Let me start by saying I've been eating off food trucks for 30 years (construction). Also my son worked on several over the last 5 years (same company, different trucks). This picaera truck straight dominated all of them. I ate the steak bowl. The meat had to of been slow cooked in a crockpot (only way to get it that tender). It was soooo goood. The rice was also the best rice I've ever eaten (spice room is my favorite restaurant, and this beat them). I'm honestly just blown away by how good it was. 15 out of 10 ( that's right they smashed the scale). Luki is a great brewery. Friendly staff with great beer. Will now be my go to place since I discovered picaera.

Second, I left my ID in the car and in order to get inside, everybody must show an ID to the bouncer. I have to run back to the car and get it. The place was packed and with 3 groups of people before me, the food took 40 minutes to be ready. We got the eggplant croquette, cassava fries, sweet plantains and rice and beans with tofu and fried plantain. The croquette were AMAZING! Also, the garlic oil that comes with the fries is absolutely delicious. I wish they offered as a side condiment to add to the rice and beans. Since the rice, beans and tofu, don't have to much flavor. Maybe a little bit of that garlic oil on top of the tofu will make a difference. The portions are just enough for one person that don't eat a lot. The prices are right for the quality of food they offer. I didn't see any deserts on the menu, so I'm not sure if they offer them.

It also had cilantro in it. My husband had a strewed pork plate (pork loin) with the pickled onions, rice & sweet plantains (how I love them!!) his was also very good. My daughter the shrimp & mofongo with the garlic sauce and salad (that garlic sauce was Amazing!) The place is on a corner in a shopping center so easy to find, service is a little slow because it's a small place but they are on top of things & the quality is there! Jibaritos is a new term for me, but I've had this type of dish before called tostones or as my Colombian friend calls them, patacones. They are all basically the same thing and that it is green plantains, smash down, and fried to make a round shape. Then, usually pulled chicken, tomato are served as the filling, and usually I've had them open-faced, but Mama's Empanadas is serving them as a little sandwiches that they call sliders. Let me tell you, tostones are much better than a basic bread bun! The sauce served in Puerto Rican food is a mix of mayo and ketchup, they have different names for this sauce, but it's something that is standard for this type of food. And it's really good, too! I already love each condiment alone, so mixing mayonnaise & ketchup together works for me and is really a nice condiment sauce for sandwiches. The sauce is like thousand island dressing but without the chunks. I would 100% get these Jibaritos again!! Yum.
