This is about the new business, not when it was owned by George. I've been dealing with SP-Teri for the good part of a year. You can see the photos for the "custom skates" they sent me. If you can even call it that. I have returned the product and have not gotten my money back. I do not want them to try to fix anything as I do not trust their cobbler knows what they're doing. Unless I'm interested in ending my career. I'm not one to usually do any of this but I want to warn people to NOT BUY from SP-Teri EVER. Wanted to update that their name and address are now: A&G Skate 90 South Spruce Ave, Suite R, South San Francisco, CA 94080 George and Aaron are the best! My feet don't fit the stock Riedell and Jackson boots, and I've been disappointed after visiting other shops. During my visit to A&G, George (the G of A&G) fitted me in a split-width SP-Teri boot, which is narrower in heel than ball of feet. I couldn't believe how well they fit! I felt like Cinderella finally putting on my long-lost glass slipper. As a beginning skater, the skates were more expensive than I was hoping to pay, but I know they will make up for it in the reduction of pain and hopefully faster improvement. If the SP-Teri's don't fit, they also have Riedell and Jackson brand boots. Definitely check out this skate shop. I'll definitely come here again for all my future sharpenings and skating needs. read more

We have been SP-Teri's loyal customers for about 4 - 5 boots now. From child to adult, we trusted George with our (now adult) child's boot and skate blade recommendations. I will tell you why he's the best guy in town. George is a 2nd generation skate boot-maker. George designs the boot to fit the skaters foot. Not only that, but the materials he uses makes sure the boots are of the best quality and they are built to last. My skater went through 4 - 5 boots not because they fell apart, but because they advanced as a skater or her feet grew. George and his crew did a great job, from beginning to end, recommending blades as they grew and advanced in their sport, tweaking the fit just so, so that blisters and callouses did not set in and occasionally providing a sharpening when we were in a pinch! So here's the thing about SP-Teri - they are simply the best. Four pairs of skating boots in 20 some-odd years and I'm here to tell you if it is quality skates we're looking for, look no further than SP-Teri. George and his crew have seen so many skater's feet that they can diagnose and fix anything that goes on with their skates. They stand behind their product 100%. A trip to SP-Teri usually begins with a paper tracing of the skater's foot and then based on they type of skater (dance, recreational, pairs, for realz), a recommendation will be made on the type of skates. Then, usually in concert with the skater's coach, blades are selected and the crew sets about hand-making the skates custom for the skater. At the first fitting, the skater tries on the boots, sensitive areas (ankle bones, back sides, etc.) are blown out and "cooked" into place (no, literally cooked into place - he puts them in an oven and cooks your boots while you wait.) Then skate blades are mounted and there's another quick look-see to make sure they are even and then the blades are tightened in and we're ready to go! If, along the way there are any problems that crop up, the crew does their best using years and years of experience to get the skater gliding again. So, yeah, almost 20 years later, I highly recommend SP-Teri. They are local and all-American, they know what they are doing from generations of experience and they stand behind their products. Pro shop gets 4 stars. It's not huge, but it's got lots of figure skating goodies when a lot of pro shops are hockey-oriented. Want a pair of those cool plastic guards that light up when you step on them? They've also got a case of ice skating collectibles, some new, some vintage. But the real story is their skates. If you can afford a pair, you'll get fitted by a very thorough and genuinely nice guy, George Spiteri. Their skates are world-class. Of course, Harlick is just a short hop down the peninsula so we're really sitting pretty in the Bay Area. read more

Please be patient with my long story (Note Bill Fauver has nothing to do with this. I have respect for him taking over SP Teri manufacturing. His current production was not in place when this all happened.) I purchased boots from SP Teri in 2016 where he properly sized me with minor bunions by upsizing the width. They were perfect with width no issues. At the time George spteri owned both manufacturing and the skate shop. Those same boots in 2017 had an issue I had to take back due to tongue material broke down and caused really bad lace bite. George suggested I have wool put in which I paid for. That's when my nightmare started. The eye hook in the tongue kept rotating and loosen my boots after pickup. Took back multiple times when Arron over stretched the tongue at base by the toes! I had to compete with ghetto rigging laces under the tongue and wrapping under the sole and tying laces on top so the tongue wouldn't slide into my toes! Very painful. George noticed and said they have to remake my boots. This was in 2018. When I went back and pick new boots up George wasn't there and Arron seemed to be taking out personal issues out on me! He was very rude and snappy. I mentioned to him the wool tongue was missing that I had just paid for in the other boots and they weren't the right width! He grabbed both boots switched the blades and told me there the same and all I'm doing was complaining. That wasn't at all what was happening I just simply asked about the tongue and mentioned something was wrong with the new boots! He told me it's the same and break them in and told me he's done and asked that I leave! I was so upset on how I was treated. I now know why he was having personal issues but bottom line shouldn't have been taken out on me. I started breaking in the boots and my foot started hurting a lot. Thinking punched out would work but it wasn't any better. I could barly skate and ended up at the podiatrist multiple times who confirmed my boots where to narrow. I had to take time off from skating. I went to Harlick and they were kind and made me new boots. No issues with bunion progression that was kicked into place with SP Teri boots they screwed up on. I was told sp Teri sold the business so I thought I couldn't do anything about my waisted money and now painful foot. I recently found out that they are in fact still open just under another name. I contacted them to try to post my skates they made for sale there and I was stating that I couldn't due to liability. I reached out to George who I finally had the chance to talk to him and try to make things right. He stated he could get me other boots but what he has in stock. He seemed like he was being helpful. I even said I was okay with blades in exchange but I didn't feel right selling the skates it he did what was right and I would just return them to him. Mailed them back and from then on he never picked up the phone or returned any calls! He has had my boots since August 10th!! Finally returned an email with miss information apparently on his file about me. Stated my boots he remade given to me where made in 2017. I told him it was April 2018 when u did them and I picked up. I'm now finding out they must have given me boots not intended for me obviously because a lot isn't adding up. I'm left with screwed up foot and boots that they haven't even returned to me. And want to do nothing about it! So to sum this up be aware who u do business with when it comes to your feet. You pay extra to trust someone to properly size you. All I know is I trusted them and there business and they screwed up and will not take responsibility. There customer service is horrible and I am very disappointed in them both! read more

I recently took up ice skating as a hobby this year. I have always had a problem finding shoes that fit me thanks to the hobbit feet I've inherited (thanks dad), so finding figure skates that fit me was just as big a task as throwing the One Ring into Mount Doom. I wasted time and money on ill fitting department store skates that just weren't wide enough so on the recommendation of my coach I decided to pay a visit to the S P Teri shop. George did my fitting and I have nothing but kind words for him. He takes the time to really make sure you walk away with boots that fit you well, and with blades that are perfectly mounted. Also he's just a really nice person! I'm only a beginner skater, but George was so enthusiastic about my future lessons with my new skates that I walked out with new found enthusiasm to get back on the ice. The first pair of skates I got did not completely work out (thanks hobbit feet) which was caught during the adjustment appointment, so a new pair was made. I believe that order was rushed since the new pair was ready in 2 weeks. When I got to break in my skates it was like skating on butter! I didn't think it was possible to have such comfortable ice skates, and I couldn't believe the difference it made in my skating. I was impressed at how far they have come in their boot designs. Their business also had sort of a family feel to it. Although I had my heart set on getting a different boot made by another company, upon visiting this store I felt differently. One advantage is that the company is close to home and they do make a sturdy boot, and now in comfortable designs. read more

Yes... This is MUCH better than my old skates. My jumps are higher and my feet don't get swollen anymore. I don't feel like falling when I'm going moderately fast on edges. Then again, it's like upgrading from a Toyota Corolla to a Mercedes. read more

I've gotten two pairs of ice skates from this shop that have worked out so well and lasted well. George really has an eye for detail, and it shows through every step of the process. His son works with him crafting these custom ice skating boots, who was incredibly friendly and service-oriented during my purchase. These are craftspeople who are not only really good at what they do, but also seem to truly care about you and your experience, hoping you'll have a quality product for many years almost more than you. I had custom boots made in the late 1980s. The boots are still in excellent condition and have been passed down to my teen daughter. She is just a leisure skater, she loves the skates. I have moved numerous times and the boots have succumbed to extreme weather. At one time it was stored in an outdoor metal shed, a lot of my rubber soled street shoes deformed/melted, but the skates held strong. Amazing how long they lasted. The leather is still in tip top shape/no cracks, no wear on the materials, blade is sharp/no rust. Can't say enough positives about the quality and workmanship. read more

Can't stand them. I stopped skating because they refused to make minor repairs on my custom-made boots. I paid a bundle for them and a pair of MK Phantom blades, so they were kept in near mint condition. The foam tongue padding warped and needed replacement, but they refused to do it because the boots were over a year old. Should have gone to Harlick in the first place.
