    Back at it! Had to show some more love! Red Star Kitchen & Bar was pretty good as the last few times we dined here. Decent prices and music was definitely a vibe! Friendly staff with great manners. We order the braided short rib with greens and Mac, along with the kids boneless chicken. Hot and ready! Juicy flavors and fresh! My margarita was also delicious! Definitely hit the spot! Check em out!

    Quite a distance from our home, but my daughter and I came out on Sunday evening to support our cousin's sorority event here. It was packed with the party plus the regular patrons, but it cleared out a bit after their normal closing time of 5:00. Our private party was scheduled until 8:00. We had a variety of cocktails. Our server was swamped so everything took long. We had to grab her when we saw her and make sure to order what we wanted up front. We had a long table and she did a good job of keeping everyone's checks straight. They have an urban menu with lots of options for brunch, appetizers or entrees. We were limited to the fried dishes, so we got several orders of the salmon bites and loaded fries. The salmon was delicious! Bite sized pieces and only slightly breaded. The sauce was a sweet chili but they went really well with the dipping sauce that came with the cauliflower bites a friend had. Others ordered the chicken and fish entrees which all looked really good. Service was very slow because there weren't enough servers for the crowd. The DJ was awesome and the food and drinks we had were great. Would definitely return.

    I was crazy enough to have a business meeting there with loud music it was amazing! The food is delicious and prepared fresh. I can't wait to try more items on the menu. The staff is great as well!

    The food was bomb, we decided to stop here after the sista strut for breast cancer. I had the catfish and grits with a passion fruit martini. My sister had the short beef ribs with grits. The food was delicious. I couldn't finish it all. The music was good. My bartender Keke was good, everything was on point.

    Honey!!! The food was so bomb!!! Juicy steaks (one rare the other medium rare) cooked to perfection!! Especially as a delivery. We are currently without power and our using our generator but we cannot hook everything up to the generator. Thank you SO MUCH REDSTAR for not only a delicious dinner and a timely delivery.

    Had an awesome time!!!!! We got seated right away with a reservation so I recommend making one. As the night went on people weee turned away due to the capacity. The staff were nice although it took a while for someone to serve us. The food was excellent and very flavorful! The drinks were great as well, I had the sangria flight! The sun came with karaoke where everyone had a blast and wasn't afraid to get up and make a fool of themselves. If you want a good time, good drinks and great food, I highly recommend!

    It was a Tuesday night and I had a taste for some down home food and I was told this place had great catfish and wings. The catfish did not miss the mark it was fresh, flavorful, moist and the crust was crispy. The wings were flavorful but they were a little dry. The sinful loaded fries were amazing!!! We arrived around 7:00 pm it wasn't crowded but by 8:30 pm the place was full because I learned it was comedy night. We stayed for the comedy it was ok. This restaurant has a Dj and he was was playing a majority of R&B. They also have stand up Karaoke and Sunday brunch. I ordered a drink it was Strong!!! My wait staff was not very attentive and we had to search for her initially just to get silverware to eat our food. Throughout the course of our meal she rarely came to our table. This place gets loud around 8:30 pm but I like the urban vibe. It is a great place for girls or guys night out. They have lots of TVs on throughout the restaurant playing all the sports. If you want a festive lively place to eat with lots of entertainment options then this place is for you.

    Ordered the loaded baked potato and was super excited for it. Took about 20/25 minutes to come out and when it did the entire potato was hard and inedible. It hadn't been cooked long enough. I sent it back and didn't order anything else. We had already been here going on an hour and I was ready to go. They charge you for every sauce put on the wing even if it's just one. And gratuity is automatically included when the service doesn't match. Not a fan

It's in Flossmoor, IL. I'm so happy to do this review on them. We went on a Tuesday and although I had in mind what I wanted to order from the regular menu, we arrived while their Happy Hour was still going on so we decided to take advantage of their tacos for Taco Tuesday and their guacamole. The guac and chips came out first. It looked so fresh and when I tasted it, the angels were singing! Delicious. Then came the tacos - I was surprised how big they were, filled up with good stuff. I had the steak and the chicken. Both were good but I liked the steak best. I had had a challenging workday so I treated myself to the Lemondrop Flight as I love lemondrop martinis. You can pick three from the flavors of original, passion fruit, watermelon, mango and strawberry. The presentation is beautiful in what they bring it in. Toya, one of the owners made it herself and she is definitely a good at making drinks. I enjoyed them immensely. This place is a total VIBE - small, intimate and cozy. They play R&B that takes you back to the 80s and 90s - we were thoroughly enjoying it. Many come in and sit at the bar where there are two large screen TVs. They also have a small outdoor seating when the weather is nice. We were really enjoying our time there. We had the best wait staff - Chris was super cool, engaging and just plain nice. He was informing us of all the events they have there which piqued my interest. Toya also came over and talked with us and I complimented her on the restaurant and promised her that I would definitely be back and would bring others. I have already posted about them on social media and many of my friends are planning on seeing what they offer. For dessert, I ordered the Turtle Cheesecake. I'm kind of a cheesecake snob because my late Mother made the best cheesecake. The presentation of their cheesecake was gorgeous. The caramel drizzle and nuts on it was inviting. One bite and I was SOLD! I was too full to eat the entire big slice they gave me so I worked on it some more when I got home. This place opened in 2023. I wish them the best because they definitely have something there. I can't wait to come back there, it's a place to come, relax, eat good food and enjoy the positive environment that there. There has never been a time that I passed that there was a seat open at the bar, so I sat in the main dining area this one time. I ordered blackened catfish with garlic mashed potatoes and grilled asparagus. This was a hit. It was full of flavor without going overboard with seasoning. And I appreciate that it was cooked to order. It made up for the cranberry juice being water with a "hint" of cranberry juice, an indication that it probably came from a tap. Service was top and one of the owners made rounds to check on customers. I may stop by again at some point in the future. It would certainly be a welcomed break when I am taking respite from cooking at home.

Traditional jambalaya doesn't have a liquid/soup to it. The jambalaya was more like a veggie étouffée. I would visit again to try the vegetarian jambalaya and, maybe, have the fried green tomatoes again.

We asked to be moved to another table, but our waitress seemed irritated by the request and told us it wouldn't matter where we sat because the gnats were everywhere and some areas were even worse. After we moved, her attitude remained noticeably unpleasant. In fact, another friend joined us about an hour later and immediately asked, "What did y'all do to her?" after a brief interaction with our waitress while trying to order a drink. The restaurant was not busy--there were only about six occupied tables--yet we waited an unusually long time for our food. When it finally arrived, the quality was disappointing. My friend's rice was dried out and only lukewarm. My fries tasted as though they had been sitting for hours, the burger was barely warm, and the onion rings on my burger were so grease-soaked that I felt like I could have squeezed oil out of them. I rarely leave reviews, but this experience was bad enough that I felt compelled to share it. Between the gnats, the poor service, and the disappointing food quality, this was easily one of the worst restaurant experiences I've had in a very long time. Unfortunately, I will not be returning.

The waitress said to me "You asked for it medium rare". "I know I asked for it medium rare but, can you cook it well done?" "If it's cooked well done. There will be no pink inside & you asked for medium rare". Taken aback. I said "I know i will not have any pink. I just want the steak well done". She got a manager. The manager too replied in the same condescending manner "If it's cooked well done. Then it won't be medium rare. There will be no pink inside & you asked for medium rare". "I understand. I do not understand what the problem is! All I want is the steak cook well done. Forget about the pink. Why can't you just cook the steak well done. What is the problem"? Again, you asked for medium rare & it has pink inside. Cooking it well done. Leaves no pink. Sure, I lost it. "Why are you acting as if I do not understand? Why can't the steak be cooked well done?" The manager wanted to keep arguing with me. I am now very pissed off. Lost for words. Here I am me and my son are out enjoying our day and this is what we receive!!!! Mistreatment. Over a steak that could have just been taken back to the kitchen and cooked well done!!!!!!!! I just want to get out of there. So, I started yelling. At this point the manager and waitress condescending attitude (waitress smiling as if I am getting what I deserved) push me over the edge. I was then told to leave. Times are this hard that an establishment is telling the customer what they order and implying "Since you order this. I am going to educate you on what a steak or anything looks like. How it's cooked and you should not be asking for anything differently". This is perspective on the situation. With the manager & waitress condescending attitude and the waitress smiling as if "Yeah tell her". Business this BAD should GO OUT OF BUSINESS. I am very disappointed with the whole outcome and all I wanted was for the steak to be cooked well done. To be kicked out of a restaurant and hear my son say, "He is a mean man". For the manager not to give me his name. Tell me I am being disruptive. Point to the bar area. That is completely empty!!!! No one is the area of the front door. Educating me what medium rare and well done is. As if I was just born yesterday. Is out Outrageous. I have never been treated as if I was so stupid in my is an understatement and I have had my share of stupidity from others!!! This experience is over the top!!!! Then the manager had a nerve to lie and say "I tried to give you another steak". What another medium rare stake (he never tried to replace my steak. It was me asking him to just put it back on the grill or however you cook it. I was the one trying to deescalate the situation. Not the manager or waitress)????? I will never return to this location again. Hell, I might never return to another Red Lobster EVER after today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!     During my university days, Red Lobster people viewed as high-end seafood dining. Lines were always…read morelong. Wait times ranged from 40 minutes to an hour. The food was always worth the long lines and the wait. I remember the consistency in flavour right up through the late 90's, and then it appeared as though Red Lobster tapered off. It was as if the restaurant had suddenly experienced hard times and shut their doors. Fast forward to now, you can walk in and get a seat without waiting. Now I understand. The location in Matteson is close to my home, so I will pop in on occasion when I do not want to cook at home. The restaurant is never fully empty. Unlike days long ago when large parties occupied tables, that would be no problem now. The restaurant can accommodate multiple large parties at any given time. I tend to opt for fish and chips when I go. There are times when I will switch up and order salmon or any stuffed white fish along with vegetable sides. I would not say that the flavour has fallen off. However, there is something missing that I cannot put my finger on. I know that since the late 80's when I went to Red Lobster most, I had not yet broadened my palate, so I think that cooking and eating Caribbean and West African food primarily have wired my palate for a different set of spices that are not in the recipes at Red Lobster. This is not a bad thing, but it is just that my appetite is more satisfied than wowed. Service is always good at this location. That may be the case because the crowds are so thin that the servers do not come to the table agitated when they take my orders. I usually sit in the bar area. However, because the dining area tends to be mostly empty, the bar area closes so that diners can fill up the seats in the main dining area if possible. Red Lobster may be a cautionary tale of all good things eventually ending. This one in Matteson is holding on, though.
