I have driven by here so many times and finally decided to stop in. We were warmly greeted and the gentleman behind the counter was so kind in answering all of our questions as first timers. We had the Maracucho with Pork and it was absolutely outstanding! The Plantains were so perfectly prepared and tasty and it was an amazing dish overall. We also had the Parilla Ejecutiva which had a steak, yucca fries, sausage, cheese, and slaw and it was super tasty. The restaurant is very clean and inviting and we had a great experience. I had a wonderful first visit to Code 58 Venezuelan Restaurant and was pleasantly surprised! I'd never tried a Patacón before, and it was absolutely delicious. The sandwich uses crispy fried green plantains instead of bread and was filled with flavorful shredded beef and a fresh, creamy cabbage slaw that complemented it perfectly. Every bite was packed with great flavor and texture. The food was fresh, unique, and clearly made with care. If you've never experienced Venezuelan cuisine, this is a great place to start. Tried Venezuela food for the first time, this place was the BOMB! My husband and I asked for the best meats to go with each dish and the cashier Mary was very nice and helpful! She recommended certain meats so we can have the OG experience. They brought out our food to our table, which were all in disposable and/or easy clean up plastic baskets. We had the arepa frita cabimera, pepito carne asada (my husbands favorite), and papa con queso empanada (my favorite!). My friend and I decided to try Code 58 for our monthly dinner together. When we walked in there was a strong smell of Fabluloso. So it's clean, but the smell is too strong. I would rather smell delicious food smells when I walk in a restaurant. We had never been so we took a while looking over the menu. No one came over to ask if we needed help and we almost had to flag down some to come to the register. I had been to Viva Las Arepas and was hoping these Arepas would be like theirs. They aren't so I was a little disappointed. The beef was good in mine, but it is supposed to Gouda. It didn't seem like Gouda. Also it got dry in the middle. I went looking for sauces for us, but there are only packs of mustard, ketchup and mayo. We both agreed there should be sauces, offered and available. There was no one behind the counter when we were looking, so I guess I could have gone to find someone to ask. They may have sauce upon request. This is not Mexican food. This is not Tex-Mex. If you are looking for either or something even moderately similar to those foods, look elsewhere. Code 58 (the international dialing country code for Venezuela) restaurant tucked next to the Painted Tree market in a Highland Village strip mall is a welcomed addition to the multi-cultural food scene in the area. The food is fresh and the portions are deceptively huge (lots of protein, whether that is the steak, chicken, or pork offerings). You definitely will not leave hungry. There were four of us and we asked the owner to give us what she felt were good choices to reflect their kitchen. We ended up with a Patacones (traditional Venezuelan "sandwich" where the fried/smashed plantains act as the bread) Maracucho (a name for someone from city of Maracaibo) and it was huge! Good amounts of meat (we did steak) and great creamy and flavor with the blend of cabbage/mayo. Warning, if you don't like the shredded lettuce/mayo/sour cream/queso fresco mixtures let them know so they can adjust as this was a consistent theme in the dishes. We also tried the Cabimera, another traditional Venezuelan arepa sandwich which was equally good, if not a little better. The arepas are perfectly cooked. Service is attentive with what I'm guessing are family members helping run the business and overall great experience to try Latin American, non-Mexican food. read more

Pros - the food was excellent! Great flavor and texture combinations. Original. Opportunity for improvement - the menu is confusing for a first time patron. It is slightly translated to English but still really doesn't describe what it is you are ordering and is hard to tell if it is a meal or a side or appetizer. I went by the photos and asked for advice on the most popular items. I wanted to order two meals (sandwiches) with fries and drinks with each. It didn't exactly process like that but it tasted good enough I will return. Perhaps being fluent in Spanish is advised. read more

On my first visit, about five months ago, everything looked good. Food and attention. I am here now and, first of all, there is no one who attend people and I had to order directly in the food truck. I prompted a girl that was supposed to attend us and she started walking around and did not come to see us. I've been waiting for almost 40 minutes and when to ask what happened with my order and the guy says "we're too busy preparing orders to go". So, the illusion lasted for too short. The staff are friendly but brush up on your Spanish as some of the staff working there where English is not their first language. It's great though and gives the place a bit more authenticity.
