Awesome Mexican restaurant! We came here about an hour to close and the restaurant was still lively with people and we took a seat at the bar. The bartender Josiah was super efficient and really nice to chat with throughout dinner. We started with the chips and salsa and ordered the char grilled steak quesadilla and steak burrito, both of which you could make into a meal with rice, beans, and a side salad. Everything was fantastic, fresh and light, and didn't sit heavy after dinner at all. Steak was so tender and I got medium. You can tell the effort they put into the ingredients and the food. So many other options that I'd love to try from the menu. They also have great drink options as well. Highly recommend for dinner, date night, or any celebration! read more

Go here for Taco Tuesday and get Sangria, chips, fresh salsa, guacamole and the buffalo cauliflower with homemade blue cheese! Loved the fresh sliced cucumber that came with a few things. Many great vegan and gluten free options on the menu. Vibe is trendy. Was totally surprised how packed it was after 8pm on a Tuesday night. Excellent bar staff, host and servers. The only thing I'd change would be the tunes....wasn't really feeling the oldies dinner music but that's no biggie! I had a shrimp taco and sweet potato taco. The shrimp could have been a little more sauted. I removed the red onions and got a side of sour cream and salsa to enhance it. For the sweet potato taco the waitress recommended a fried corn tortilla. It was the most unique flavored thing I ever ate at a Mexican place! Such a unique taco concept! Was super filling and almost like a dessert itself. For actual dessert the churro cheesecake would have been orgasmic with an apple or berry compote. The best Tex Mex anywhere I've ever been. The food is all cooked fresh to order. Steak tacos cooked as requested. I like medium rare. Black Bean soup to die for. My oldest son stoped in town two days ago and we went to Santa Fe and he got the steak burrito of which he said it was the best one he ever had. It can get quite crowded and a bit loud at times but the food and drinks are consistent. The service is extremely friendly even when at their busiest. But, beware they serve REAL Margaritas not what I call "girly ones" like most places. They are strong, but I like them that way. If you are not used to REAL margarita you may need yours weakened. We are welcomed very hospitably D they have us a table despite being an hour early. The restaurant was empty yet they sat us next to the bathroom which was kinda annoying because of the constant foot traffic directly next to us. Anyway she recommended the blackberry margarita which she said was the best. It was strong with no flavor. Like it was made with cheap alcohol, so they had to add a lot to compensate for the lack of flavor it had. It wasn't good at all. The food was different but good. It's Mexican food with a modern day twist. The chips and salsa was tasty. There was buffalo cauliflower (not Mexican at all) but good.The pulled pork tacos was surprisingly sweet. At first glance it looks savory and spicy and you take a bite and it's sweet. It throws off all your senses. The chimichanga tasted a little off and weird. Certain bites tasted like a dirty rag, and some bites were good. The best thing we had that night was the lobster quesadilla. The crème brûlée (again not Mexican) was tasty and the flan was rich, silky and smooth. It was an interesting experience. Would I come back?..... probably not. read more

We were driving through Kingston and wanted a place with gluten-free options. Sante Fe Uptown clearly showed this on their menu and I easily found multiple options. I had the enchiladas típicas and they were good. My husband had the barbacoa short rib tacos which he really enjoyed. The waitress was nice and friendly too. First, this place is LOUD! There are no attempts to minimize the sounds with artwork or anything. The sound bouncing off the walls literally hurts your ears. It is very dark as well. Service was great though. Food was meh. Calamari was soggy and inedible. Steak tacos had too much fat so that about 1/4 of it could not be eaten. Flavor was just so so. Beer was great. read more

My wife and I love Santa Fe. It's kind of a go-to for mexican in this area and I'm surprised I never wrote a review! I feel remiss... First off, they have great mole on their Oaxacan tacos. Any place that can spin a great mole sauce automatically wins my heart. In fact, I always struggle to try new things there because it's so damned good. I do try other things... :) And they're always solid. All of their burritos are great. And they have wonderful seafood and vegetarian options for my wife. We're never unhappy. read more

Santa Fe is a local staple. I've been going here, and the other two locations, for the last 20 years. It's universally loved and me, my friends, and family always come back for good reason - the food is tasty, fresh, and local, the margaritas and cocktails unrivaled, and the staff is always kind and welcoming. It's hard for me to pick specific menu items because it's all so good, but here's a few favorites: always start with chips/salsa/guac (but don't fill up!), the plantains are special, baja shrimp and baby spinach quesadilla, steak burrito, Oaxacan tacos, and - if you want something lighter - grilled salmon with tomatoes, olives, and capers I don't have a favorite cocktail because they're all so good; I recommend trying a few different margarita flavors... there's a lot to choose from! I had a fantastic birthday dinner here recently. EVERYTHING was most enjoyable from start to finish! Upon entry with my husband, the hostess and/or waitstaff was not immediately available to assist us, and so the bartender cheerfully acknowledged us, and seeing that no other staff member was available to seat us, she promptly abandoned her bar station and was happy to seat us herself, so as not to leave us waiting at the door - A++! This type of team action speak volumes to me. Any business will suffer if the staff members have the attitude "it's not MY job", and refuse to pitch-in and work as a team for the good of the the group, the business and their customers! Anyway, Julie, our server, was most pleasant, bubbly, attentive and expeditious in her service at our cozy table for two in the rear. The food was outstanding that night. We thoroughly enjoyed sharing the succulent lobster quesadilla, and our main entrees were truly delicious, as well. The margaritas were made perfectly and our desserts - creme brule' and flan - were exquisite in that we couldn't help but murmur "Mmmmmmmm" with each and every bite! We had a good waitress who paid attention to us and kept the drinks coming. The menu has many items to choose from. We started out with drinks and the cauliflower wings and were FLOORED!! They are SO GOOD! I'm vegetarian but my girlfriend is not and we were both equally impressed. This is officially our new favorite date spot. The food is fantastic! We started with the tuna tartar and buffalo cauliflower (strong recommendation on both and I am NOT a vegetarian). My husband order the fish tacos (swordfish) and absolutely loved it- we still can't get over how generous they were with the fish! I ordered the strip steak and it was cooked to perfection. Also, their drinks are worth a try! The coconut margarita was delicious, and not too sugary- seems to be made with simply coconut milk and margarita ingredients. I had been a little hesitant to try Santa Fe Uptown, since my last visit to the one in Tivoli had been disappointing. All is forgiven here. Whatever they're doing differently, they're doing right and doing it well. That would include the evening specials and those pitchers of margaritas. We came here on a Wednesday, so the special was 50 cent wings 6 or 7 different sauces from which to choose. The bourbon sauce was a good mix of spicy and smoky and sweet. The homemade salsa was difficult for me to stop dipping into with the chips, with its strong cilantro and lime presence. My steak burrito came with rice covered with black beans and a side of mesclun salad. The beef was charred nicely but was slightly fatty. the shrimp burrito came with the same sides, was equally good, but I felt the shrimp could have even been a little spicier. Now the price - roughly $18 for each of these - it feels a little above average compared to getting similar dishes elsewhere. But when you take the rest of the meal into consideration, the cost for the entire food and drink experience was very reasonable. A fun waiter made it even more enjoyable and worth many return trips. read more

My boyfriend and I were visiting from NYC and were looking for a great Saturday night dinner spot on Yelp. Santa Fe uptown caught my eye immediately! I love a good margarita (frozen yes please) and anything Mexican food related. I ordered a frozen margarita of course & my boyfriend had a Pacifico beer. The margarita was excellent. It was so refreshing and they offered a great variety of flavors. We started with a lobster quesadilla, which was so delicious. I ended up ordering the pulled pork tacos and my boyfriend had the fish tacos. Overall everything was so delicious and fresh. We really enjoyed our experience and the service was top notch.
