Food was good and the service as well. Restaurant appears to be extremely clean, and it's very beautiful on the inside. We also had their margaritas which weren't strong at all, didn't taste like they had any alcohol in them. We asked for them to make it stronger, and we were charged $5 dollars... overall, it was a good experience. Prices are a bit high. read more

Been here a couple times and the staff is VERY friendly and helpful. Parking lot is not paved and can fill easily or puddle if raining. The inside is well spaced so it can be full but not feel crowded. The decor is very clean and decorated. Easy and expected menu and food comes fast and fresh. Obviously enjoy the guac! This place is excellent to catch up with friends and hang out margaritas. They'll also accommodate small groups. Haven't tried the outdoor seating yet but it's spacious and quiet since the location is not crowded by other buildings like in town. Prices are reasonable. After dropping our car off in Rhinebeck to be serviced, we headed north to Red Hook for lunch. We looked up Mexican food in the area and came across this restaurant we'd never seen. We always had great food at Cancun but wanted something new. From the glowing reviews, we decided to pull into Sambosa. As it was about 11:15 am, the restaurant was empty. We were seated promptly and ordered the Tacos Red Hook. See menu. I had shredded beef, and my husband had the grilled chicken. Both dishes were okay but not particularly special. We finished in under a half hour. When we received the bill, I noticed they listed our meal as dinner, charging us the $16.95 dinner prices instead of the $13.95 lunch one. It wasn't even noon! Additionally, they charged my husband a $3 surcharge for grilled chicken. When the waiter asked if my husband wanted shredded or grilled chicken, he chose the grilled, yet nowhere on menu was there anything saying it was extra. When I asked the waiter why we were being charged dinner prices instead of lunch, he feebly offered, lunch is 2 Tacos, dinner is 3. Again, it's not on the menu anywhere. I asked him to correct the bill, and he refused. You blew it, Nacho, we won't be back. We'll go to our favorite Mexican restaurant in La Grangeville, Casa Amigos, which, to this California gal, has the best Mexican food in the Hudson Valley. read more

Food price / quality (value) rating 9. The atmosphere is contemporary Mexican cantina. The walls are covered in awesome murals painted by an employee named Christian Moya. I had the burritos and the wife had a taco salad. Both were prepared and presented nicely, and were made with high quality ingredients. A nice option is that you can mix chicken or beef burritos with the three that are served. The service was good, the Margaritas were tasty, and the wine was cheap. Don't let the exterior of the place turn you off, it's beautiful inside with unusual artistic relief depictions of Mexican scenes on every chair in the place - very cool. So great to have another Mexican food option in Red Hook, the food at Sabroso is far superior to Cancun. We tried the Tostadas and they allowed me to order one of each type (shredded beef, ground beef and shredded chicken) they were all great, but I especially loved the chicken, it was moist and flavorful. We also tried the Tacos al Pastor which were great. Very friendly and attentive service. They have a kids menu which is great for my picky kids, they even brought the kids fake mustaches after the meal. The interior of the restaurant is beautiful, with colorful murals everywhere. Been waiting a year to see what this turned into and I'm super happy. I'm from California, I have been perpetually looking for respectably good Mexican food on the east coast and I'm generally disappointed with what I find. On top of that I'm vegetarian meaning I'm even more disappointed to find things like, a giant head of broccoli in a burrito, gross. Sabrosa passes the test tho. It has a great kitschy interior with wall to wall murals that reminds me of hometown Mexican food go tos. The few things I've tried off the entree oriented menu have been great. The salsa and hot sauces are actually spicy. The owner seems to take some pride in it too. Try it. read more

My husband and I just picked up his new pick up truck from the dealership and we went for a ride. It was a little before lunchtime, we were on route 9 and stopped in. We were the only customers, although as we left a few were arriving. The food, drinks, atmosphere and service was amazing. We will def return. If there was anything I would suggest to the owners, we were not sure if they were open. The inside is so beautifully completed, all of the murals are hand painted and look genuinely real. Everything is hand painted, the walls, booths, halls, etc and the restaraunt is pretty big. Our suggestion would be to entice those who haven't yet visited, by improving the appearance of the outside of the property. We had a great experience here! We called when we were 7 min away for pickup (it's not in a city/downtown area, it's over by itself) so our tacos were done really quickly after our arrival. They were traditional steak tacos with cilantro, onions, and lime. It was exactly what we were looking for & was super fresh. We tried the chips & guac and really enjoyed it - they were very generous with the chips. The guac basically had some pico in it which we PREFER so we were happy campers. We ended our meal with tres leches (my fav dessert so I was PUMPED to see it on the menu). The flavor was amazing & we both destroyed our pieces (no, we didn't share) but my husband & I both agree we would have wanted it to be wetter. We were happy with our meal & thought they were fairly priced. There is a parking lot & both indoor & outdoor seating available. Overall - highly recommend! read more

Went to Sabroso the other day. Truth be told our first choice is somehow closed on Sundays so we looked around for another Mexican restaurant. We were very pleased to "discover" a place we have passed by dozens of times. There was a very nice family vibe in the restaurant with both indoor and outdoor seating, colorful decor and great service. The tortilla chips served as we sat down were crisp and flavorful and as an added bonus they had excellent horchata. The menu was extensive. We opted for more typical fare like tacos and quesadilla but we did peek at the dishes being served at nearby tables. Everything looked promising. Our dinners were great. I love the splashy atmospheric murals and decorative tables and chairs. The food is a real cut above, and I like that when you ask them for no cheese they actually accommodate you! :-) Definitely worth trekking a few minutes north of Red Hook for a meal here. This place has potential! I want it to succeed. The setting is colorful and festive and the food is respectable (though not great). The deal-killer is the margarita, which is plain awful, seemingly made with a powder mix like Crystal Lite. If you're a Mexican restaurant and want people to come back again and again, there are certain things you have to get right and the margarita is a big one. If real lime is too expensive or time-consuming, okay, but at least use a mixer with lime juice in it. The powdered mix tastes like sweetened Windex and serving large goblets of it just means you get more of a bad thing. I suspect it's also meant to cover for how little tequila is in it. Again, I want to emphasize that I want this place to succeed. Very much! But the margarita must be better. read more

Moved to NJ from CA almost 5 years ago and gave up on finding good Mexican food because I thought it just didn't exist. My family got a cabin thru airbnb in Red Hook and we saw Sabrosa on the way to it. We decided to give it a try last night and OMG, so glad we did. It brought me back to CA, and may I add, maybe the best enchilada suizas I have ever had. Their green sauce is fantastic. My husband and children ordered the fiesta appetizer and a chicken quesadilla to share. All of our food was gone! The chicken is cooked perfectly with the right amount of seasoning and tenderness.
