Just opened a brick and morter in RINO. Really good mufungo and meaty empanadas. Their availability changes, so be aware of that.

This place is good but is was a little hard to get inside. First, the parking was very limited on the streets. Second, I left my ID in the car and in order to get inside, everybody must show an ID to the bouncer. I have to run back to the car and get it. The place was packed and with 3 groups of people before me, the food took 40 minutes to be ready. We got the eggplant croquette, cassava fries, sweet plantains and rice and beans with tofu and fried plantain. The croquette were AMAZING! Also, the garlic oil that comes with the fries is absolutely delicious. I wish they offered as a side condiment to add to the rice and beans. Since the rice, beans and tofu, don't have to much flavor. Maybe a little bit of that garlic oil on top of the tofu will make a difference. The portions are just enough for one person that don't eat a lot. The prices are right for the quality of food they offer. I didn't see any deserts on the menu, so I'm not sure if they offer them. read more

This truck is so underrated. Why people haven't started lining up down the block is beyond me. My favorite, by far, is The Rican sandwich. I don't know exactly what is in it, but it's magical. I've been hard at work to evangelize the special sammie that has captured my heart. Can you be IN LOVE with a sandwich? I'm ready to put a ring on it. Dos Abuelas has great vegetarian options (not always available in Puerto Rican food). I would recommended it to anyone for a late night meal in RiNo. I believe they use soy bean oil (not lard) to fry their plantains. I also believe their rice and beans are vegetarian friendly, but I would double check. They also have a vegan aioli upon request! read more

This place came into my work in Lone Tree as our cafeteria likes to invite local restaurants to serve employees. The food was so delicious I contemplated going back for seconds. I got the Triple Rican and the bread was so fresh and toasted perfectly, the meat was juice and delicious and the sauce they used was amazing. We came across this food truck at the taste of Puerto Rico event at Civic Center Park yesterday in Denver. Obviously it's expected to have long lines at an event like this especially for food, however they had a menu out but did not scratch off all the things that they were currently out of and they didn't bother to tell the people that were waiting in line for over an hour what they were running LOW ON with an extremely long wait time THAT IS NOT COOL. My boyfriend and I waited in line for an entire hour, and WHEN WE approached to order food we were told that they were out of every kind of empanadas except for trout. They didn't bother to communicate with anybody in line that they were running low on other flavors, or that they were out of it completely, or that they were about to run out. To wait an hour and not be told anything in line, seemed very unacceptable because it takes just a few moments to step outside to your line and tell the people waiting that you're running low on a particular item or in this case almost everything. My boyfriend then begrudgingly settled for a mediocre steak sandwich. Which should have had other 2 other meats which they were also out of but didn't bother to let anyone know.....the sandwich which took another 45 minutes to make was not even very good. Thats almost 2 hours of our lives. When I did mention to the redhead chick running the register that it would be good to communicate with their customers in ine so they didn't they didn't wait for over an hour for food that they DIDNT HAVE OR WERE RUNNING LOW ON she got an attitude with me and was very rude about it and said "we're doing our best", WITH A BIG EYE ROLL. Well if doing your best is not communicating with your guests about what you're running low on, wasting over an hour of their time, being rude about it, and then proceeding to make THEM Wait Almost another hour for a mediocre sandwich... Then please do better! Between the food the long wait time the lack of communication between staff and customers that was generally not a good experience and I would not recommend anyone else hiring this food truck for an event or other people wasting your time or money if this is the way they treat their customers. Get it together guys! It almost seemed like they were purposefully not telling people that they were out of items just so that they would wait long enough to be desperate enough to just order something anyway just to make more money. Show some courtesy and take the time to tell people that you're running out or low on certain things that they don't wait for 2 hours of their life for nothing. After my unpleasant exchange with the redhead chick, I politely turned around and told everybody in the extremely long line all of the items thaT they were out of or running Low ON and she seemed visibly pissed that I let people know when she refused to do the same. I just ordered deliver and I was very disappointed. I ordered the monfogo, which was $13 for a very small portion of food that was also undercooked. I also ordered plantains which they left off. The restaurant refunded it, but I already paid a delivery fee, which is normally fine, but now I feel ripped off. Anyway, not tasty, overpriced, and completely forgot an item. read more

Everything was flavorful and definitely authentic. We had sweet plantains and tostones "plantain chips", Abuelas plate and the Guava barbecue sandwich. Everything was beyond expectations. I shared with husband, sister and both kids and everyone was verbally raving during dinner. The beans and rice on the abuelas plate was unreal. I would get a side of that as a meal of its own. I got Gramma's plate which was rice and beans, plantains and really good pulled pork. My wife had the Rican sandwich, she loved it. The food was so good we were craving it the next day. The mofongo was absolutely delicious! Everything was fresh made to order. The pork is so good. Location is tricky because you can't see it from the street, it's behind the wall/fence at Finns Manor. It's worth the wait for homemade food like this. I highly recommend Dos Abuelas! read more

Rudest service ever. Out of all the food trucks at this joint it looked like this was one closed cause the window was shutand no lights. I was curious to look at the menu because I thought it was cool to see a Puerto Rican place here even, if I thought it was closed. We saw her and waited a bit for her to acknowledge us I figured she may have been busy but it only takes two seconds to say," be with you in shortly". I will own up and say that there was a miscommunication on both parties . But I ordered a plate and I heard her say there wasn't any protein. On the menu it said choice of protein or vegan plate. So I said, " I don't need the protein then" Then she busted out with," so just the rice and beans?" Looking back at this suggestion it's like 'Like where the hell do you get that when I said want the grandmas plate?!?!? ' not to mention it says it's served with beans and something else. And I was confused I looked at the menu and assumed she ment that as a side dish. So I just nodded cause it was loud, dark and cold . Well we leave to go stand where it's warm. We walk back to check on our food and I see that there was a plate. Of course because of the confusion, I was hesitant to take it. She opens the window and goes," this is yours, your ordered the rice and beans for six bucks" but just with a unfriendly tone and I paused and she saw the confusion on my face. I said to her," I ordered the grandma's plate" you could tell she looked so annoyed she even lifted her fist over her mouth, like one does when they are getting upset or trying to stop from saying something and she goes," No YOU said the Rice and beans" and I explained the confusion and said," sorry, I guess I must of heard you wrong" and she goes," so then do you want the plantains". I felt so uncomfortable so I said ,"no it's all good" and she closed the window. No apologies and no sympathy. While I was left with the window closed I was thinking to myself like where is the forks and spoons or napkins? I turned to my left and saw that it was stashed in there and I could see the dust and dirt on these spoons. I ended up throwing away my food waste of six bucks. Sure, it's probably obvious where the silverware is at, but it's dark! and it's called curiosity! No wonder there wasn't a line compared to the other food trucks. read more
