and efficient. I was able to place my order and pay with Apple Pay. I ordered the Taiyaki Sundae with black sesame and ube swirl soft serve served in a fish shaped mochi Belgian style waffle with Oreo dust on top. You can customize your sundae with filling like organic red sweet beans, Nutella or custard and toppings like Oreo dust, fruity pebbles or rainbow sprinkles. I ate this on site and the nutty black sesame balanced the sweet ube perfectly, and the Oreo topping added the best crunch. They had a variety of mochi donut flavors. Lucky for me, nothing was sold out today. I ordered the Oreo ube mochi donut and ube milk tea to-go. I ate the mochi donut later that day and it was probably my least favorite item from my order. It had the chewy mochi texture however I didn't get enough of the rich ube flavor. It had somewhat of a bitter aftertaste and the Oreo overpowered the ube. I drank the ube milk tea the next day and it was creamy, smooth, and not overly sweet. I really enjoyed the flavor profile of the beverage and would order it again. Came here for a sweat treat before heading to the airport! It's in an interesting spot, but there's a good amount of parking and outdoor seating (although the outdoor covered seating area by the entrance is a bit unpleasant....there was a smell?). Either way, this is a cute place with so many fun options and flavors! The matcha latte was good and perfect sweetness. The mochi donuts have good texture and the black sesame flavor was great! Every couple months we love a visit to Omg Squee for their delicious, no nonsense soft serve and taiyaki with several Asian flavor options. My favorite ice cream flavors have been ube and the Earl grey but you really can't go wrong. They have limited parking spots but often people will park along the side of the road when it's busy. Theres a few seats in front of the shop and a cute lighted outdoor area with picnic benches to the side. Highly highly recommend a visit, especially given how late they are open at night and night time soft serve is the best! The only thing I always struggle with is not getting the taiyaki with ice cream drip all over me, so I highly recommend getting a cup to flip it over into! read more

I have been a fan of OMG Squee since seeing the Queer Eye episode in which Sarah is featured! Living in NH I was unable to sample the wares from her bakery. But then my husband and I decided to visit Austin in February 2026! I am so Excited! I bought so many different goodies, a sticker, a few t-shirts, and a waffle mix! Omg everything was so good! The place is adorable, clean, and so well stocked! Everyone is so friendly, and once I finally decided which milk tea and goodies I wanted they quickly filled my order! I wish we could come here all the time. We come to OMG Squee 3-4 times a year since it's a hike from where we live. We came today for the mooncakes, and I'm so glad we didn't wait any longer to get these, because they're divine! So beautifully done. So many beautiful details, and you can tell the care they put into each cake. The mooncakes aren't too sweet, they are soft, they are delicious, and they are worth every penny! We also got my kiddo a taiyaki with Nutella, miso caramel soft serve, and Oreo (GF) dust. Perfection in every single bite. Every time, their taiyaki fills my gluten free heart with joy. It looks like they're in the middle of some renovations, and it shows! Small changes so far, but it looks like more is to come! I've never heard of "butter mochi" donuts before, only ever having regular Asian mochi donuts so this was definitely new and diff!! The texture was more pastry-doughy than the Asian ones. Maybe I got the wrong thing but I ordered the Hong Kong Milk tea with boba and the soft serve ice cream. And the HK milk tea was wayyy too sweet and I didn't taste much of the tea. They told me the boba was freshly made but it's actually undercooked or don't cook it correctly bc it was still pretty hard on the inside. I ended up throwing it away. OMG squee can really be a hit or a miss for me. For those who have never been this dessert shop changes their donut and ice cream flavors every two weeks. Some weeks are good, others not so much. Unfortunately this time was one of those not so good weeks. The owner is doing an adventure time themed set with four different character donuts and four inspired flavors. The only flavors that I liked were Lady lumps( the pink and green donut that is matcha, lemon, and lavender flavored), Rock N Roll Vamp( gray donut with red and Black sesame and raspberry flavored. Please bring this back), and unacceptably Lemon( the yellow donut with white cream which is a lemon sour cream cake flavor). The Chilli & buttered(blue and yellow) was a blueberry sweet corn with blue brown buttered glaze and tasted ok but the blueberry pieces baked into the donut gave it a weird texture. The adventure boy(white character donut black & white chocolate choc chip + cream cheese flavor) was kind of bland and a little underwhelming. The magic boy( yellow character donut maple bacon pancake flavored) had a very light maple flavor just tasted more like frosting on a mochi donut. The Gum queen( pink character donut which was bubblegum flavored) wasn't bad but after two or three bites it tasted like pepto bismol. Finally the A.I bestie( blue character donut that is tropical dreamsicle flavor) was a little too artificial tasting for me. Overall it's still a pretty good spot and the boba is good, this cycle was just a wash for me. Hate to say it, but I found Omg Squee overrated! Pros: good location near ABP and a bunch of other stuff in East Austin. Also, lots of gluten free stuff! Cons: very small. No interior seating and limited seating out front. There is a shared outdoor space with a bike shop with picnic tables where you can sit. Also, parking is very limited, and street parking there is confusing. In general, the donut was very dense. The soft serve was good. Glad to have checked it out finally since it was on my list, but I most likely will not be coming back. read more

It's very exciting to have a spot with Asian inspired flavors in sweet treat forms such as matcha blueberry mochi donuts and ube soft serve w/ red bean stuffed taiyaki. However, the overall experience left me with unfulfilled anticipation. I've had their macarons at an event before, and found them delicious and definitely to be the star feature. Great bite and gentle chew with lovely fillings that weren't too sweet. However, from my in-person experience, their namesake soft serve was melty and bland compared to their names. The fruity pebbles were the only thing that brought flavor to the cereal milk flavored soft serve - otherwise, it just tasted like a light vanilla. We also found the taiyaki to be dry and more of a instagram photo app rather than an enjoyable indulgence. The mochi donut, while very, very cute!, was way too sweet. Like, tooth pain sweet. It clearly had real blueberries in it which is a lovely addition and had a great glutinous chew. I think it would have been very enjoyable if not for the sugar green coating. Lastly, their milk tea seems to be on the complete opposite spectrum of sweetness. It was ordered as is, but the milk tasted like watered down skim, and I didn't pick up any of the tea flavoring. The boba had a decent chew, but didn't taste like they were in a syrup soak. Honestly, probably the least enjoyable bubble tea I've had in Austin. As for where to to sit, they do have a decent amount of booths in the front patio and picnic benches outside without too much shade. Their interesting flavors immediately caught my eye, and I tried the Ube soft serve (a vanilla-adjacent flavor). Stoped by to grab some Taiyaki Sundaes. The soft serve was absolutely delicious, but the filling and cone has significant room for improvement. It may be important to note: this is the first time I've tried Taiyaki outside of the East Coast. Cafes in NYC and the Philly area offer up a soft, well flavored, and warm Taiyaki cone whereas our cones from omg squee were very crunchy, not warm and lacked the sweet flavor and spongy texture. The red bean filling was also pretty course where I'm used to it being more similar to the filling for daifuku. I would return for the soft serve only and skip the cone and filling. read more

I finally had the chance to come by OMG SQUEE. I've seen images online of their mochi donuts and taiyaki so I was dying to eventually come by. It's quite a small store with exclusively outdoor seating. I was apprehensive about the vanilla chai originally since the taste of chai can be really strong at times but it was a mild chai taste. Be super careful when you near the "mouth" of the taiyaki- at that point it was hard to bite into the waffle without the soft serve dripping over my clothes. I chose custard as the filling which went really well with the soft serve flavors. From placing the order and getting my taiyaki, it was extremely fast since they just had to make the taiyaki and pipe in the soft serve. However you need to contend with the weather, extreme heat / cold etc. and lets not forget the flies. They want to come say Hi...all of them, one by one. Omg Squee doesn't give soft serve samples! Ummm...yeah; No soft serve samples...umm wha?! The reasoning was the way the machine works, it will dispense too much! rigghhttt. Yet here in the the Bay Area you can get samples from any similar venue like Somi Somi, Matcha Cafe Maiko or Uji Time. #SUGAR ~ SOFT SERVE: - Earl Grey & Ube swirl - 3/5 I couldn't sample the other flavors and the dispenser for the solo Earl Grey flavor was not working. So this was my choice. If you want to try the mochi donuts, go early. When we visited they were sold out but that's probably what we get going at 9 pm. We ended up getting a couple of ice creams. I ordered the sesame ice cream with custard filling and the caramel? or dulce de leche drizzle on top, all stuffed in the cute-y fish "cone." It was tasty but suuuper messy. I was a little disappointed they didn't have the "White Rabbit" flavor I was reading about in the reviews. There are just a few flavors and options available so if you're looking for something specific, I'd check to see what they have available before heading over. Might want to try a different spot if you want lots of options. I know it's an ice cream spot so it's going to get sticky, but it was actually pretty dirty, esp. on the tables and seating. This was not ideal as the ice cream was super messy and not something you'd want to eat in the car. We ended up sitting at the back patio though I wouldn't recommend this at 9 pm as it was pretty dark and they started spraying off mats near the tables which was, again, understandable considering the time. They have cute branding and gifts inside. I was eyeing the rainbow of lucky cats though just got a cute sticker this time. Service was friendly and helpful. I have been wanting to try this place literally for years but I live so far away, but tonight was the night! It's a small location but there was plenty of parking and it's at an intersection so pretty easy to get there. The employees were very friendly and accommodating, explaining the menu items to us and helping out with our egg allergy (they have allergen icons on the menu as well) I got the sesame ice cream with the red bean filling and dulce de leche topping. Delicious! We also ordered a half dozen macarons but haven't eaten them yet, they look scrumptious though!
