Sabor A Veracruz located in the heights is a traditional Mexican spot on Summit Avenue. We started with the guacamole which we literally saw him prepare for us. It was delicious. Then we went on to entrees, ordering steak tacos and a chicken burrito. The burrito was massive and the tacos were seasoned well. We definitely did not leave hungry that's for sure. The bill came out to less than 40 dollars. You can't really find this at a lot of places anymore. It seemed like a little hole in the wall. read more

I ordered from here probably 2 or 3 times in the past year. I don't like to complain, but I'm going out of my way this time. If you want to get skimped on your protein, order from this place. Great flavors, but they're cheap. I just legit got one strip of pork in each side of my burrito. Hoboken Burrito gives you 4-5x the amount of meat. I will never order again, got skimped on my tacos and the burrito was a joke, tasted good, all rice lol. Great salsa too, won't order again. Decided we needed Mexican food the day before Thanksgiving, plus we didn't want to cook anything, so we ordered from Sabor A Veracruz. The food was delivered when they said it would be (Wednesday night at 8 pm). I really wanted a chicken sandwich for the past week, and I know this is not the first thing you'd think of when ordering Mexican, but I had the Milanesa de pollo torta (breaded chicken) and it really hit the spot - even though the chicken was thin and a bit dry. But it came with fries, so all was forgiven. My husband had the al pastor burrito, which I thought was a little lacking in al pastor, so it seems like missing meat is a theme here. Good thing we also ordered some of the jalapeno chorizo, which was just the perfect amount of spice and smokiness. As if that wasn't enough food for two people, we also got an order of the cecina (salted beef) tacos, which were exactly that - just salted beef. There is a pesky $3 delivery fee so if I ever order again, I would order for pick up if I'm out running errands or something. read more

Ordered takeouts. Pork quesadillas - SO GOOD. Very flavorful and filling. Came with sour cream and green sauce. Though the bottom part was a bit greasy. Also got the chicken and steak fajita - quite greasy and tasted good. The two sides I got an avocado and the Pico de Gallo sauce. I think it would be great if rice and beans or tortillas could be the default sides, cause things like avocado could easily be an add on side. One of my favorite local Mexican joint. The lady that works up at the front makes the best lemonade- would highly recommend. Very large portions for the price. I have tried their veggie tacos, burritos, tostada( 3 pieces), and enchilada before and would recommend them all. Ask for their homemade salsa- it's spicy but very flavorful. Their chips/ salsa/ guacamole are amazing as well. I always order from here when I'm craving Mexican food, and they charge one dollar for delivery. read more

I had a really good lunch at this place. Ordered off the menu and sat down. They brought chips and salsa to the table. I had two chicken tacos and a fish taco. Both were really tasty and fresh. It looks like a simple little store.. but the food is amazing. We ordered two orders of sopes and the first thing my boyfriend's sisters said were how crispy they were! Cheese enchiladas are good, guacamole is good chorizo tacos are good, rice and beans are on point. The burrito wasn't anything special, the ambience isn't anything special, but the staff is super friendly. The dueling TVs playing different Spanish channels hurts the over all ambience, at least they are usually on mute. So excited that this place opened up because it's literally right around the corner from me! I tried both their tacos and sopecitos and I have no complaints. First time I ordered I was running late from picking up my order up since I placed the order coming out of work. It took me 40mins to get to the restaurant and once I picked up my order it was still hot, I'm glad they kept it warm for me since I took longer than expected to pick it up. As for their sopes, it is by far the best ones I have tried and central ave has many Mexicans restaurants but this one has hit home! Very happy customer here! read more

I'm pregnant and this place used to be my go to for my cravings. I went in today to order my usual and the girl working the front was EXTREMELY rude. Not only was she rude, while I waited for my food, I saw her handling money and touching the food with her bare hands without washing or using sanitizer. VERY BAD especially during COVID times. Being pregnant, this was a HUGE red flag. When I got home, the food was incorrect from my order. It happens, no biggie for me. When I called, she instead it was my fault but I told her the receipt attached to the bag and my email confirmation proves I picked the protein. She then said "So, do you wanna come back to get the food?" I said yes please cause I can't eat the food I was given. When I showed up, I just showed her my receipt to so I wouldn't get blamed and she disregarded me and said "ya, ya ya" and shoved the bag in my face! Wow. No sorry that happen or any remorse. I walked pregnant to and from home TWICE without any anger or hostility and was understanding and you treat customers like this?! Then, when I got home my order was poorly put together (barely any salad) and quality was bad. I'm a regular and this is how they treat me on something they messed up on?! I can't support a business like this in this area. There are tons of other restaurants with amazing food I will go to and with my food cravings. read more

They are super friendly here! I LOVEEEEEEEEEEEEE the chicken tacos! The Nachos are also pretty good, but anything else I've ordered from here has been mediocre. The enchiladas were extremely weird. It was like a cheese log in between tortillas. The cheese wasn't melted at all it was just the strangest thing I've ever had. And the tamales weren't that great also. All I can say is never again .figured id try the spot , since its right around the corner of my place .I give 2 stars cause the place was super clean and cute and the waiter was so nice and apologetic, so i order beef soup, it was very bland not flavorful ,the rice that came with it was the same , bland , i ate it cause i was so hungry and even so i left half of it .My mom ordered pollo ala plancha , it had good seasoning but the texture was so off like rubbery it was weird. I jokenly told my mom. Your eating a cat maybe cause it reminds me of chicken the hood chinese spots make .The waiter apologized and asked if she wanted something else. was so excited when i found this place near my house and they deliver. only reason im not giving 5 stars is because the flautas are very dry n flavorless i wouldn't recommend them AT ALL. the chicken tacos are great, dry at times but awesome flavor and fresh. same goes for the ck quesadillas....absolutely love them. read more
