The cashier said the menu was new, but the new menu on the counter and the board both said 29.99 for lamb chops but when I was rung up it was 31.19. Her response was maybe at the other locations the price is 29.99 but this location is 31.19. So owners please update your board and "new menu". The price posted was NOT honored. Got a mobile order offline from a delivery app. While almost everything had a good flavor, I feel like for the price of everything they were skimpy with the portions. They did have a sale so one of the packs of green beans were free. My lamb chops were overcooked. I asked for jerk flavor and it wasn't added. The loaded mashed potatoes were so good. I come here every time I come to Chicago! Everything is always fresh. There's always a good movie and game on the televisions. The front of house staff is always on point. I try to order something different for takeout (I'm usually about to get on the highway to head back to Indy), but I have to dine in for their fish. Passed by a few weeks ago and didn't realize I had one in my back yard. I was happy to see growth! The place was similar to the Orland location and the food was good enough to go back so why not stop here. Well the atmosphere is a little different. By that I mean the people behind the counter. Another customer and I were looking at each other as we thought there was a fight in the kitchen. As she was an older woman I was concerned for her and would've assisted her out if I needed to. Cursing and raised voices. It was an argument over he said she said and not even about the people in the workplace! I shouldn't have that much detail right?! I did not notice who walked in but they got back to business quick so it must've been a manager type. On to the food.... Unless eating in, I suggest you order online or call ahead. It's too long of a wait for to go. Eating in it would be fine. Unless another argument breaks out. I ordered the loaded baked potato. Not sure where the broccoli came from as that wasn't even an option. Maybe they got my order mixed up? It was baked well and the broccoli right, just not what I wanted or asked for. The pizza was surprisingly good! I don't have high hopes for Chicago pizza being an east coast girl but the sauce and cheese was better than most. Food was awful. I ordered the Chicken Wings yesterday and it was the worst chicken I ever purchased. (The only meats I eat are chicken and fish. So I eat chicken daily.) It was still very pink and had a ton of feathers still on them. I could not eat it and had to throw the food out. I opened the food at home and was too far away to go back. Customer Service was poor. So I walked from nearby hotel to this restaurant and I was there at 12:05(opens at noon by Google maps), doors were locked and the lady that works in S2 express grill was smoking a cigarette outside, and she told me they are not ready yet. I asked her could I wait inside because it is very cold outside but she closed on me an told me to wait outsideAfter 10 minutes she let me in. There was more surprises... menu prices do not reflect actual prices it was 1 dollar difference plus service fee of 2,5 dollars. So it is 3,5 dollars difference. When the delivery driver handed me the food, I smelled it before I reached for it. The food came hot and I took a few nibbles before I took the pic And before my man got home. Outstanding flavors! When I say I have never been this disappointed in a soul food meal. I went here and spent $86 on a jerked grilled salmon dinner with dirty rice and a loaded mash, the salmon was not seasoned and had jerk sauce slapped across the top the mash was dried out not creamy and the dirty rice looked like Spanish rice. I also ordered a beef short rib dinner with baked macaroni and I loaded mash, the ribs were very tender but extremely tasteless no seasoning at all. The macaroni was extremely dried out and the loaded mash was the same as the other dinner DRY. I also had a side of candied yams that were not sweet at all just an orange potatoe and I ordered the buffalo chicken egg rolls and they were so dry I couldn't even chew them. I liked absolutely nothing about neither meal I'm very disappointed I will not be eating here again. I was too far to go back but I called and was told I could speak to the general manager when she returns. I asked my bf to bring me short ribs, and he called the order in, paid for. He didn't know that there were 2 locations on Halstead. He accidentally called Chicago but showed up for it in Harvey. Me and my son met here last week, I asked if we could sit in and the young man said yes. I had the short ribs (the cashier asked if I wanted them jerked, hell why not) although they only give two and cut them so they appear more, they were fork tender and yummy. I got broccoli and mashed potatoes. Let me say I'm "old school" and it's not easy for me to get with this thing where social media is making everyone think all sides should be seasoned like meat. I wasn't pleased with them tasting like seasoned chicken instead of buttery creamy potatoes. My son had lamb chops and my grandboy had catfish. That catfish smelled and looked delicious, the baby didn't touch it (as we knew he wasn't). I'm assuming the lamb chops were good bc my son ordered 2 more orders to go. On second thought that may mean NOTHING bc he smoked before he met me. Now let's move on to last night, the hubs decided he wanted to give them a try so after work we met there. Again, I asked if we could sit in and eat and again it was a yes (same cashier). This time is was way toooooo cold in there for that so we had him bag it up. We decided on chicken and shrimp Alfredo (again we were offered to have it jerk, go ahead). The hubs also got Philly rolls, it was too cold for me to get up so I never went to the counter. A young lady is now up front and calls out the order. He's up there a bit and walks back towards me and the bag looks light. He says they only charged him for one meal and the rolls (plus a baby jug of flavored lemonade). So we're freezing while they're preparing the other meal. The hubs can't wait so he opens the rolls, I ate one. NO TASTE! Finally, at the last bite I see and taste a bell pepper. We get home I open my bag and I'm very disappointed! The meal; it appears to me to be diced prepackaged chicken, 5 overcooked rubbery shrimp swimming in watery sauce. They push that watered down Walkerswood jerk marinade so they can charge the extra $1 for everything they sale. No issues with the cost BUT I take a look at the receipt and I DAMN KNEW I should've went to that damn counter with him. They use that tablet and if u're not paying attention or feel compelled u'll be tipping. TIPPING for "to go" food!!! We couldn't sit in if we wanted to bc they didn't have the heat on. Which is smart, no need to clean the dining area. But to charge sit down prices without the option to sit down and to be tipped on top of messing up the order and it not be delicious!!!!! They could've offered him another lemonade for us having to wait for the missed order to be cooked. I'll say this IF u're on percs, zanies, lean or weed u may enjoy this subpar food bc I'm almost for sure that's the bulk of their clientele. If u're sober and know good food sorry but u may be disappointed. I gave them a second try against my better judgment and it cost me and the hubs multiple trips to the toilet all day today!
