It's been a year or three since eatting here. Was going to another place in Denton for my pupusa…read morefix but unfortunately they closed down. So I re-tried a place I use to go to in Lewisville on Sunday, and here today to figure out which one I would frequent. The prices here have definitely changed from a hole in the wall place, even though it's still a hole in the wall place. They offer cheese, bean & cheese, or chicharon & cheese pupusas. They do not deviate. For the first two, pricing is $3.28 each. They give a small serving of curtido so if you like it you'll have to request more. The curtido here tastes good. The pupusas were on the smaller side and were wet in places on the bottom. You can definitely taste the wet texture when eatting. The chicken tamale was on point. They are $4.06 each. A large aqua fresca is $5.60 - no free refills. They charge $1 I was told when asking before I left. They no longer serve their yummy rice with veggies. It is just white rice. I didn't know they changed it, and wasn't told it would be white rice. Paid $3.02 for maybe a 1/2 cup serving. Would not have purchased if I knew this. Also they do not post pricing or offer any menus with pricing. They have the typical display pictures and names of items they serve. You order at the counter and pay at time of ordering. For 2 pupusas (no meat), 1 tamale, side of white rice, and large aqua fresca, my bill was $20.83. I guess I'll continue my pupusa quest.

Best restaurant in Denton. Delicious food done well…read more The pupusas are always fresh, hot, and go so well with the sauce. The fried mojarra is a new favorite of my spouse and I, and it comes with pickled beets, platano frito (as I call them, or Tajadas,) and some Curtido (like a cabbage cole slaw with vinegar and oregano.) seriously amazing food. The fish was so juicy and cooked perfectly. I am looking forward to hopefully trying everything on the menu over time!! I know it'll all be worth it The service is great and the staff are always so kind and courteous. The establishment is always clean and well cared for, and the seats and environment is cozy complete with television for you to relax and chill. There's a variety of drinks and beverages to choose from including imported drinks. I believe the restaurant is influenced by Honduran and El Salvadorian culture, so the drinks might very well be popular ones from these countries or regions. (: they also make fresh horchata, lemonade, and agua de piña (pineapple). The agua de limón is so fresh and went so well with the spice level of the food, as there is some good heat in the sauces. I love this place and it definitely deserves better reviews. You really can't go wrong here. My spouse and I posted the food on BeReal so don't mind the selfies on the pics lol

I am unfamiliar with the food and I have never had it! I come in order my food and he explains to me everything on the Menu! As I am waiting he brings me a Baleada de Frijol, Crema and Quezo I'm sure I misspelled it. He brings it and says try this and don't worry it's on the house. Man it was delicious and I was shocked as it was like a sample but a huge and I mean a HUGE sample. I can not wait to get home and try my food and I'm sure it's just as good as the sample he gave me! I did go back and try to pay for what he gave me but he said no it's ok but still left it as a tip in his tip JAR! Super happy for this experience and believe me I am for sure I'll be back for try their breakfast menu!

The menu isn't huge but our waiter (the owner?) helped us choose based on how hungry we were. I said I wasn't very hungry so he recommended the tacos. For my boyfriend he recommended the carne asada. That taco plate was huge and the carne asada was even bigger. I failed to get a photo of the asada before bf tore into it, but it was gorgeous. Served on a bed of fried plantains and accompanied by rice, amazing beans, avocado and pickled veg. Both dishes were blazing hot and made with care. The tacos are rolled chicken tacos, deep fried and topped with cabbage and crema. I could only eat one of the three! I tasted the asada and it was also terrific. Can't wait to come back and try breakfast or a lunch special!

They upped their prices since I last posted pictures. So $10 for the cheapest ingredients: eggs, beans, a tiny piece of cheese, and an extremely small serving of beans, one tiny slice of avocado, some overly greasy and soggy plátanos maduros that I had to blot with paper towels, and some cream. They also included 3 tortillas de maíz on the side. I gave two stars bc the flavor was not bad but it was in no way worth it. And I said at the beginning of our meal "it costs less right because there's no meat?" and the waitress agreed. It's not her fault she overcharged. I think it's an ownership issue bc the menu changed and they had stickies to change the price. My sister who was paying didn't want to deal with the overcharge which is what should have happened to give them a chance to resolve it. I am writing the review bc I wonder how many other people come in and get sneakily overcharged like this too and I don't like it when innocent people who support local businesses are getting taken advantage of. Most definitely not worth this amount of money. I went to a fancy restaurant called Tupelo in Frisco and paid the same amount for 5 star quality breakfast food from a top notch chef. Do not waste your money!

I asked crema to mine for an extra burst of flavor. The maduros may have been some of the best I've had! Carmelized to the point that they were soft, sweet, with a charred exterior! I'm so glad I ordered this as a standard appetizer. Walking in, it feels like a 50s diner mixed with with a Latin discoteca. They have a sausage where a band (or kareoke) is performed. From how slow it was during the weekday lunch time, I suspect this place gets most of its business at night. Service was standard, although my order took at least 40 minutes. I don't know if it was the contractor electricians that were distracting the staff with their questions on the building, but I was surprised my order took so long when there was only two other people on the whole building ordering food. I hope this slow food service isn't like this all the time, but the quality of the food makes up for a lot of flaws.

Saturday at 5PM, it was perhaps too early for any type of dinner rush, cause I was the only person there. The staff did not speak ANY english. That scary moment when you say hello, and the other person stares with no expression. Luckily I could say just enough Spanish to navigate and order everything I wanted without a problem. They seemed to have a smaller menu compared to what Ive seen posted from other people. I only saw breakfast and lunch (in espanol) so maybe I have to come back at a later time for dinner? The interior is not a dump, but its not chic, modern, or inviting either. The best way I can describe it is the type of place you'd see within a courtyard of a mexican bazaar. They blast the music like its a nightclub. I recommend you stay away from the left side of the restaurant if thats going to bothr you. They serve everything on styrafoam plates and plastic cutlerry The area looked clean enough, so theres no complaints on cleanliness. I ordered a baleada mixta, as well as the chuleta plate (pork chop cutlet). The baleada is simple, cheap, fairly big, and cozy like a homemade meal. Their tortillas are legit made in house, because theres no weird starchiness or stiffness in the dough. The ingredients are beans, cheese, eggs, and creama, but damn was it delicious! The cheese they use (im guessing queso fresco) had a lovely tang that gave the meal an extra dimension. I couldnt stop eating this! The chuleta plate felt like I was at a cookout. A seasoned pork chop, served with a cabbage salad, beans, and more plantains than I could eat in one sitting! The chuleta was not super moist, but every bite was well seasoned. I'd say eat the pork chop sooner than later as its not as tender as time progresses. The chimol (similar to pico de gallo) was a nice addition on top. The plaintains are baked? and feel like french fries! The beans were delicious with whatever lard or fat they add to it. The cabbage salad is fine, but I do like the sauce they add, which reminds me of 1000 islands dressing, minus the relish. Overall, I was pleased with my meal here. Ive never had legit Honduran food, so I look forward to having it again!

Overall: the best baleadas I've had in DFW…read more Detailed: this review is essentially only for the baleadas from Catrachito - because that's what I've had there and that's what I think is amazing about it. I've eaten at Catrachito maybe two dozen times, and each time I've eaten their baleadas (with eggs in them). They are HUGE and cheap (around $2 each, where each one literally weighs like 0.5+ lbs). They are so savory and filling. I have tried many Honduran restaurants in the metroplex, and this is by far the best ones I've tried among them all. The location of Catrachito is located right by Target, it might be hard to miss the entrance based on its location and proximity to the street. It's never been too busy there, and ordering a baleada by phone gets prepared in less than 15 minutes. The inside of the restaurant is not very impressive, but that's okay because baleadas are great good to take on the go or to take home.
