Food was delicious (u should try to mardi gras pasta) and the service was nice. Our coffee was always full and when it got a little cold our waitress went and refilled it. Nice cute restaurant would recommend.

While in the area checking out homes, I had to satisfy my appetite. I didn't want something that was going to leave me hungry before I got back home, so I stopped by Flavor Brunch & Bar. From the outside, it looked packed. That was because most of the patrons were sitting towards the front and against the window. But there was plenty of room. I sat at the bar, given there were enough seats to enjoy my food without having others on top of me. I ordered catfish with waffles. There were two large, meaty pieces of catfish, which was a plus considering so many restaurants give a thin piece of catfish and often just one piece. Both filets were fried in a batter that wasn't so thick that it felt like essence of fish, and there was enough seasoning without being salty. The waffles came with a Hennessey caramel. I'm glad they didn't do something like add walnuts or pecans. Oh, it wasn't just Hennessey flavor. You could taste the Hennessey in the caramel. Big ups to the bartender who suggested the caramel for the waffles and recommended the fish over the chicken. One thing to note is that I didn't know if the hostess was really the hostess. There was no "Welcome to Flavor Brunch & Bar," but there was a quick acknowledgement of me entering after I held up my "church" finger to indicate just me for dining in. There doesn't have to be a red carpet, confetti, and cameras, but the front of the house is the first face that customers see. Welcoming service can overshadow bad food service.

Liver & Onions. I would have loved it if it were not for all of the grease :(

I really wanted to give this place an amazing review but I'm very sad to say I cannot. First, we were seated and no one came to our table to get our order for 20 minutes!! Closing time was at 3 and we were seated at 2:30 but literally everyone who came after us were already eating or gone by the time we ordered and it was 3:30 when we left the restaurant. The lady who did come help us seemed puzzled why no one came to help and we were very grateful for her coming to our aide. Everyone else ordered the chicken and waffles but I love liver so I tried something different and was a little disappointed that I only got one piece and there was a ton of grease. Everyone else's food looked and tasted amazing so I guess I should have stuck with the most popular meal.

Very good. Visiting from California. The service was good (thanks Derrick). and the food amazing! Had the fish and grits loaded. Comes with catfish, chicken sausage and peppers sitting in the middle of bowl of grits with gravy and cheese!!!!! Yum!!!! Definitely would come back for sure!!!!

Fried catfish & Georgia peach cobbler waffles with a side of scrambled eggs

Came here to celebrate Tasha's birthday. This is my first time at this location. Hubby and I went to their first location in Olympia Fields before that location closed. I can't remember the size of the first location, but this place is small, but not crowded when we arrived. They will not seat you until your entire party arrives, which was fine because we all pretty much arrived around the same time, and were seated quickly. Since it is located in a strip mall, there is plenty of parking in the lot. Our server was Miracle and she was awesome! She went through the menu and told us which were the popular dishes. Kim said her long island was a drink...meaning, it was made just right. Raven and I had the pineapple mimosas, which were really good. The food took a while to come out, but since we were celebrating a birthday and catching up, it was ok. Kim said her fried catfish & Georgia peach cobbler waffles with a side of scrambled eggs were delicious. Tasha enjoyed her salmon croquette dinner. Toni wanted to try a little of everything and order the Flavor combo platter. She loved it. Raven loved her Georgia peach cobbler French toast combo with bacon. I had the fried catfish & Hennessy caramel waffles, which were really good. You could taste the liquor in it.

    Feathers on my chicken wings

I ordered chicken and waffles they left the feathers on my food restaurant was not full half way empty I told the acting manager she didn't even try to remake my order over or try to fix the issue that I had and there were flys flying over our food me and my wife had to keep swiping our food we got tried of swiping the flys away we just pack up and left

I actually have mixed feelings about this place. I live a good brunch and always seem to find myself ordering chicken and waffles so of course that's what I ordered here. We were told the wait would be 30 min and we were told to wait outside. This turned into almost an hour wait. Service from the waiter was great minus leaving us at the end with no direction on how to pay the bill. As we sat waiting on the check to come, the host made sure to keep her eyes on us. Not sure if they get a lot of people running out on the bill, but this in fact was not the case. As for the food, I ordered the 4 Wings & waffles. It was played perfectly and seasoned & marinated with Special Fried Chicken Seasoning. The special seasoning had a slight spice to it but not too overbearing. The chicken was fried so good, like something out of grandma's kitchen and the buttermilk waffle also just melts in your mouth. The food is amazing but the customer service skills can be better.

Meh. I wasn't impressed. My friend wanted to try this restaurant, so we stopped in for breakfast. The place was virtually empty, but their policy is to not seat guests until the entire dining party has arrived. My mom was late, so my friend and I ended up standing around for about 15 minutes until she arrived. I don't frequent restaurants with such rules, so that was an immediate turn-off. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive, which was a plus. I opted to have the breakfast combo, which consisted of grits, pancakes, sausage, and eggs. The grits were pretty good, but they could have kept everything else. The pancakes were hard and dry. I ended up picking over the food mostly. My friend had the catfish and grits, which she loved. I think my mom had a chicken wing, hush puppies, fried green tomatoes, and fries. She didn't really like her food either. The food was average at best. We waited nearly an hour for it so by the time we left it was almost noon. I actually went to Portillos on the way home. That tells you everything you need to know. My mom took her food home but said she didn't end up eating any of it. The furniture is in the place is older, but the restaurant was clean and quiet. There's ample parking in the strip mall parking lot as well.

    Loaded Mini Shrimp & Grits

Hello Yelp Family. Let me tell you about Flavors... I arrived and was immediately seated. I will warn that there is a sign up front that they won't seat any parties until all guest of that party are there. Thankfully it was just my GF and I. The drinks were on point. I had a Henny Rita and my Gf had a strawberry Long Island no vodka add tequila. Needless to say she ended up ordering another because it was so tasty. We both chose the Catfish and Waffles and I added a mini Shrimp and Grits (loaded with bacon). The catfish was crispy and flavorful seasoned well. I opted for the Hennessy sauce on my waffles and it was fantastic. I will say if you're not a sweet sweet eater then to go with the regular waffles vs a flavor. The shrimp and grits were good however I probably could've left out the pork as I feel like I mixed to much with my grits lol. The overall service was nice.

My niece and I couldn't believe this was our first visit, especially after hearing so many great things. This place is incredibly popular, so I definitely recommend making reservations. After checking in, we waited less than five minutes and struck up a fun conversation with two lovely ladies who were also first-timers. It was the perfect start to the evening. The atmosphere is warm, lively, and inviting, with Mardi Gras beads and colorful carnival masks throughout the restaurant that give it so much character. Our server was fantastic. Unfortunately, I didn't catch his name, but he was friendly, attentive, and extremely knowledgeable about the menu. His recommendations made choosing from so many tempting options much easier. Now let's talk about the food... EVERYTHING was absolutely delicious! To kick things off, I ordered the Creole Voodoo Zombie, and my niece had the Hurricane. Both cocktails were fantastic and set the tone for an amazing meal. My niece is an excellent cook herself and has dietary restrictions, so dining out can often be disappointing. That's what made this experience even more special--she genuinely loved every bite. We started with the crab cake appetizer and the BBQ shrimp appetizer, and both were packed with incredible flavor. For my entrée, I ordered the blackened ribeye, swapping the broccolini for the collard greens (worth the $3 upcharge!). The steak was perfectly cooked, and those collard greens were phenomenal. My niece chose the blackened red snapper étouffée, and she couldn't stop raving about it. Even though we were completely full, we couldn't leave without dessert. We shared the Mississippi Mud Turtle Brownie topped with marshmallow fluff and the strawberry shortcake. Our server suggested pairing the brownie with a butterscotch liqueur, and I'm so glad I took his recommendation--it was the perfect finishing touch and complemented the dessert beautifully. We've been talking about this meal ever since we left...and that's probably the biggest compliment I can give. In fact, we were so impressed that we made reservations for next weekend before we even left--and we're bringing two friends with us! Perfect for: Date nights, celebrations, or anytime you want a memorable meal that's worth planning ahead for. Maple Tree Inn absolutely lived up to the hype. 10/10--highly recommend!

My last visit was when they were still on Old Western Ave in Blue Island--way overdue for a return. Let's start with the food--absolutely delicious. The three of us kicked things off with the Cast Iron Cornbread, and trust me, don't skip it. Perfectly done and a great start to the meal. For mains, we went with the Pitmaster's N'awlins Gumbo, Hickory Buttered BBQ Shrimp, and Burnt Ends. Every dish was spot on--flavorful, well-executed, and clearly made with care. The restaurant itself is pristine--clean, polished, and classy without feeling stuffy. Service was just as strong. Our server, Nick, was attentive, knowledgeable, and made the whole experience smooth and enjoyable. Safe to say, it will NOT be another 30 years before my next visit. Highly recommend.

I ordered a platter of barbecue fried chicken with mustard potato salad, pinto beans, and a cornbread muffin. The chicken was no joke. It wasn't undercooked and it wasn't dry. I have had smothered fried chicken, but barbecue fried chicken was new to me and I liked it. They get high marks for good mustard potato salad. They didn't have baked beans, but cooked the pinto beans such that it had a nice gravy. No sugar was added to emulate baked beans, just good flavor without the fuss. Second platter that I ordered was spicy barbecue fried chicken, spaghetti, greens, and another cornbread muffin. Loved the kick to the spicy barbecue chicken. I appreciate the spaghetti not being sweet. There was enough bitter to the greens that I wonder if they were picked fresh. You can tell when someone does too much to canned greens to mask the fact that they're canned. I didn't get that impression with these greens. As to the cornbread muffin, it is more dessert than savory. Beware if you are a cornbread snob. Kimmy's is not a sit-down type of restaurant. You order for takeaway. What I ordered had sit-down flavor, for sure. I don't live too far away that I can't pull up. I can't say that I will chance placing an order for delivery. It takes time for orders to be completed because everything is cooked to order. Either way, they will get my dollars.
