No fear, if I strayed from the path, she subtlely redirected. When we finally began work, it was the last week in Aug 2020 (thank you Covid) It went beyond all expectations. All of the tradesmen were great. I was at work a majority of the time, but felt my home was safe. Communication was good. Any issues were quickly addressed. Kudos to all involved with the project but special thanks to project managers Tony and Luis. Luis had to pick up the project near the end when Tony had surgery and smoothly took over. Painters Miguel and Erasmus, Rudy, Alvin, Rob, Dan et al Pumbers, tiling and electricians were great too. 13 weeks later, mission accomplished. A member of the office staff told me, in such a tone that suggested I should be impressed, that the owner Keith Moehle will personally come meet with me. So Mr. Moehle comes out and immediately starts trying to sell me on products I did not express interest in when I called. My bullsh*t detector goes off, but I give him the benefit of the doubt. When leaving, I ask Mr. Moehle when I can expect my estimate. He says after the weekend: 3-4 days. After a week I call and ask the office staff where my estimate is. They say they'll as Mr. Moehle. After two weeks I call and ask more forcefully, "where's my estimate?" They say they'll as Mr. Moehle. After two and a half weeks, I start badgering them and finally they send me an estimate. I follow up the emailed estimate with a few questions, but a week and a half after that I still have not received a response. Actually, after the first week of waiting for the estimate, I knew I wouldn't hire them, but since they wasted an afternoon for me--stayed home from work--I figured I deserved an estimate. So here is my conclusion: 1) They try to upsell you with products they claim will save you lots of money. Maybe the products are great, but if you're expecting someone to come out and bid on a specific project, but instead they bring out the dog and pony show, can they be trusted? 2) If you have to badger a contractor to send you an estimate, ...if you have to badger them to give them money, what does this say about them? What if the contractor gets his down payment for the job and then "hems and haws" on when they'll be showing up like they did for the estimate? I am not saying they do this sort of thing, but their behavior makes me a little nervous. 3) The meeting with Mr. Moehle again set off my bull detector when he started boasting about his 80 employees and radio show on WOAI radio. I didn't know he had a show, but if I paid WOAI for a weekly show about shoe laces vs. velcro straps, I am sure they'd give me air time too. A pay for play radio show doesn't necessarily translate into reliability. 4) KM Builders gave me an estimate of $2,400 for blown-in insulation. At an industry standard of $0.40/foot, that would mean I have a 6,000 square foot attic, which it isn't. Another local firm, Williams Insulation estimated $426, which was a very professionally priced bid. Mr. Moehle might give me a song and dance on William's inferior fiberglass products, and thus, their cheaper price ...but he is unresponsive.

I had a project done for a very large rainwater collection system (55,000 gallon tank) on my home. The installer for the rainwater system recommended American Hill Country Gutters for the gutters. This review is only regarding the gutter portion of the project by AHC gutters. Throughout the initial project Mr. Johnson was okay to work with, except for a few periods of long wait times, lack of communication, and an occasional grumpy attitude. I can certainly understand a few bad days, no problem. After the new installation, I discovered the elbows at the top were not secured, and a few splash guards were not working as expected. There was communication between my rainwater collection installer and Mr. Johnson about making the changes. I called Mr. Johnson to ask about his schedule, and I was surprised to hear they were coming that same day (luckily I was home). When his employees arrived they were very nice. Initially the employee thought he was only addressing a couple of elbows. I explained that all of them needed to be checked. I asked him if he could show me what he needed to do. I was trying to explain my concern about the removable screens that needed to function on the leaf eaters below the elbows. I asked if there was a way to make it work. His phone rang while I was standing there, and it was his boss Mr. Johnson. The employee handed me the phone. I was not prepared for what came next. Mr. Johnson proceeded to yell at me, belittled me, told me I was stupid for listening to other opinions, told me I didn't trust his guys, and told me to shut up and let his guys do their job. It was actually worse than that, but you get the picture. Then he to yelled at his employee as well. I was in shock. After going in my house to settle down for a bit, I came back out to work with the employee. I felt sorry for him for being part of this behavior. Once he was all done I thanked him for doing the best that he could. After having some time to reflect on this, I realize how bad the situation really was. It is possible Mr. Johnson wasn't happy that he was called to do this. Maybe he didn't think he should be fixing it. I have no idea. That's no reason to take out frustrations on his staff and the homeowner. I remained calm and professional to him, and his employee. I reviewed the whole thing on my ring camera to reflect on the incident. I am pretty sure I won't get an apology. American Hill Country Gutters will not be returning for anything in the future, which was probably Mr. Johnson's goal all along. In summary, if you consider a major rainwater collection system on your home, please do not use American Hill Country Gutters for that portion of your project. When you read the other reviews about rudeness by the owner, believe them. He will take your money for an installation, but if he has to come back to fix anything, he changes his attitude. He is not a nice person, especially to women.

Looking at the reviews, there was one that stood out for sure, and we had hopes they would be the ones available to come to our home. *****Atrium Roofing ***** All I can say is WOW! We did have urgency for an estimate because of the rain predicted to come this weekend and week. Our roof was compromised during the last big storm about 4 weeks ago and we have had leaking in our Master Bedroom :-(. Mr. Jose Puente communicated with us through my Yelp!
